My Button Swap Partner!

This month, I participated in a monthly button swap. To be honest, I wasn't even sure what that is, but I figured I would find out. Francine at Ethereal Plus What I Love is hosting it.

I am happy to introduce my button swap partner,
ARod from Makin My Apartment a Home!

Makin My Apt a Home

I paid a nice long visit to ARod's blog (you'll have to go there to find out about her nickname) and I discovered an energetic, fun loving spirit, who loves DIY projects! Here is one that caught my eye!

You will notice right away that she LOVES black and white! If you want to see the entire post, here is the link to her coffee table.

This next project is one of my favorites. She creates a wonderful dog bed! She started with this:

As a fellow dog lover, I really appreciated her post on canine CPR.

So, this is my button swap partner for August!
I definitely plan on joining Francine again for September!

Daughter's Apartment-Project One!

My daughter moved into a new apartment and asked for my help with decorating it. I have many projects planned, and will share them as I go along. When I'm finished, I will post the reveal! But until then, one project at a time.

A few weeks ago I created a tablescape inspired by the fabric I used as a table topper.

You can see the post here.

But, the fabric was purchased for the first project! Here is a photo of the sofa my daughter and I picked out. She bought the matching loveseat, too.

I just love the cocoa color, the rolled arms, and the soft chenille fabric. The accent pillows? Not so much.

This side isn't bad...

...but this side just won't work in my plan!

So, I took them apart and removed the stuffing. Is it just me, or is this stuffing creepy?

I got out my trusty sewing machine, which gets used about once every two years. I stitched the new fabric (which was 50% off at Jo-Ann's) and the brown fabric together.

I turned them right side out.

I left a small gap in each, so I could put the creepy stuffing back in. Then, I hand stitched them closed.

Here are the finished pillows!

Cost of this project: $15! You will see how they look in her apartment when I post the big reveal! But first, I have to get started on the next project--a hall tree!
