My September Button Swap Partner!

Oh dear, it's September 20th and I am just getting around to introducing this month's button swap partner! I'm blaming everything on our bathroom remodel. It's the smallest room in the house, but it turned our whole world upside down. How will we ever survive getting the kitchen done?

On with the introduction!

LAREPORTISTE

Kristie is a lover of all things French, and after my journey through her blog, I am now convinced there is a little bit of France in Texas! Her blog is full of stunning images and her upbeat spirit will put a smile on your face.

Here is a description of La Reportiste in Kristie's own words:

"I love to write on a variety of topics so I can't say that this blog is about one thing. It's about a lot of issues.  Social, travel, architecture, beauty, art, friends...you see, lots of topics.

I like to try to write at least twice sometimes three times a week and you never know what I will decide to write about.  Sometimes, I don't even know myself until the day I write."

Also, be sure to check out her Etsy shop La petite boutique de perles where you will find some beautiful French inspired items!

I hope you will visit La Reportiste--it's a charming escape to a dreamy far away place...

Daughter's Apt-Project Three!

As I continue decorating my daughter's appointment, I will share all the projects, even the smallest ones! For this project, I am creating the first of many accessories.

My daughter loves animals as much as I do. She has two pets--a very large black cat she adopted from a shelter as a kitten, and a three-legged cattle dog mix (also a rescue animal). I found this little wooden block with a very sweet sentiment ($5 at Gordman's) and will use it on a shelf.

I wanted something to reflect her cat, so I checked out these cat pillows at cafepress. They are very cute, but $20 plus shipping was more than we wanted to spend.

I decided to design my own pillow.

I did some research on iron-on transfers, and settled on this one, which uses an inkjet printer to print directly on fabric. It comes with three sheets, at a cost per sheet of just over $1.

The sheet is 200 thread count cotton. I was very happy with the way it came out of the printer.

After cutting out my oval, I ironed it on my black fabric (a remnant I bought years ago for next to nothing).

When I bought the transfer sheets, I also bought some black ribbon.

After stuffing my pillow, I stitched the ribbon around the oval.

And, here is the finished pillow! Total cost (including fiberfill) about $4.

I may add more ribbon so she can hang the pillow, but we shall see!

Next week, a bigger project is in store!

Here are the other projects if you missed them!
