Wet Wednesday...

Hello is just about all I have to say today. It is beginning to rain again therefore...Wet Wednesday. The phrase Wet Wednesday reminds me of a job I had in the 80's where my very young boss always took off work very early on Wednesdays to go sailing. He was originally from Boston and was proud of the fact that he actually graduated college by getting extra credit and boosting his grades by sailing his professors yachts around from winter storage to good weather harbors for them to enjoy. I do not know anything about sailing except that it takes place on water...very big water. Water and I do not have a very good relationship. I have never been nor will ever go on a sailboat of any size. They tip you know. Sometimes people actually fall off and end up in water. That is why I have no adventure or desire to experience sailing. However, as an employee and fun loving person that I was I gathered up about three of us girls and we decided to cheer our boss on one of these Wet Wednesdays as a surprise. So we got matching hot pink t-shirts that fit us each quite well and we stenciled very large lettering on the front of our shirts. WET WEDNESDAY We left work on time and drove to the marina and lined up at the dock just in time to cheer him on as his very large sailboat was coming in for the evening. This was in Southern California and summer time so lots of great weather and sunlight. Well, he was thrilled and very surprised to see "his" girls cheering him on. It also fed his huge ego to have us make such a fuss over him in front of all his friends. Needless to say we all enjoyed a very late night of libations and laughter. Of course we all made it to work on time the next day. So for me Wet Wednesday has lots of memories.
Today it means we are having more rain here in Northern California and we are thankful for the water.
So as Tinkerbell brings a smile to my face...hello to everyone.

Refreshing rain...

Don't you just love fresh blooming flowers? So bright and cheery they are. Well with all this rain we are having we should get some beautiful flowers blooming come spring. There are lots of wonderful wildflower walks to partake of in this part of the country. Some have docents that know all the types of flowers and some walks are just for you to meander along just taking in the beauty of it all.

I am really looking forward to all the daffodils that will be blooming very soon. The highway is planted with thousands of them in a very short distance that are spectacular to look at and enjoy. Then there are the 99 daffodil bulbs that my dear husband planted for me a couple years ago so I could look forward to the end of dreary and enjoy the bright yellow white and orange multitude of sizes and shapes of daffodil blossoms that spring forth. This year he bought me another large bunch of bulbs but this time I had to plant them myself. Well, that didn't go so well and I fear the bulbs were not the same excellent quality of the previous lot. I do see the tiny beginnings of poking through the earth so there is hope for them yet.

I realize this picture is not a daffodil however it is the brightest flower I could find to post. We are having a lot of rain so nothing is blooming and it is way too soggy outside to even think of working in the yard or taking photos. So for now I am content inside the house doing chores and listening to the refreshing rain drops on the windows and roof. I did just come back from running some errands in the rain and did not enjoy it at all. My dear Grandma loved this kind of weather so much that in Southern California where she lived she would get in her car and drive in the rain to the coast along the ocean and she was just as happy as could be. I am hoping I will someday have the same love of dreary soggy days just as Grandma had.

Now I definitely think a cup of hot chocolate is in order.

Our weather is sunshine today and the snow is melting from the trees and railings of the decks. We are shoveling lots of snow from our very big and steep driveway. Time to be able to get the cars moved around to their proper garages so hubby can work on them properly.

I have posted a new item on etsy and this is a picture of it. A very fun paper apron. My wonderful and beloved Grandma taught me how to make these many years ago while she was alive. When Somerset Studios magazine announced a "challenge" for their newest publication apron*ology we couldn't resist submitting an apron to them. Unfortunately we Saucy Chicks did not get selected, however we are still hopeful as we have not received our apron back as of yet. In purchasing their first edition of apron*ology and reading it through we Saucy Chicks are somewhat surprised that they didn't select our paper apron. What are they thinking?!?! Maybe the next edition will feature us and our accomplishment. We have actually submitted many items to Somerset Studios and their numerous pulications and we feel very confident that our turn is coming. We know we are worthy!

I am checking my list of to do's and trying to complete some of them today. Listing a new item on etsy and posting a new blog today is definitely a completion of two items on the list.

Bright spot...

Here we are in mid February and winter and yes it is snowing again today. However with my new "cheery, not dreary" attitude I felt it was most appropriate to post this beautiful photo of happy cheery begonia flowers taken last July at Butchart Gardens, Victoria BC.

Today I am sitting at my kitchen table with the blinds wide open even though the heater works harder and I have lots of light from all the white snow on the deck. I am using the notebook computer and editing lots of photos previously taken. I find it much more pleasant to sit here than in the office where there are no windows.

At least I am not in bed with the covers pulled over my head waiting for summer and sunshine and warmth. :-)

A very Happy Valentine's Day to each and everyone.

From the foothills/mountains of Northern California we are having a white snowy winterland.

We, as all of California, so desperately need the water for our survival that we are extremely grateful for this set of storms. It is incredibly beautiful to say the least. I am merely thankful that I do not have to go out driving around in this weather.

Enjoy your Valentine's day with some hot cocoa or...hmmm.

Tuesday tickles...

This is the Saucy Chick studio where we create wonderful things that everyone needs to have. This picture includes our good friend Sylvia who needed an urgent intervention making some lovely anniversary table favors. Of course we did more laughing than anything else. I just love it when the studio is busy and productive.

Lots of ideas and thoughts are getting ready to explode in the studio as the days become warmer and longer. Let's stay tuned for updates.

I am still learning so much on how to do all this wonderful computer technology. The latest to come to me is facebook. My daughter set up her profile and convinced me to become one of her "friends". Okay...now came the tough part. How do I do that? Well, she called me and walked me through the process and it was actually quite simple. Oh, not to say that I didn't have some issues. Some how I became a groupie for Ellen deGeneres and her quotes of the day. What!!! I admit I have watched her show and listened to her comedy routines but a quote of the day groupie is not for me! Luckily I was able to delete that from my facebook profile. I will merely be happy if facebook allows readers to get to our blog and our etsy shop (www.createology.etsy.com). We are still awaiting the first and critical sale so that we can get the stigma of zero sales off our shop. Please do check out our items for sale. Also, we are not getting comments on how this blogging is doing for you readers. We are pretty good at accepting constructive criticism so that we can improve what we are doing.

So, Tuesday tickles is just a mere rambling today and hopefully brought a smile to your faces.

Impossible Pie...

This is for my daughter Shelby as she really wants this recipe of Impossible Pie that I used to make years and years ago. I apologize for the messy dish and the pieces missing but YUM it was good.

Place in a blender the following:

1 C shredded coconut

1/2 C (1 stick) soft BUTTER

1/2 tsp nutmeg or cinnamon or allspice

3/4 C sugar

1/2 C flour

pinch of salt

2 tsp pure vanilla

2 C milk

3 eggs

Blend well and pour into a large greased (Pam spray) piepan.

Bake at 350 degrees in oven approximately 40 minutes. The coconut will form a lovely brownish crust on top and the flour forms its own lower crust. This pie tastes like a coconut custard. I like it warm from the oven or cold from the frig. I just like it! YUMMY!
