Ari's Logic

Joe: Ari your big, you can go to sleep by yourself.
Ari: No I'm not.
Joe: Yes you are.
Ari: But if I stand up I'm not as tall as you.

Mom: Can I play with your Mustang.
Ari: Well, be careful. It might "stang" you.

And something you don't want to hear your 3 year old say:
Ari: Hey Mom. Me and IZikkity both have hookers
(referring to hooks on their trains. of course.)

Not Baby Animal Days

The Saturday before last we had big plans to attend Baby Animal Days at the Heritage Center with the Gallegos crew. Claud called the morning of and said "we might just want to go for a hike instead" to which I instantly said "let's do it." We ended up meeting 1/2 way between our homes at Antelope Island. A nice walk to look for Bison poop, a stroll on the beach, and a hot dog tailgate/minivans rock when trying to eat in the wind shelter party. So nice. So very nice.

Ari is Hillarious

Isaac is completely obsessed with Ari. He thinks he's the COOLEST kid ever. When it's just Isaac and I at home he gets crabby, then immediately lights up when Ari returns. Aside from being cool, and having cool toys (Isaac prefers Ari's toys to his lame "baby" toys) Ari is REALLY funny. I managed to capture two such occasions on video.

The first was something that happened a few weeks ago. Ari was jumping on his bed; I went in to tell him to stop jumping but before I could Isaac started laughing hysterically and practically jumped out of my arms. I sat down on the bed with him and the two of them "bounced" (because we don't jump on the beds) and laughed and bounced and laughed. I wish I would have had a video camera for that first "bouncing" session, we were all three laughing so hard we could hardly breath.

This video was taken while we were on campus waiting for some military helicopters to take off. We waited for over an hour to see them take flight, so we had to think of ways to entertain ourselves. Luckily Ari and Isaac entertained each other.

I love how much these two adore each other. And I'm glad I have proof that no matter what happens from here on out, once upon a time, they really did love each other.

Attempting to Distract Children

I had but one goal on Monday. Clean out my closet. Seems so simple being that my closet is smaller than a port-a-pottie. But I couldn't clean it when Isaac was napping since we share a room, so I had distract the children.

Attempt 1: Jumping. Lasted at least 5 minutes.

Attempt 2: Pawn Ari off on the neighbors and distract Isaac with toys. Lasted at least 15 minutes (photo below of him during his content state). I figured Isaac's usually content to watch Ari play trains, why wouldn't he enjoy watching me clean a closet. I was wrong. He got restless and we ended up joining Ari at the neighbors.

By Tuesday my closet was clean.

Easter

This is the only Easter event I took photos of. This was the day before Easter at Gumps (Joe's parents). As you can see Ari and cousin Samuel had a good time coloring Easter eggs.

Easter morning both my children woke up CRABBY! At 10:00 Joe and I loaded them in the van and drove them back to sleep while we listened to Conference. We drove up and checked out the Oneida narrows section of the Bear River (it passed as a section of river I could easily kayak on my own). The kids woke up at about 11:00 in slightly better spirits, but still not to the point where anyone was feeling festive. Ari perked up for about an hour in the afternoon so we did a little Easter scavenger hunt, which he loved, then slipped back into crabby mode. Overall, not a very good day. Unfortunately.

But hey. Saturday was fun...

Look Who Decided to Eat

At 7 moths old Isaac has finally decided he's interested in food. Problem is getting him to hold still long enough to eat it. Today at dinner Isaac was being particularly crazy which was making Ari laugh, which was making Isaac laugh, which was making Ari laugh, which was making... you get the idea. I mean really. Look at this kid.

And this is what happens when you give him a bite of food. It's like inserting a quarter in some sort of buck n' bronco machine. He's crazy. In a cute sort of way.

Spring Break '10 - Climbing Lessons

Our last Spring Break adventure took place in St.G. We took my nieces climbing for the first time. They did awesome. I was the proud Aunt taking lots of photos, which Kaylie (pictured climbing) took to show-and-tell along with her harness and shoes. This photo was my favorite, I loved Addies (pictured standing) alternative climbing clothing. I love those girls, different as night and day.

Spring Break '10 - Not a Lake

Have you ever spent hours upon hours on a dusty road trying to get to a lake that you can't get too? I've done this too many times over the last few years. You would think I'd have learned my lesson by now. The lakes are low. The parts you can get to are now tamarix fields. It's not worth rallying your minivan on 4WD roads.

This "lake" excursion took us all day. Photos:
1. The destination, oh oh, we're getting close.
2. Hummm, the map says we are in the lake.
3. There is no lake here.

It was just one of those days you have to chalk up as a loss.

Mother Natures Cruel April Fools Joke
