They're Here!!! :-)

Whooohooo! My exchange blocks from Bingo~Bonnie arrived today~ and I love 'em! :-)

I just had to play with them! I laid out all of the blocks we exchanged, and then added the 8 I have finished for next time~ I am so excited to get back to these, but I have to pace myself. ;-) I have to work on the other blocks first. Maybe that will motivate me to get the others done quicker~? lol I guess we'll see about that! I did sew up a bunch more Triangulations for the Ocean Waves blocks while I was waiting for the mailman. ;-)

**In case you've missed it the block we are making is from QuiltersCache, designed by Marcia Hohn. ;-)

Have a great weekend and until next time~

Changed My Mind!~

Who said 'it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind'? I don't know, but it is one of my favorite sayings! :-) Especially when I change my mind! lol! :-) I know I said I would put these blocks away and get started on my jewel box blocks~ and I kinda did~ I pressed up a bunch of 30's FQ's for the jewel boxes. ;-) But these guys kept calling me back and I now have another 8 blocks finished for the next time I swap with Bingo~Bonnie. :-) Now I really do need to stop because I ran out of the small HST's again and need to make up some more triangulations sheets. :-) Once again these are My Blue Heaven blocks from Quilters Cache. ;-)

I also have a bunch of Ocean Waves blocks to sew. So you never know what my next post will be about. ;-) With any luck, it might be jewel box blocks! :-))

Until next time~

Colorblocks~

My sewing machine has been so happy to be running the last few days!~ And I'm happy too! lol :-) I almost have my first round of colorblocks completed. (see blue link box in sidebar) I just have 3 or 4 more to sew up. This really is a fast and easy block! I can't wait for the rainbow of blocks to return to me in July, but in the meantime I plan to get to work on round 2. :-) Along with all my other swap blocks etc. ~ gotta keep that machine happy!!! ;-)

Hope you are finding time to sew too!

Until next time~

One of these things is not like the others~

:-) Did you play that game with your children? We did~ a lot! :-)) The little song just came to mind as I was separating blocks for Bingo~Bonnie. Let's back up a minute... ~I got to sew!~ And I got caught up on trading blocks with her, my dozen will be in tomorrow's mail. :-) We are swapping My Blue Heaven blocks~ from Marcia Hohn's QuiltersCache. (check out the photo's on Bonnie's blog!)

Anyway I was going along 'one for you, one for me' and the block on the right jumped out! Now what is wrong with this picture?! .... Do you see it?? ~I twisted the lower right HST patch! :-o Lucky I caught it before sending them off! lol! It is all fixed now and in my pile. :-))

I didn't take a photo of the one's going to Bonnie, or mine. I will when hers arrive and I lay them all out together. In the meantime~ I sewed a bunch more Triangulations HST's for the next dozen blocks! :-)

And I finished the table runner and also made a little Quilters Chatelaine for my friend. The chatelaine pattern is from Lynette Jensen at Thimbleberries. Look in her free patterns. ;-) I love how it turned out!

That's all for now~

Until next time~

~A Giveaway~~

Head on over to Silver Thimble Talk for a great giveaway!! :-) Oh what the heck~ take your time :-)) ~I'd really like to win this one! LOL :-)

Happy Stitchin'!

~Pincushions~

I joined a pincushion swap on the HGTV forum a few months ago, and now it is time to finish them up and get them in the mail! :-) These are the cushions I'll be sending... The chickens are stuffed with a combination of fiberfill and emery filings to give them a little weight to stand up. I got the idea for them from a friend who was making stuffed animals for children. The flowerpots were an experiment and I wish they would've had saucers with them for the bottom~ they could be a little more stable. And for the felted wool things, I used a pattern by Shirley Stevenson called 'Penny Rug Pin Cushions'~ those took the most time because there is a lot of hand stitching in them! :-o And I'm still not so speedy at hand work. ;-) Hopefully in a couple weeks I'll be able to show you what I get back! :-)

I spent yesterday outside puttering with flowers but today I think I'll sew a few more colorblocks.

I hope y'all are having a great weekend!

Until next time~

Sewing and Finger-Pointing! :-)

This morning I got to work quilting up a small 4 patch table runner I put together last week~ or has it been 2 weeks ago? :-o Anyway, I always get 'stuck' when it comes to what to quilt on it. I wanted this one to be simple, but not stitch in the ditch~ so I did diagonal lines thru the 4 patches. And after I was about half way thru 'eyeballing' how to get the line somewhat even,... LOL my eyes aren't in straight! :-)) I remembered that little thingy in the sewing machine box and tried it~ worked like a charm!! You can see it better in the photo if you click the pic and make it bigger. That didn't work so I made it bigger. ;-) It's like a little arm. Now, I hope I remember it next time!

~And here's the runner with just the hand work to finish up.

And now for the finger-pointing!~~ :-)) It is all Jane's fault!! (and I seriously thought about calling this post 'Blame it On Jane'!!) LOL :-))) Yes, I did it, I joined the 4 Season's Quilt Block Swap that Jane talked about. :-o I know! I'm crazy!! ...but aren't the blocks cute??? :-))) There is still room to join! LOL :-))

Now I'm off to play with fabric!~

Until next time~

Happy Stitchin'!!

Thanks Mary!! :-)

My friend Mary at Quilting in Oz posted a 'recipe' a while back for a lotion that she says works wonderfully on dry skin. See her post ~here~ After reading about her 'Fantastic Lotion', I searched my dollar stores... and searched ...and searched. I could not find all the ingredients~ specifically the Vit E. Mary told me to keep searching that it would be worth it, :-) so then I blew up her photo and realized that particular dollar store isn't in my area. Bummer. :-( Next I went to the local discount mart and found some in smaller sizes. Which is perfect for me, because I had planned to make half a batch anyway. Well, I made it up on Sunday and I have been loving it! Mary is so right~ your feet, elbows, back just love this stuff! My hands even like it, but because of the petroleum jelly, it is a little too much for normal daytime use.~ instead use it as a nighttime spa! :-) In just 3 days I am noticing a difference in how much less 'itchy' I am! So thanks Mary!!! :-)))

Playing On Friday~

The floral swap and family stuff made this a pretty busy week, so today I am playing! :-) I pulled out the blocks Bingo~Bonnie and I are swapping~~ I'm feeling really behind! I'm not sure when we said we'd mail, or how many blocks, but I just know I am behind on these. ;-) (Bonnie, if you are reading this, can you refresh my memory?? :-) ) And I shouldn't be behind! Bonnie is way busier than I am! And they are a fun and easy block to do! The Triangulations make them super easy! :-) The hard part, if you can even call it that, is having enough variety of small HST's to make the blocks different from each other. I laid out all the HST's that I've done so far and discovered I am really a bit green and gold crazy! :-o So I made up a few more batches of HST's with purples and next I have some red ones to do. I made up 6 blocks from these combinations~ 3 for Bonnie and 3 for me. Now off to find some more fabrics for the mini HST's! :-) I need more colors! :-)

Have a happy weekend! And until next time~

Happy Stitchin'!! :-))

Mama's Got a New Bag~

I finished up my new bag this morning. :-) It's the pattern 'The X Bag' by Four Corners Designs. I changed a few things~ I always do! LOL :-) I didn't want one side of the bag to be the primary color with lining peeking up because then on the other side the lining is the primary bag part, so I put denim for both sides and the lining on the inside. That is why my lining doesn't show on the under pocket part like it shows in the pattern. I ironed Decor Bond to the lining pieces to make it hold its shape~ that was a bugger to sew thru all the layers for the bottom! :-o Yikes! But my trusty Pfaff blazed through. ;-) Also, I've done velcro tabs on other purses and the velcro never works so hot, so this time I made a tab with a big button. The button has a secret purpose for me as it marks the side with the inside pocket. I gotta have an inside pocket! The pattern didn't have one, so I kind of guessed at placement~ its a little low, but will do the trick for me. It is for my sunglasses. :-) I think I'm going to like this bag! :-)

Now I really must get back to quilting and stitcheries! I am behind in everything! :-o So until next time~~

Happy Stitchin' to you!! :-)

Finished! :-)

Yay! The graduation raggy denim/flannel is clipped, washed, fluffed and ready to go. :-) And I'm a good 2 weeks ahead of the party~ I especially like that! LOL :-) If you are wondering, the pattern is from a 2003 issue of Traditional Quiltworks magazine. It's by Evelyn Sloppy and is called 'Country Denim Stars'. I have been making this quilt for the guy graduates we know for a number of years now. :-)) I've even made it for a couple gals with hearts instead of stars. The original pattern has a lot more stars to it, I changed that when I started adding pocket and seam pieces of denim. I'll have a few more to make next year, so guess I'd better start collecting jeans again. ;-)

This is a view of the back or flannel side~

Oh! After I clip it, I wash it at home. I made an oversized bag with a zipper in it specifically for washing these to keep the fuzz out of the washer. A good shake outside and a tumble in the dryer and it's ready to go~ be sure to check your dryer lint trap often!~ like every 5 minutes at first because the lint does build up fast! No one wants a dryer fire! :-o
Until next time~

Floral Blocks As Far As the Eye Can See!~

The floral 9-patches that I am swapping are finally on the tables. :-) I worked all day today swapping. It always amazes me when I get over 400 blocks and have only one or two people end up using the same fabrics! Isn't that neat? This time the swappers were primarily from the states, with one from Australia. The gals love it when we have an international swapper in the mix! ;-) This is what it looked like this morning~ 4 tables loaded with floral blocks! Tonight I am down to one table as I recount the blocks and bag them back up. Tomorrow I will do some more and maybe be ready to start mailing them home on Monday or Tuesday.

Hope you are having a good evening!

Until next time~

Let the Clipping Begin!~

Yay! I finally got the raggy flannel/denim together~ bet you were getting tired of hearing about it! LOL :-) The next time you see it, it will be all clipped, washed, fluffed and ready to give. ;-) The clipping starts tonight, but will probably take a few days. I have clipped an entire quilt in an evening, but it is not fun and I wouldn't recommend it. :-) Your hand gets too tired! LOL And blisters aren't pretty. ;-) Lucky for me, this one isn't needed until next month~ plenty of time for clipping and ragging. ;-))

Until next time~

...and Working!

Remember this post? Well it has only taken me almost a month to get back to the flannel/denim quilt! :-o LOL Today I made the blocks and got them all trimmed. I arranged them on the floor, but now my back is pinching me. :-/ Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get them sewn together. ~ At least I'm back to sewing! Yay! :-))

Until tomorrow~

Happy Stitchin'!!

I'm Still Here~

..just not sewing so much! :-o Hopefully, I can fix that today!

I just wanted to let y'all know about a fabulous giveaway Barb at Bejeweled Quilts is having while she is on vacation. It is fun to follow her journey and see what she adds to her giveaway box each day! :-) Have fun Barb!

Now I'm going to go sew!~
Have a happy day!!

Time Flies!

Oh my goodness! I cannot believe it is the end of August!  Where have I been? Everywhere!  But recently welcoming this cutie has been the hi...
