My Little Sister's Married!

Kayla got married on Saturday. She was quite the beautiful bride. All of us sisters got to dress up too! We each had the same dress (I made a skirt from a left over dress and some brown fabric for Marcy), and Mindy made the jewelry. We had so much fun at the reception and at the temple. She's now Mrs. Kayla Hostetter. Congrats!!!

Legend of the 1000 cranes- According to Japanese lore, folding 1,000 Origami Cranes is truly a labor of love. In Japan, the tradition of folding 1,000 cranes is done when someone has a wish, be it for peace, health or luck. An old Japanese legend said that anyone who folds a thousand paper cranes so pleases the gods, the folder is granted a wish. An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury. The crane in Japan is one of the mystical or holy creatures (others include the dragon and the tortoise), and is said to live for a thousand years. In Asia, it is commonly said that folding 1000 paper origami cranes makes a person's wish come true. This makes them popular gifts for special friends and family. A thousand paper cranes is also traditionally given as a wedding gift by the folder, who is wishing a thousand years of happiness and prosperity upon the couple.

Adelie's Funnies...

Lately, Adelie's been saying some really funny things. Here are some samples:

1) In the morning, just before breakfast. "Dad, your breath needs to take a bath!"

2) Adelie was dragging behind a little bit. Then she said, "Hey guys! Catch up!"

3) At the dinner table, there was silence (meaning my kids actually like what I cooked!!!). Then, out of the blue, Adelie says, "Dad-do you wanna get married and kiss a girl?"

I'm so glad little kids make parenting fun and interesting.

Zac's #1

Zac turned 1 yesterday. I thought he'd be more into his cake, but with all the attention from strangers, coaxing him to "dig in," he shied away and we ended up with just a little dab here and there. He did manage to step in it though.
It was a fun experience shopping down the boy aisles at the toy store and finding really good deals on wheels, Wheels, WHEELS...Zac's favorite! So far, there isn't a toy that he doesn't want to play with. You did good!!!

Bug Book

Cambri's making a bug book, and today found a caterpillar!!! We were so excited to take pictures of it. When we put it on the rocks, it climbed into the hole and a SPIDER got it! We were so sad and almost cried. Anyway, I took out the rock that the spider was hiding in and got some pretty FREAKY pics of the spider with the caterpillar in it's mouth. It's like National Geographic all over again!!!

Here's some other pics we've taken for her bug book. Once it's done, I'll post it!!!

Finally, something to post about...

I've been having a blogger's cramp all month now. Our computer got a Trojan Virus that just put a sick taste in my mouth and haven't wanted to blog, facebook, surf the net, or anything that has to do with the computer.

Anyway, but this is just too cute to pass up.

Cambri's in a ballet called, "The Legend of the Rubies of Rosewood." She's a goldfish and I'm so proud of her. She's worked really hard (for a 6 yr. old), and she absolutely loves getting all dressed up with her "face" on, and performing on the stage. She even smiles!

She's also in a Jazz class on the side and they had their recital last Saturday. She and her class danced to "Who Let the Dogs Out," and "I Like to Move-it, Move-it." I have to say that there's nothing more great than watching a bunch of 5-6 year olds shake it!!!

Way to go Cambri!!!

Ponytail Perm...

I love to change my hair. I can't go very long without doing something wild or crazy to it. Since I'm trying to grow it out and didn't want to cut it, I thought I'd look at some of the permanant waving options. It's was crazy! I had gray, purple, and red worm looking perming rollers that were about 10 inches long, and could bend...I looked like a freaky thing straight out of an 80's music video!!! (crazier than this picture below-)

But thanks to my good friend, Randilee, my hair is now full of body, texture, and all sorts of fun waves. (pictures will probaby come here or on facebook after I can wash it for the first time...ya know, the whole 48 hours thing...)

Just before my own hair adventure, Zac got his first hair cut, or whatever you can call it...I'm no way near as efficient as Randilee, but we tackled it together better than I expected.
Before: Fuzz

After: Even Fuzzier

He's CrAwLiNg...

So, my Little Zac is not longer immobile. He just started crawling yesterday, and is still a little drunk puppy. But, very likely, he'll be pro in no time.

From now on, I'll be...

  • Vaccuming EVERYDAY
  • Baby proofing my house
  • Keeping a wary eye out
  • Creating barriers for the stairs that prevent Zac from falling, yet allows US to still use them without tripping...
  • Lowering the crib mattress
  • Tripping on the little guy
  • and much more as time goes by...

Wish me luck!
