One of the many items from the NEW Stampin' Up Catalog that I have been itching to get my fingers busy with is the Petite Pennant Punch. I fell in love with it so much that it was one of my first purchases and I decided from the start that I would make a card with it for the August Stampin' Up! Hostess Club members. I was certain I would be able to make a card that I would be excited to show the club members. Have you ever had that feeling that you just couldn't wait?! Just to then be uninspired when you sit down to create with it? Hmmm... a dirty nasty problem I was determined to over come!

I thought to myself the best way to beat my non-mojo mood was to just "Do It"! My newest motto;) So, here are a few of the cards that finally led up to the actual card I will present to the club members (which you will have to wait until next week to see)
Now, I like this one just fine enough because it not only uses the punch and stamp set but also the designer series paper. But, it just didn't seem quite fancy enough.

With this card I wanted to fancy it up so I attempted to make rosettes. Well...I think I need a little practice. I thought if I can't make rosettes easily how can I expect the club to? LOL

And, the finally I wanted to go out of the box, use the pennant punch to make something a little less obvious. Watermelons! A little bit of masking & inking later ...
I enjoyed playing around making all these cards. Please come back early next week and I'll post the outcome to all this mojo.

Peek in on some Crafty Therapy

This week I enjoyed several hours with card stock, scissors & adhesives! I made such a lovely mess I took some pictures to prove my productivity! Most of the cards are still in productivity so I'll have to wait to post them.

I have heard people claim their craftiness was a form of therapy. And, until recently I personally have not experienced that feeling. But, I am happy to share I reached the mountain top! LOL, I felt the therapy in my craft room! I suspect my exhaustion from being a new Mom had a lot to do with it! My mind was naturally turned off (from exhaustion) and I just let the glitter fly and hands got a little colored with ink. Oh, it felt GOOD!!

My Mother loved "Good n Plenty" licorice candy. Recently my taste buds have takin a likn' to them too! I laugh at how they look similar to pills. I suppose in a way they are my medicine...atleast on this day- I am able to control my deisre to stuff them in my mouth because they do not have tons of sugar. Good n Plenty- the perfect compliment to my crafty therapy! Give it a try, maybe it'll work for you too :)) lol

Another inspiration has been the NEW Stampin' Up! Catalog! I made a small order of a few of my top ten must have list. I could hardly wait to dig into the box and play. Well, that went on for a bout 3 weeks- with the box of new goodies sitting on my craft table, calling my name and saying, "come play with me". When I finally listened to the calling I honestly felt stress melt off my shoulders. I am reminded of the NIKE sports moto of "just do it!". too many times I push my hobby to the side thinking I'll get to it when I can. Making time for myself is a necessity for my mental well being! I think I will do it more often!

July Card Swap, Card

The July Card Swap theme was "masculine". Unfortunately I do not have a lot of experience in making masculine cards so this was certainly a challenge to me! At first I thought I would create a boy card then I changed my mind and started planning a summerish card that only leaned gently into masculine. However, in the end I decided to stretch myself and jump right into masculine.

One of the only masculine stamp sets I have in my collection is the SU Nature Silhouettes. I've always loved it but it was till unmounted and unused! That got my mojo working! It was time to pull it out, assemble it and I hit the split coast gallery. And, was I inspired! Here is the final product:

Stamp sets: SU Lovely as a Tree & Nature Silhouettes
Ink: SU Old Olive & Chocolate Chip, Versa Mark
Paper: SU Chocolate Chip & naturals ivory, SU DSP newspaper print
Other: heat gun, Embossing Powder Copper Dreams, pop dots
