Altered pocket watch

I have had these Pocket watches for some time and I finally decided to use the last two I had left. These Art Parts (I think they're called) are jolly good fun to play with ;0) There is an old necklace and bracelet taken apart to add interest and I am really pleased with the way the colours all turned out.

Here's a lovely close up ;0) Of course You know I have a love for TH but not just him. I have found some lovely bits n bobs around. Shame though,  the shop that I used to use (The Altered Element) is no more. Where do you find all these lovely things like fountain pen nibs and brass keys bottle tops etc Do let me know if you have a supplier of the unusual ;0)

I couldn't get 'The cat in the Hat out of my head after making the tag the other day, so I had to have a play lol and this is what I came up with ;0)

I am going to stick findings to these to make broaches, although I have a feeling my son Shawn (now at Uni in London) with have this one and pop a chain on it. He's just daft enough to wear it lol. I would like to join in with Simon Says Stamp & Show they want you to play with Ideology and of course stamp My top Pocket watch qualify's beautifully, you also have time to join in if you wish. The DT have given some wonderful inspiration. And not to forget Studio3 the lovely Linda who encourages us to have some wearble art this week please pop along to Tim and check out new ideas as well. Hope you have a wonderful day. Love Dawn xx

Tags shabby chic style

Morning every one, I hope your week is going well. I am currently in a tag mood so I thought I would make some tags today. As you can see there are two tags and I have used the same image. Look how different the tags are even though I have used similar colour pallets and similar items. I love the shabby chic look and although it's Autumn I have used Tim's distress inks so the pinks are rather subdued. I really love making the backgrounds,  I inked them all over then splashed with water and dried to achieve the effect. I also used Tim's technique with the Perfect Pearls on one tag by stamping swirls adding the PP and then drying. As I covered most of the swirls I also used the Technique with the stamp at the bottom You can get more information about this challenge on Linda's Blog So I am entering the tag on the right for the challenge.

Here you can see better in the close ups of the tags. The image (lady) looks rather sad, I think her Fiance was unable to make it to the church on time, why? I will let you decide ;0) Thank you again for stopping by. If you're in to journaling at all why not stop by my other blog Journal Journey's I run a challenge each month you still have time to get your entry in, I hope to see you there. Love Dawn xx

Grungy Monday 14

Hello it's getting late here in UK 9.30pm. I haven't been around much because the weather has been SO wonderful, I love the sun ;0) So I have been catching up with some reading I have read four books in the last ten days really good fun to read. Any way Monday is here and I have to go and play with Linda from Studio L3 and Tim the master of grunge ;0) And this challenge was lots of fun this week especially playing with Perfect Pearls (PP) & Distress Ink Refills (DIR) so much fun and really great product!

I liked playing with the PP & DIR so much I had to do two at the same time and aren't they vibrant colours, the pigment is fab! One tag is kinda soft steam punk and the other? Well ladies and butterfly's what else is needed, so yummy ;0) You can see the backgrounds in these close ups and the resist technique works really well, so don't forget to pop along to Tims for the technique. I also did some extra stamping coloured with Copics and cut out then added to a tag (Butterfly) and on the other I added some more of Tims goodies as well as a vintage pocket watch face (enamelled) to help give different textures and 3D appearance. Thank you for stopping by, I always appreciate your comments and encouragement. Love Dawn xx

I have also used some stamps from Dylusions. I do love the products that make up the dylustions range. and you can see a close up of the colours I hope you like this some times simple is best and I think I should have stayed simple but saying that I am happy with the out come. Thank you for stopping by Love Dawn xx

Altered cigar Box

Hello, another Monday morning and we begin another week horah! lol. What did you do over the BH week end? Well it was hubby's B'day yesterday but as it was the Sabbath we celebrated on Saturday and we had a lovely day together and a meal and shopping it was a good day. He opened his gifts after church, he even got the sweetest phone call from our Grand son James. And we heard some wonderful words from our living prophet which soothed and healed. I really do love Sundays. We have no plans for BH Monday but I am scheduling this just in case the weather turns nice and we want to pop out. I bought some cigar boxes on Sat. while we were out. Love them, all shapes and sizes, so be prepared to see a few more in the coming weeks, This is a wooden one.

I had gotten completely fed up with my draw being FULL of TH things (do not miss understand) I love my things but so bulky in their packaging so I kept the packaging I thought may be useful (this months CS has some ideas from the lovely Hels) & the rest was binned. I then popped it all in this box and there is still room for more (that it good news;0) he he, and my draw also has more room for more crafty items. I am fast running out of space, I can tell you and so I have to stop buying or make more room. So you can guess what I did ;0) Yep made more room. I hope you continue to have a lovely BH in the UK or Memorial weekend if your in the US. Love Dawn xx

Grungy Monday 08

Good afternoon from England to all my bloggy visitors today. Phew what horrid weather we are having here in the NW all weekend it's been dreadful. But Grunge Monday at Linda's is always there to put a smile on the face :0) Yes it's another week of the challenge that so many of us have a go at. And we are using another of Tim Holtz techniques from 2008 so click to have a look.

Here is a close up, I have used some Stampin' Up! & Sweet & Sassy Stamps to create this little tag/topper? I haven't decided yet. But it did get me thinking that you can make up a few of these ready to pop on a card or even a journal page etc just nice little extra ready to glue in place if you haven't a lot of time but still completely hand made original just from you. Have a go and stop by this grate challenge blog to get all the details. Love Dawn xx

Grungy Monday

Hello, Wednesday again, if you want to have a nosey on my desk (WOYWW) you will have to click Here there is also still time to enter my give away. Now, I am having lots of fun with  Tim's Technique. Another really easy one and I love easy when I need to do a quick card or tag in this case, don't you?

Here's a close up. You can see (I hope) that the saying is covered in clear EP melted to give some dimension as well as texture. I think this technique will come in handy lots of times. If you would like to join in the challenge pop over to see Linda over at Studio L3 Have a lovely day every one. Love Dawn xx

Grungy Monday

Hi, Hope your well and enjoying your crafting journey's where ever you are. This is my second post of the day, I would like to say welcome to my new followers, Penny Gerri & Debs I have to your blogs and what wonderful artists you all are thank you for sharing my crafty journey. Now Grungy Monday, I had to play with this technique of Tim's this week Linda from Studio L3 is asking us to play and get all grungy with tim. This week I liked the technique so much I have already done a few tags ready for when I need one. I love this technique because it's easy & effective.

I was going to go all out steam punk style with this but in the end I went for a softer approach with these new stamps from Crafty Individuals I love corsets (not that I would wear them like the kids do these days ;0) I hope You will stop by again soon, please leave a comment and let me know you were here. Love Dawn xx

Grungy tag!

It's Grunge Monday #2 over at Linda's StudioL3 is a really good challenge this week. I am going to have to get some foam to make some of my very own stamps. And of course this is the wonderful Tim Holtz idea but pop along and have a look for your self.

Here is the close up. I wont go into details of how it was done obviously, but I have used tim's DIs and  Art parts from studio 490. I also used stickles to make my very own swirls and Dylusions paints, I have fell in love with these and her ink sprays to, not as expensive as some but just as good (but kinda better in their own way). As usual I am popping round lots of blogs and seeing lots of great art. I have found a couple of new blogs (added them to my list on the right) I have a switch around and add some newbies when I find them so why not pop round and have a look at a few new blogs this week. You never know what you may find ;0) You can also find some candy on the left (some very yummy stuff) and I have also found a couple more FREE image blogs, I love my freebies (don't we all?) Hello to my new followers, I am so fortunate to have you join me on my arty journey. I hope I can inspire you as you all inspire me. Love Dawn xx

Card,Tag & challenges

Good morning, I am SO tired and the weather is  on the change to a more wet and colder few days so the weatherman say's I have been crafting a wee bit ;0) and having fun. And I can see many of you have to. I have been doing the rounds and your all so busy. This is how I have come to know about the  Less is More challenge there is a sketch to follow this week and as always you have to keep things to a minimum. This can be harder than any card to make sometimes but I loved the challenge of it. Another challenge this fits is The Play Date Cafe challenge they have a lovely colour combo this week of White Blue and Lilac and I think this is a lovely combination. So pop by these challenge blogs if you can and join in.

Here's a close up I have used stamps from Oxford Impressions and a couple of cuttlebug EF some of the co-ordinations card stock so I could sand it down for added texture and interest.

I really had fun creating this, I have used several of tim's dies to create this and I have used a few stamps (crafty secrets) with faux stiching and a lovely sentiment. I am going to enter this in to Tag Tuesday which is 'vintage sewing' this week.

Here's a close up showing the tag in more detail, you can see the EP and stamped back ground as well as more detail on the actual die cut. I have to say even though I stayed up all night creating several pieces and getting ahead with comments and posts I am really happy and I am off to bed for a few hours so my eyes will at least stay open. What a silly thing to do, stay up all night! Love Dawn xx

RELAX

Relax, yeh right lol but this lady is very relaxed in her lovely chair. There are quite a few techniques on this tag. I have been at it with paint and wax again ;0) not forgetting a transfer as well. This is for a couple of  challenges one is a brand new one, there only in their 2nd week and they are Paint Party Friday (PPF) This is going to be a popular one I can tell. From what I have read there are no specifics as long as you use paint, I think they will be more challenging as it goes on, with types of paint to use etc. The other challenge is also a new one, I am excited about this one to. This is over at the lovely Linda's blog and it's called Grunge Monday. pop over for details about this challenge needless to say Tim Holtz is a continuing theme.

Here is a close up, like I said plenty of paint and wax, some old book pages and the torso from Tim's new die cut, sewing room. I love it so much lol. Well that's it for today I hope you have a chance to comment, I love hearing what you have to say and it also gives me a chance to pop along to a new blog if you haven't commented before. A big hello to my new followers to Josie & Janna so lovely to see you and I hope you enjoy the journey I am on, I have been to both blogs and they are lovely and full of talent. It's time to get a move on with the rest of the day. Love always Dawn

Tag & Challenges

How are you, this fine day? I love playing with tags, sadly one of the challenges I like to play has stopped, thankfully though some lovely person has taken up the mantle YAY! Rebecca New Tag Tuesday and what better than 'Spring' so here we are with a Spring tag I hope others will join in too. And over with Hel's of Sunday Stampers it's all about die cuts.

Here's a close up. I have used two of Tim's DC today the little bird cage and bird (how cute?) and also the stand from the dress form. The back ground stamps are all SU and all the inks are also Tim's I used some EP on the flower so it stands out IRL The gold ink is Ink it up! and I coloured my little bird with some stabilo pens. Who needs a gilded cage when Spring is here. Love Dawn xx

I sadly was told today (Thurs) one of my friends at church has died today. It's a loss to be sure but I am happy that she is with our lord and saviour and her pain is over, she had several strokes and has been in hospital since before Christmas. I do not know when the funeral is as yet but if I disappear for a few days you know why, in the mean time I have scheduled this post for Fri. Love to all of you D xx

Compendium of Curiosities #31

Hello, You don't often see me on a Saturday, however, I really wanted to join a couple of challenges one is with a new group I have joined it's called Bella Creations There are many groups within BC you can join but I just had to join the group called Ooh La La And the image used here is the one we were asked to use So I have printed it on to sticky canvass. I am also entering Linda's Rusty Enamel challenge from Tim Holtz CC book Page 49 this week.

Here is a close up of the image and you can quite clearly see the enamel work too! There was some little pieces of sticky canvass left. Although not big enough for an image I used it for the Paris stamp so add as an embellishment. Well nice to be here on a Saturday for a change. see you soon. Love Dawn xx

For my Sweet Hubby

Morning gang ;0) If you read yesterdays post you will know that  hubby and I have our Anniversary on Thursday, and we are still very much in love Aah lol. So with the next event on the crafty calender being Valentines I thought I would use this theme to create a card for hubby and fit a few challenges in while I'm at it lol. Over at Studio L3 Linda is having fun again each Monday with Tim's Book and this week it's rusty grunge. I really do like this technique. I am also playing along with GSC I am using Petra's idea of scraps. And lastly  Artistic Stamper who want to see wings.

The lights was so poor this morning despite us having more snow in the NW of UK today. Here you can see a wee bit better the details of the rusty grunge key which I give to my hubby who used it to set my heart free to love him for all eternity *swoon* the heart is slightly raised over the grungy alcohol inked cage. The wings and heart are made form scraps as well as the obvious vintage music paper. I hope your NY is going as planned and your all well, I'll be popping round a few blogs today to see what you have all been up to. Love Dawn xx

12 Tags! Seven

I am catching up lol. Haven't the 12 tags made everything speed up? I really enjoyed making this tag (well  have enjoyed making them all) I loved the flower and I used tattered angels sprays the petals and leaves really shimmer beautifully. I put rock candy all over the background so this fit's in to a challenge over at Linda's I have missed so many. (Bad Dawnie) I love Linda's blog and the CCC so much fun.

I bought the textures ages ago, but just haven't used them at all. 12 tags to the rescue lol. I think I will pretty much use everything I have Tim Holtz and wanting to go to the shop for more, I wonder how many of you feel exactly the same? I blinged the flower up with 'Dimond Stickles' You can just see the distress stickles on this photo under the JOY I love it's subtleness, it looks like morning due on the tree trunk. I hope your having a fab week end where ever you are. Try to craft as well as shop ;0) (more for me than you =) Love Dawn xx

12 Tags! Six

Your going to be sick of seeing me I'm here so often lol Third post of the day so please skip back and have a look.  The 12 tags are on the go and I am having lots of fun doing them.  Didn't have a lot as you can see but that was half the fun using Tim as a guide line (this is suppose to be trees and deer) Well I used the same technique on the snowman. I stamped an image on the back of some grunge paper (on the reverse obviously) then cut out carefully then I run through my cuttle bug with the Swiss dots I have Also used the Christmas tree.

Here's my close up. I ave also used some metallic rub for the gold (I used the end of a pant brush to dab here and there. It's so shimmery when it hits the light. Now I have more to post but I think I'll save it until tomorrow I am sure you have seen enough of me today lol. Love Dawn xx

12 Tags! Five

Hello again, its me I know 2nd post of the Day my SCD tag is below! So how dark is it at half past three where you live? I can't believe it and by four o'clock its SO dark. Can you believe Christmas is only two weeks away? I am usually SO organised but with all the illness and stuff  I'm not organised at all. But the tree is up and a home made reef is on the front door. But that's it lol no pressies no pantry (under the stairs lol) full of biscuits, crackers, crisps, juice, sweetie tins. You know what I mean all the stuff you can get a head of time to make the Christmas shop that much easier. Oh well not to worry still have TWO short weeks left ha ha ha.

Back to the tag. Lots missing to make this one! my Santa stamp isn't quite as big so he looks a little alone there lol I cut out some card stock and covered it in transparent Croco paint then the next morning I filled all the cracks with distress ink using Tim's Distress tool. Loved messing with my transparent Croco, it's also good if you want to paint something any colour then add a layer on top and you get a great crackle effect. Don't for get to look below this post for the SCD challenge. Love Dawn xx

12 Tags! Four

I'm back, I haven't done Two posts in one day for ages lol. I was going to use this for my design project for SCD but I thought nah, I'll make something else. So make sure you pop back tomorrow. I love popping round to see your creations ;0)

I can not tell you how hard I found this snow flake thing was to do for me, I tried lots of times. However, I was using stazon (black) and it just wouldn't give the detail I wanted. So I wondered to my self, would archival ink make a BIG difference, now I only have one colour (sepia) but I thought well with any luck it won't matter as I am taking the ink off. It SO matters that you use the archival ink. I got this result first time! Hope you liked my version of Timmy's tag 4. I have still to catch up but I have to say today's tag (tag 9) is my fave one yet! What about you? are you playing along? You don't have to do them all. I quite like one simple tag multiplied for all the gifts I send. After I have finished these I never want to give them away lol. Love Dawn xx
