Dare to be Sassy: A New Year

Happy New Year's Eve ya'll. This week's challenge is all about celebrating this new year: How do you celebrate?

I used the Kiss at midnight image as that is how we celebrate at our home: we kiss each other at our midnight. That means it might not be the real midnight as our little boys don't get to stay up so we make up our own time and celebrate. I like it because that means we don't have to stay up either as most nights I'm in bed before midnight (sad, I know). The colors I used are very non-traditional, but I was in the mood to be daring. I left off a sentiment b/c I thought that the image spoke of New Year's on its own.

Challenges use:
Sassy Studio Designs - how do you celebrate New Year's
Mojo Monday - sketch
Stampin' Sisters in Christ - New Years

Sassy Bunnies

I did the traditional tag with this fun SSD stocking image. Nothing too fancy with this. I used my copics to color it as well.

Then I changed up the image some and just used the bunny and had him peeking out from behind a blank c/s that can be used for a sentiment. I created some faux pale-blue ribbon using my white pen for the stiching, a piece of scrap transparency for the circle was stamped with snowflakes and then sponged in white stazon, and the snowflakes were done with a Martha Stewart punch. It's another card that I just haven't decided on a sentiment for though. Any suggestions would be great!

Challenges used:
Create 4 fun: Sketch
My Time to Craft Challenge: anything goes

Pink Presents Sparkle

I got lots of posts to create tonight (4 to be exact), so each one will be kept simple. Once the holidays are over with I'll get back to more details :)

For this card I used Sassy Studio Designs' presents. I thought they would be good for a Valentine's Day event. No sentiment is on this card as I just couldn't get my brain to work. After coloring the image with my copics I then sprayed it with some Baby's breathe shimmerz spray as well as the pink strip. Simple, yes, but I really do like it.

Challenges used:
Crafty Cardmakers - favs of 2009 (I discovered copics and shimmerz this year and have loved using them)
Sketch and Stash - sketch (modified a little)

Mo's White Angel

I got the email that said I was accepted into the grad program! Now it's 2-3 years before I will be a school librarian if all goes well. I am so excited and yet nervous at the same time. If anyone knows of someone that would be willing to pay for my schooling that would be great, lol.

I've been wanting to play along again with a Mo's Digital Pencil 2 challenge and just haven't had a chance until now. I'm not even sure if this one made it in time either, lol. The challenge was a white one where the only thing that could have color was the image. Well, I decided that I would apply it to the image too and so the only thing with much color is the little angel's skin and hair. I gave a little sunburst to him as well so he wasn't so flat. The whites were 'colored' with very light shades of blues from my copics. The big background is stamped with some clouds from Verve and the white stripes were embossed with my dots cuttlebug folder. The big cloud is a digi from In-style that I added my sentiment too before printing. I think this'll be a cute little New Years holiday package to use to ring in the new year for someone :)

Challenges:
Stamp Something: Holiday Somethings
Cupcake Craft: A time for a celebration
Creative Inspiration: anything but a card
Saturday Challenge: last min. gifts (I kinda went more with the package idea as I like to leave mine out for decor sometimes)
Charisma: anything BUT Christmas
Mo's DP2: all white
Paper Play: New beginnings (New Year)
Flutter by Wed: anything goes but must have wings
Crafty Creations: anything goes

Merry Christmas

I just wanted to wish all of ya'll a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I am still doing some last minute shopping (for the first time ever) and am hanging out with the family. That being said I just don't have much time to craft right now, so I think I'm going to take these last couple of weeks off. If I get anything done I'll share of course (and if I hear anything about my schooling) :)

You must match with your snowMAN

I love how a snowglobe can be simple so that the inside can shine. For this cute little Christmas/winter card I used SSD's Frosty andFiona and snowglobe template. I paper piece the bottom part to match with my image. I used a wood type stamp on the brown and just used my Blossom Spica pen to color the pink parts to give it a subtle shimmer. Using some snowflake stamps I decorated the 'glass' globe to resemable the snow coming down after one has been shaken. I found a great tutorial on-line (SCS I think) that showed how to do the snowcap to hide the ugly part of the card meeting the acetate. There are little mistakes that are glaring at me but my cousin who is more like a sister won't even notice. I haven't decided on the sentiment so I left that part blank (but I am thinking about clear embossing the words Brrr... on the 'wood' base.

Challenges (and there are lots again):
If the shoe fits scrap it: favorite coloring medium (I LOVE my copics)
Stamp Challenges: Holiday something
Hope Stamps Eternal: cupcake inspiration (the colors and the snowman were mine)
All that scraps: sparkle (The snow cap covered in stickles, the pink edges on the base as well as the image
Dare U 2 Digi: last min Christmas
Easy Craft Projects: inspired from a project listed on their blog (I used this one as I recycled a piece of shipping acetate and used it to create the glass globe on the snowglobe card)
Stamp Challenges: Holiday something
Practical Stampers: Holiday/Christmas
One Stop Craft Challege: Christmas card for someone you love
Saturday Spotlight: Favorite music style (I really love most music but right now it's the holiday kind)

It's a Grinch Kitty

I am hoping this week to hear about if I got into the graduate program at the college I applied for. I took the GRE last month and felt like a big dummy, but I think I did ok. I would really like to get in (although if I do then I need to start looking for a way to pay for it all).

I had so much fun with this image from The Character Cafe. It reminded me so much of the cute little dog in Dr. Suess's How the Grinch Stole Christmas (not the mention the Grinch himself). After coloring the image with my copics, I colored the red frames with my red Spica glitter to give it some of that winter sparkle (since I live in the south Faux Sparkle is the only kind we get). I've also seen so many animals trying to be reindeer around here too.

Again, I tried to use as many challenges as I could for this one. Hoping to pull off another one tomorrow.

The Character Cafe - freebie challenge
Kaboodle Doodles - Sparkling winter
Frosted Design - holiday theme
Dare U 2 Digi - red, green, plus a neutral
Charisma Cardz - red, green, white or sliver
Paper Play Challenge - movie/book inspiration (How the Grinch Stole Christmas)
Create 4 fun - easel card
Our Creative Corner - Holiday theme
Etsy Inspired - be inspired from HERE (I was inspired by all the green/red pieces she has and the kitties)
Sophisticate Challenges - Christmas theme
Rosie Dees Challenges - Rudolph's got a bright new bell (I have the little cat a shiny red nose to go with the antlers she is forced to wear)
Practical Scrappers - anything Christmas
Carkvarks - include a digi image
Moxie Fab World - include a creature
CPS - sketch

It's a Sassy Stocking Stuffer Release

If you have come from Margie's blog then you are in the right spot. However, if not then go see Lelia at the start of the Sassy Studio Design blog hop. Be sure you leave the Sassy ladies some love before you head on over to the SSD blog party to share a holiday family tradition to get a fun present from SSD. For us we are starting a new family as I have two sons under 4 years of age, so we are still carving out traditions. One tradition we are trying to start is the advent calender and letting A (my oldest) decorate his own little tree a little each day.

Lindsay has out done yourself yet again. This time she has created a SSD release full of the cutest $1 images. Those that saw the SSD's Sunday Tutorial got to see the cute shoes that come out for this release. Today I'm showing off this great stack of gifts from SSD. This would be great not only for Chirstmas time but birthdays as well. I colored the image in with my copics and then went of the blue with my Baby Blue Spica and the purple with my CE. I then gave a hint of Buttermilk Spica to the backlight I created. Lots of glitter was used for this card. I outlined the purple edges in Star Dust Stickles, used the Spica glitter pens, and used the sticky tape covered in glitter for a ribbon effect. I even painted the flourish in white paint and covered it in glitter. I've got many other samples with these great stocking stuffers in the works so you will be seeing them over the next week. Be sure to fill up your stocking over at SSD. Now head on over to Piali and see what goodies she has for you.

This card is for LOTS of challenges as I'm trying this week to see just how many challenges I can use for one card.
Stamptacular Sunday Challenge - Christmas theme w/o red or green
Diecut Dreams - glitter me silly
Die Cuts R Us - Naughty or Nice (I think of presents)
Stamp with Fun - theme: little presents

MyGrafico Challenge Day

Today's MyGrafico Challenge is my last one as a DT member. The experiance has been so much fun. Today's challenge has a little twist: create a NON-Christmas project using Red and Green. I decided on a tag since I've been needing some lately. I love how these tags can be used on gifts and then used in a scrapbook page. The image was colored in using my computer.

Be sure you leave a link to your creation so that you can be in for the prize of the wonderful set that this cut little sailboat and bear image came from.

Sassy Preview: Shoes

These are the notecards I created for the Sassy Studio Design Tutorial Sunday. Be sure you check out the SSD blog for the directions. I used three of the new images that will be released on December 15th. Be sure you join us for a blog hop on the 15th. What girl doesn't love shoes, right? I really do love making these notecards as they make the perfect quick gifts.

Sorry for the bad pictures, don't know what happened.

Extra Day of Unity and MyGrafico Challenge

I've been having some printer issues and wasn't able to create a sample for the MyGrafico Challenge blog this week. I was just now able to complete the challenge. The challenge was to make a recipe card but since I don't cook I don't really make those typed of cards, so what I did instead was make a 'Recipe for a Happy New Year' card that can be displayed as it's 8x8. I like the touch of flourish that is on this as it gave it just a little something extra (and is part of the Belli Blog challenge) and worked so well with the hearts. The hearts, tag outline, and circle label is from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff over at MyGrafico.

I also created an extra project for my week Growing in Unity. I used two stamps with this project: Create Yourself and Feel the Joy. I really like how this one turned out and can so see me using this for little gifts.

Growing in Unity - Day 5

I've got another card for ya'll using Unity. This post is going to be short though as I'm getting tired and need to clean up still before bed. I used another great word/quote stamp from Unity called Shine. I used my markers to color this in so the clouds, sun, and words could be different colors. I then took the colors of the image and used them for the colors of the card. I put sitcky tape down where the shimmery see-thru white ribbon would go and covered it in glitter so that it sparkled even more. I used a cloud stamp I have for the clouds popping off the bottom corner of the quote too. Be sure you come back tomorrow for the bonus project I am working on too for an extra chance at winning the Unity stamp Vicious Circle. I used the sketch from CPS.

Growing in Unity - Day 4

Please come back tomorrow for new project using Unity. I had a really bad day yesterday and wasn't able to finish my projects for ya'll. Because of that I will add an extra day to my Growing in Unity week, so be sure you check in not only tomorrow but Saturday as well.

That being said, I bringing back an oldie but a goodie card. I really love sayings and this is a great one. I had done this one for several challenges at the time and the person I sent it too loved it (purple is her favorite color). Hope ya'll enjoy it too.

Be sure to leave some love all week long (I'll even count Saturday) for a chance to win Unity's Vicious Circle.

Growing in Unity - Day 3

Can you believe that it's Wednesday already! Time for my third day of showing off some Unity stamps. For this card I used two Unity sets that I have already shown ya'll: Vicious Circle and Jolly Little Winter. I love how they can be so versitile. I stamped the VC on some more transparency (don't you just love the look and frame it creates) only this time I stamped it in white stazon and then covered it in glitter to bring some bling to my card. This time I used the fireplace from the JLW set and colored it in with my copics. I am really proud of the wood look the floor and mantal took on. The fire was a new technique for me too as I mixed different colors together to make the fire glow. Once it was colored I punched it out with a nesstie (and it just happened to be the perfect fit for the VC frame) and glued it behind the frame. I then glittered the border of the card base as well as the frame for the sentiment (which came from the song "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow"). I also promised ya'll yesterday that I would let you know what Unity stamp I'm going to give away this week: Vicious Circle. My goal is to show ya'll two more ways to use this great Unity stamp later this week.

Challenges used:
Die Cuts R Us - project with a holiday feel
Cupcake Craft Challenges - sing a Christmas Carol
Pile It On - Glitter
All That Scraps - anything Christmas
Paper Cutz Challege - use a digital or rubber stamp image
