This is a long post with two projects to show
Click on the banner above to take you to your invitation to Sassy Studio Designs' Aug 1 release party. We have challenges lined up and Lindsey has been kind enough to supply some FREEBIE images as party favors (once the party is over, like Cinderella's pumpkin) the favors will go into the shop. You won't want to miss this event.
Here is my last preview before the release using True Love's Kiss. DH and I went to Disney World for our honeymoon and while there had a photo shoot. One of the locals at Cinderella's castle (remember that Cinderella is one of my favorite movies) over by her wishing well (que song...'A dream is a wish your heart makes...'). The photographer took this picture of us kissing at the well when we didn't know. I have been wanting to scrap it for going on 8 years and have now found the perfect image to go with it: Cinderella kissing her Prince and me kissing mine.
This image would also work well with wedding cards and layouts. I was hoping to get you a sample of a completed page, but I am still working on my page from my wedding using this image. The image is colored to match me and DH.
Now for my next project.
I am part of a blogging group called Digi Chicks and for our second challenge we were to create a Christmas card using a digital image. I choose an image from Dustin Pike and used a sketch from SCS. I turned the image into a tag for the focal point on the card and even typed the saying. I really like how this turned out. Since it was a (teady) bear I am also using this for the Copic Buzz Challenge #7 (animals). I added Shimmerz Pixie Dust to add the glitter to the candy cane for a little extra punch.

Arrggg Matey
Click on the bannar above to see your invitation to SSD's August 1st Masquerade Release party where there will be some freebies and challenges.
Here is the other card I made using the AWESOME Pirate Princess Lindsey made as part of Sassy Studio Designs' Augst 1st Fairytale release.
I colored her the same as yesterday's card because I wanted to show how different the cards can be. Because she is a digi stamp, I am able to resize her to fit whatever size I want. How cool is that! I chose to make her BE the entire card: no layers. I used GK's heaviest cardstock so that the copics didn't blead through. Isn't that the coolest thing! I also used one of the sentiments that Lindsey made to go with the images. I just love the font she used for the pirate sayings. I made some subtle changes (and kept some of the extras) with her too: covered he boots in crystal effects to give them a shine and the sword and the gold band on the gun, painted Pixie Dust Shimmerz on her white shirt, red flock for the feather, gold sparkle on the handle of the sword and the gold coins. This card could be framed or even become part of a scrapbook page.
Don't forget about the SSD challenge going on this week for a chance to win four images of your choice from the August 1st release. Lindsey has even offered a FREE digi image to use for the challenge.

Sassy Pirate
DH and I LOVE to go to the Texas Renn Fest every year and as soon as I saw this image I went right to those memories and now can't wait for fall when we get to go this year. I will be using her for sure on some scrapbook pages for that festival! You will be able to get her on August 1st when all of the Fairytale line will be released at Sassy Studio Designs (SSD).
For now though I decided to create cards with her. Today you get to see the first one. When I think pirates I think treasure maps, and their treasures of course ;) I googled images of maps, found one I liked and saved it. Then I resized it in Photoshop before I printed it out. Once printed I distressed it for age (the image I just sponged some distress ink to age it). and layered it over some vanilla cardstock that I also distressed. I stamped and embossed the Print Pattern stamp from Stampin' Up for give the background some life, but not take away from the Pirate Princess image. I had a lot of fun coloring her. I added flock to her feather, shimmerz to her vest and red stipe on her pants, crystal effects to her sword and boot buckles and the chest, liquid pearl to the 'pearls' and gold stickles to the handle on the sword and the coins.
Remeber there is a challenge going on over at SSD this week (ends July 31st) and the wonderful Lindsey is even offering a FREE digi image to help with the challenge.

Beauty's Kiss
Click on the banner for your inviation to SSD's Masquerade Ball on August 1, 2009. It'll be a day of fun.
As promised, here is another Disney tribute Princess card using the True Love's Kiss that will be released on August 1st. This one was a take on Beauty and the Beast after the Beast was turned back into a Prince. Again, I just 'had' to do some homework and watch the movie so that I knew what the Prince looked like (hee hee hee). Again, I kept it simple so the image could stand out. I love how digi images can be resized to fit whatever size card or project you want to do. Again, I used some Shimmerz (sunny) to give some sparkle to the bustle, sprayed Baby's Breathe Shimmerz Spray to the yellow cardstock, and used my shimmery white cardstock to give our princess some bling. I just love the romantic feel of this image.
I am working on my Cinderella project and hope to let ya'll see that one soon. Don't forget about the SSD's challenge #2 for a chance to win four images of your choice from the August 1st relase. If you go over there now, Lidnsey has even offered up a FREE image so that you can use that to play along (how great is that).
Also, make sure you join us on the big release day for a party :)

True Loves Kiss
I have another FABULOUS digi image by the talented Lindsey over at Sassy Studio Designs. This one is called True Love's Kiss and will be released on August 1st. As soon as I saw this image I imediantly thought of all of those princess Disney movies. Two of my most favorite fariytales are Cinderella (I'm still working on the project for that one) and Sleeping Beauty. I decided to make some cards as a tribute to the Disney princesses. The first one up is my own take on Sleeping Beauty. I used the pink dress as inspiration and for the prince I just 'had' to watch the movie (hee hee hee) to figure out how to color the prince. As you can see, I really need to work with my blues :( Overall, I am really happy with this card. I kept it fairly simple and used some ruffled ribbons to help give it a princess-y feel. I also used my shimmery white cardstock for the base and sprayed Baby's Breathe Shimmerz Spray over the pink cardstock. Also, what is a princess without a little bling? I painted some pink Shimmerz over the bustle of her dress. Lindsey will also have a sentiment bundle that will go with these wonderful sets as well. I used the 'Enchanting' one with this card - perfect for a wedding.
Be sure you check out Sassy Studio Designs' blog for their second challenge for a chance to win four images from the Fairytale August 1st release. If you go now, then you can pick up a FREEBIE (who doesn't love FREE).
We are also planning a party that day that you won't want to miss.

Oriental Princess Preview
For my preview creation from Sassy Studio Designs, I used the Oriental Princess again. I love the clean lines of the Aisian culture and wanted to mimic them again with this card. I love how her dress pops against the black and soft green. I also created this card with my Aunt in mind and really hope she like it. This image will be released on August 1st with the rest of the Fairytale creations Lindsey create. There is also a big party being planned that you won't want to miss.
Be sure you check out the NEW challenge over at Sassy Studio Designs! Hope you will play along! If you do then you could win a FABULOUS prize!! How can you resist? The challenge is to create a fairytale like, or whimsical like, creation.......using a Sassy Studios image! If you don't have an image just check out the end of the challenge post because Lindsay has one for you:
Head on over to the SASSY STUDIO DESIGNS blog, to check out the details! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Guest Designer News
I have been holding this in for several days and now is the day I get to let it out. I am a Guest Designer (GD) for Sassy Studio Designs for the month of August! I love her digital stamps and have been making several cards (and hopefully some scrapbook pages) all week with some of her NEW August 1st release stamps. Think Fairytales and you'll be right there with us. Be sure to check out the blog for the challenge that is leading up to the big release. In fact, you will even be able to pick up this FREE digi stamp too:
For my first preview I am using the new Princess of the Orient. I am sorry for the bad photo as I am not sure what happened. I wanted to keep her and the card simple as is the custom of the culture. The symbol is (or at least should be) Peace. The copics I used are below and you can click on any image to make them bigger.
And now for a movie review :) The DH and I went to go see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince today. Our first movie in I don't know how long. It was really good. Little things were changed and/or left out but not anything too big that made me like the movie any less. As soon as it was over I asked when the last one (and they turned that into a two-parter) will come out. I so don't want to wait!

Ouchie Dragon
Don't you just love this little dragon? I got it from Dustin Pike's Digital Images after I had learned about him. The images are so much fun. The dragon was so much fun to color and my son wants me to color him one now (I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that he LOVES bandaids himself right now). I'm thinking about making a little coloring book for him full of Dustin's images and a scrapbook page with that particular image of my little guy. In fact, if you haven't checked out his blog I highly recommend it as every Wednesday he gives away a FREE digi stamp (who doesn't like FREE right).
I just joined a great group of gals from SCS called The Digi Chicks (not to be confused with the store) and we challenge each other in different ways using digi stamps instead of our rubber ones. Four our first challenge we were to use black, white, and green. I know you can't tell from the picture, but the rhinestones are a light green that match the dragon and I used my Buttermilk Spica on the horns and spikes to add a little sparkle. Don't forget that you can click on each picture to see a bigger version.
Oh, and I have even more news....

Copic Buzz Challenge #5
I just got Stampingbella's Predictabella in the mail the other day and thought it would be great for the Copic Buzz Challenge - coloring transparent things with our Copics. Barbara sent me stamped images of this really cute fairy from Stamping Bella and I got her the same day. I chose to get the new rubber dirty first, but I am already planning what to do with the images. Thank you Barbara for sending them to me to insure that I was able to play :)
I kept the card simple as I wanted the image to stand out. I used V000 to color the crystal ball and then pushed the color out to the edge with my Colorless Blender. A fun technique, but one I need more practice with. After I colored the rest of the image I then went back over the ball and its stand with Crystal Effects to give it the shiny look of a real crystal ball. I also added some glitter to her top and head piece as well as the table to help jazz it up some. Below are the colors I used.
And now for a tease: I have some exciting news to share with ya'll very soon...

Bridal Shower Invite Sample
I was asked to create a bridal shower invite for a family friend. This is the first time I've been asked to do something like this, so needless to say I was/am nervous. I had my mom come over and help me with the design. This is a mock-up of the invite I did. The dress and the base cardstock will be a reddish brown now (the color of the bridesmaid dresses) and the silver cord may be gold or at least gold ribbon there too. The dress was the FREE digi stamp I got from the SSD Blog Cruz (you only have until the 20th to pick this up before it goes into her store), and I thought it would be cute for the invite.
You can't have a bridal anything without some bling, so I painted on some Pixie Dust Blinz on the bodice and along the bottom, add the rhinestones, and the glitter edges along the navy blue strip of cardstock on the bottom. I also used an embossing folder from Cuttlebug as a background as I didn't have any patterned paper that I felt would work.

Sassy Studio Designs FIRST Challenge
Sassy Studo Designs (SSD) is having their first challenge and since I just LOVE her digi stamps I just had to join in on the fun. For this first challenge I had to make this first card Sassy by using some bling. I bought Sassy Cassie the other day (I'm sure you can guess the reason, hee hee hee) and just knew I had to use her for this challenge. However, I colored two images of her and just couldn't decide between them so I just decided to post both of them. Be sure to click ont each picture to see them larger.
I had so much fun coloring this one. I also had to make her a red-head since I am (thought it would be cute if we shared a name and hair color). Ireally wanted the hair and lips to stand out and I wanted to take another stab at coloring something white. Because I colored her hat and pants grey I chose to give her white top a natural feel so I used my lightest grey Copic. I really like how she came out. The paper I used on the card is flocked, so I of course had to add some flock to her hat and then to play up the 'sassy-ness' I added glitter to the hat band and her top.
For the second image I chose the colors brown and blue because I've been reaching for thnose colors a lot lately (I'm sure it has NOTHING to do with the fact that I have two small BOYS...hee hee hee). After I colored her, I covered the brown part of her hat with brown flock and the hat band and her top with glitter to help her become a little more 'sassy'. I even used my Baby's Breath Shimmerz Spray on the blue cardstock to dress it up more.
Be sure to check out the SSD Blog Cruz for this FREE digi image. Check back to my blog on the 17th to see what I did with this wonderful dress.
