A mini hello with freebies!

mini hello
Hey!

Happy Saturday! It's a super-duper happy Saturday over at Uniko Studio as it's a Super Free Saturday! This means that there's a sweet new digital set complete with images and pretty patterned paper up for grabs to play with for free!

The set that's free today (and always will be free) contains fabulous 'hello' sentiments in different fonts, two great speech bubbles and some extremely pretty flower-patterned paper. Now this is all digital of course which gives you extra flexibility when it comes to designing. I opted to design this sweet mini 3x3 card.

Now this free digital set is perfect for playing along with the current Uniko Studio Challenge as the theme is 'Hello'. You've still got until August 14th to play along with us!

Now I know that there are times when time is limited with crafting, and that there's a few of us out there who are digi-phobes when it comes to digital crafting (that used to be me!). So to help, I've created some templates of this mini card using the different fonts. One file contains just the card fronts, and the others are all ready to be printed directly onto a sheet of card and folded. Simply download, print, fold, and voila! A sweet little hello card of your own that I certainly wouldn't object to you entering into the current Uniko Studio Challenge *wink*.

You can download the templates here.

Thanks so much for stopping by today - I hope you have a great Saturday and a fabulous weekend!

A sentiment designed for me!

If you're looking for my CASE Study card, please scroll down - thanks! :)

HEY!
Hey!

Today marks the day of a fabulous new challenge, Uniko Studio styleeee!

Yup, Uniko Studio now has a monthly challenge starting on the 18th of every month. This gives you the chance to strut your stuff with your Uniko Studio goodies and be in with the chance of winning some too! :)

The theme of this month's challenge is 'Hello' and we're celebrating the new challenge with a little blog hop. You should have arrived here from Amber so if you haven't, you'll want to start at the Uniko Studio blog.

Anyways, back to the theme of 'Hello'. Seeing as I kick off every blog post with the greeting, 'Hey!' it seemed so fitting to use that same sentiment for this super simple, super quick card. As soon as I got my inky mitts on this set, I squealed with delight when I saw that sentiment in that gorgeous font - so me! :D

Now in collaboration with the theme, the Uniko Studio DT are not only saying, "Hello!" with their creations, we're sharing a random fact with you about ourselves too (feel free to share a random fact about yourself too if you play along with us!). Now it took me longer to think of a random fact to share with you than it did to create the card - ha!

So. Drum roll, please. Random fact about yours truly: we had a pet tarantula when I was growing up. Not your typical pet around these parts, and definitely random! I know, you were probably expecting something way more exciting than this but trust me, there are some things you just don't wanna know about me (mwahahahah!) *wink*

tips and tricks
  •  It's much easier to stamp a sentiment first, and then die cut the shape around it rather than the other way around.
  • Heat embossing and impressing patterns into cardstock is a great way to add texture to an extremely simple design.
Hey Close

Here's hoping you can check out what the rest of the Uniko Studio DT whipped up for this challenge - go on, you'll be left inspired and itching to ink along I'm sure! The challenge ends on August 14th, a randomly selected peep will win some Uniko Studio goodies and a top 3 will be selected too. :)

My kinda homework....

If you're looking for my CASE Study card this week, please scroll down - thanks! :)

Thank You
Hey!

Today marks the day to have a hop Uniko Studio Stylee as well as give a big "Happy Birthday!" shout out to my fellow Uniko Studio DT peep, Amber. Happy birthday, Amber - I hope you're having a fabulous day!

The Uniko Studio blog hop features creations by the DT using the set Label Love: Thank You. It's really such a great, versatile set and I couldn't resist pairing it the set Accent Essentials: Arrows to create this fun sun/ray-like card. You should have come here from the Uniko Studio blog if you're hopping - if not you'll want to start there first. :)

The card/colour combo is also the result of my Summer Card Camp 2 homework for week one. I'm loving this class so much (it's not too late to enrol BTW - it only started this week!)

Thank You close UP

tips and tricks
  • Play around with the smaller stamps in your sets and see what patterns you can create. I created this circular border by stamping the tiny flourish border stamp from Label Love: Thank You four times, rotating it 90 degrees with each impression.
  • When it comes to stamping the background on the card, I first stamped a cross and then proceeded to stamp in the gaps that were left in between the rays. It made it much easier to eyeball and keep the pattern pretty even.
Now I'm gonna keep it short and sweet. I'm still tackling my mega list of things I need to get done, there's hopping to be done too and the chance to win the featured set, Label Love: Thank You! So you're next stop is the birthday gal herself, Amber!

Happy hopping and happy Friday-Eve! :D

My kinda knitting...

 in your arms
Hey!

Happy Friday! :)

I'm popping in today as part of a fabulous blog hop to celebrate the launch of a new stamping company, Paperbabe Stamps! Kim Costello is the talented lady behind the company and she was sweet enough to ask me to be a part of her special blog hop to celebrate. How could I refuse?

I used the set 'Design A Knit' which features lots of knitted background stamps - I think some are knit one, pearl one but I'm no expert! For this card and I couldn't resist using one of the patterned strips on a sweet monkey shape Kim had kindly cut and sent to me along with the stamp set. This is definitely my kind of knitting (aka stamping!)

Three stamp sets are now available in the store to purchase:
  • Tree Hugs
  • DesignA Knit
  • Ribbed Background
And there's also the long awaited "MayLeeDee" available as digital download right now too!

Be sure to stop by the Paperbabe blog if you've just stumbled upon this blog hop and leave comments for chances to win one of the following prizes:
  • The Tree Hugs Set
  • The Design a Knit Set
  • The Ribbed Background set
  • The MayLeeDee digi image
  • And for one lucky winner: The ENTIRE July release!
So are you ready to get hopping? I hope so!

Winners will be announced on the Paperbabe blog on July 12th and you've got until the 10th to hop along and be in with a chance of winning a prize!

Happy hopping and have a fabulous weekend!

10 mins = 1 card and a whole lotta mess!

thank you stars

Hey!

I may not be American, but I'm joining in the Pre-Independence Day celebrations with a 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge! Clearly Besotted Stamps are sponsoring the challenge and as part of the CBS DT I'm joining in the fun too.

The theme for the challenge is 'Stars' and seeing as it's July 4th soon, I figured that I'd make my card fit in with the Indpendence Day theme with some stars and stripes. Now if you've never done a 10 minute craft dash before let me assure you that it's fun but amazingly chaotic. You'll surprise yourself at how much you can create in 10 mintues and the mess you can create in that short space of time too! Ha!

I had no real idea of what I was going to create as I set the timer on my phone. The only things I had prepared was I had my set ready, some inks and card and decided upon a mini 3x3 card. It's not cheating, but a 3x3 card just seems easier to whip up in a time restricted challenge for some reason. :)

I was cutting it pretty fine with this challenge, finishing in 9 mins 53 seconds. Next time I may plan a little more in my head beforehand!

Be sure to play along if you can; it's not only fun, but this challenge has the added bonus of being sponsored by Clearly Besotted Stamps so one lucky participant will win 2CBS stamp sets of their choice! :)
