Season Comes to an end
The Morgan Trojans ended the Cowboys season with a 3-1 victory in a Region 11 play-in game held at Juan Diego HS.
Grantsville struck first in the top of the 1st using singles by Andrew Nelson & Connor Turner and a key 2-out single by Kelby Landon to provide Grantsville with their lone run of the game. Morgan would answer right back in their half of the first with 4 consecutive hits to put up 2 runs which would be all they would need. They did tack on an insurance run in the 5th on a single, a Cowboy error, and a sacrifice fly to provide the final margin.
Nelson got the start for the Cowboys and pitched well, but the lack of run support spelled the end for the Cowboys.
The loss caps the careers of seniors, Andrew Nelson, Lincoln Kelley, Bridger Boman, Kelbey Fisher, & Jason Arbon.
We would like to congratulate Kelbey Fisher, he has been named Academic All-State for Class 3A baseball. It's quite an accomplishment and the first baseball player to receive the award since Ben Nelson back in 2003. He will be recognized at the state championship games on Saturday May 21 at Dixie State College.

Yes, the Cowboys played baseball today.
Believe it or not, we played baseball in Grantsville today. The coaches worked hard to get the field playable. Although it was a little chilly, it was a great day for baseball.
If there could be any better news than being able to play, it is that the Cowboys played well and pulled out a 3-1 win over the Park City Miners. All of the scoring was done in the 3rd inning. The Miners got on the board in the top half of the inning using a double, stolen base, and a single to take a 1-0 lead. Grantsville answered back in the bottom half of the inning with 3 runs. Bridger Boman led off the inning reaching base on a hit by pitch. Drew Sutton laid down a well placed bunt forcing a bad throw to get the first 2 runners on in the inning. Lincoln Kelley stepped in the box and ripped a 2-run double. He moved to 3rd as the throw to the plate got away from the Miners. Kelby Landon then hit a long fly ball to score Kelley from 3rd giving Grantsville all the runs they would need.
Grantsville used 4 pitchers on the day. Kelbey Fisher got the start on the bump and went 2 strong innings. Dalen Erickson came in to throw the 3rd & 4th and was credited with the win. Skyler Cloward threw 1 inning and Andrew Nelson finished off the last 2 innings for Grantsville earning the save.
The Freshman games were postponed. Park City will return tomorrow (Wednesday March 9) and play the young Cowboys in one 7 inning game at Deseret Peak. The game is set to begin at 3:30.
The Cowboys will next be in action at the Donnie Pymm Pizza Hut Classic in St George with 2 games on Friday & 2 more on Saturday.
