Friends are Blessings to count twice ! - Saturday creations

Having art friends to create with is one of my life's
Blessings --among all those God has given me !!
I have two long time friends that each special
holiday we try to get together and create . There
have been many great and funfilled days of creating
with Jessie and Margaret - Valentine delights ,
spring bunnies , and our favorite time to create ,Christmas .
We can hardly decide whether angels , snowmen or santas
are our favorite theme , so usually we do all three .
This year for them I introduced the Vintage sweet
girl above . We also made the snowcone jingle pictured in an
earlier post , and a collage using the polish idea see earlier post --
I so love vintage -and especially pics of
victorian children , fairies and children in angel wings -
A favorite quote I read a few years ago says
" I love children , and it is no small surprise that those
so fresh from God love us "
My two grandchildren are a delight to our whole family -
but growing up too fast - 9 and 11 -
I spent many years before my church's latest serving
opportunity working in children's ministry -They still
delight me , I especially love the youngest ones --Now on Sundays
working in our church Volunteer
Connections Ministry , I get to connect with many ministries in
our large church , How sweet it is now for me to visit our children's ministry
and see my sweet daughter( in -law -that word bothers me )Holley and son Jonathan
onstage , teaching the Bible story through skits and music .
I am a proud MOM -- sorry got caught up with the delight in them
and their serving .So yesterday was the day .
What a day of fun ,creations ,and food -yum
Margaret sews and quilts beautiful things
and Ms Jessie is the scrap Queen . We completed
four or five different creations . I really want to find the new Stickles
platinum , that gives the vintage look -tarnished -, but will have to
order it , no one carries it here - to take it to a new level .
I am crazy about the old silver tarnished look -and silver
german glass glitter .

THis is a pic (bad at that ) of my
small trimline tree that I put up quickly
in the wrong place ?? to hold all the
12 days of Christmas ornaments I made -in Lisa's
It's in the Details online class - It was a lot of fun ,
I have one more item to make -the last one
and it includes a clay snowman . I ha d to also catch up on
a few simple swaps and work on my Snowman swap due out
this next week - Then MS TERESA's 12 days E - zine starts
this next week also ,
I still am working on the wonderful ideas in one of the tutorials that
ms Dawn of "The Feathered Nest " has for sale in her online
shop . She is in Somerset Mags now -- Tell her Kathy - ga
sent you !!!!You have to see them ,beautiful , as is everything she creates .
I printed these lovely tags -- and tea dyed them -
I do have a favorite Old world sepia look Santa
image I want to use with them (i am a tagaholic -)
or a new vintage santa stamp , I will try also ,
probably both .

Can't wait to see what you are creating this week !!
Have a great one -- Kathy

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Hope you all (ya'll -since I am a
G.R.I.T.S -girl - girl raised in the
South lol ) have a Blessed Thanksgiving -
Many of you probably have decorated by now --
I can't decorate ,because I am so happily busy creating
It is one of my favorite times to make "ART "
guess it is because I can add so much bling
and glitter and my fav --german glass glitter -
here are a couple of things i made -- I do love the
silver and light blue combination this year ,so vintage
looking . I love making ATC's -- quick -but still
gotta pile on the elements .
The format of the ornaments or hangers -
(about 5x7) idea was from Teresa -zine
last year --we did bingo cards -- wow
love the Christmas ones I saw online -
Jenni - Bowlin I think -- I have a freebie -
red one -- may use that for an idea .
Not sure if you can see if you click
on the santa hanger - For several years
i have used the dimensional glue
to give that bubble look to letters
and a couple of yrs ago they even
came out with sepia -- if you are careful
you can control the applicator fairly well -
You could always mix a slight bit of paint into the clear
but , some things are easier - I really feel
so fortunate that almost all my paper
elements , i have (except great papers )
those use too much ink -) altho
in scrapbook files i do have a few fav papers
i will print -in a pinch - and I print
on my HP all in one printer --love it
and the quality is good -- Just need to
buy photoshop so I can tweak pics -
a little more --Can do png files etc to
make thing in my scrap program -
I always make my banners --
Well . have a great day -- don't
get "OVERSTUFFED " --
Need to finish up a dish , we are eating late
with grown and married children - they all
have another family group --some years
we have even had it together -- but as we have
grown , would need a banquet hall lol .
Have a BLESSED DAY !!! ---- Kathy

Glorious Blessings from GOD

THis is the day the Lord has made _I WILL
REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT !!! What a blessing
today was in my life --God constantly amazes me
with the plans for those who love and follow him .
This was a Day of renewal for someone
very special to me --I can never THANK GOD
enough for his LOVE and BLESSINGS . When we seek
him with all our hearts
He will be found - What a wonderful promise, and one
I have seen fulfilled over and over .
-------------------
Well ,as you can see I am still in the zone -
creating zone that is -- I am doing an online class
and YAHOO !! saw on Teresa Mcfayden's site
she is going to do another 12 Days of Christmas zine -
I have participated in all of them . and learned some
great techniques and made some adorable goodies --
see the angel jar , a few posts back . YA know i have tag love
so had to post this , altho simple .

I do love this felt envelope idea - That and the jingle
cone are my faves(see a couple of posts below -and we will be finished this
week . Gotta get crackin -cause gotta
post some of the beautiful creations from the
downloadable craft ideas you can buy from
DAWN Edmonson -- (she is in Somerset Studio mags
now , ya know ) so talented -aka http://thefeatherednest.blogspot.com
So check her out --she is lovely and talented
and the sweetest ever .

This is another cone varation idea -not new , but still
love making them , and the little matchbox is a fun
idea for a tree or a small treat or promise of a special gift

Ok , been a long day today -- yes only 7 here
but I think after a full Sunday at church , it is jammie
and down lap throw time --love my toasty
cover for snoozing and tv -not watching -
hmm as I get older -just ask me --
can tell many story beginnings and endings -
just missing the middle lol ( ZZZZZ's ) OOPS
DID I Mention __24 Begins tonight - gotta see JAck --love that
show ,what a long wait lol .
Well, guess I was less creative on the backdrop to my pictures
, what was I thinking lol ???
Really needing to do a day trip near the one of the malls about 1 1/2 hour drive
through some of the worst traffic anywhere in GA -warning !!! don't go on a weekend . But Archivers
is calling me - although as I started Christmas Creating and looking for
my stash - remember when I was organizing my studio - well
the key is to remember where you put things --HINT @ make labels
lol -- So all the Christmas stash I found from last Christmas
after Christmas sales was uh Amazing --all those little baubles and bits ,
like the finishing touches on creations -- I was happily surprised ,
. didn't remember most of them -so I went shopping in my own
studio . Have a great evening !!!
Blessings --Kathy

This little doll was sent by my sweet swap partner Mary

She generously sent some cute christmas towels
and cute graphics , an atc -and the yummiest
sounding recipe for pumpkin cookies . She is unable to post pictures
herself and asked me to post both .

Thanksgiving paperdoll swap --hosted by Hop Hop Jingle Boo

THis is the paperdoll ,I made for my swap partner
in The Thanksgiving paperdoll swap hosted by Debra Schoch
oh so talented mache ' artist . This was a hard project for me ,
as I have only made one other paper doll and that was an angel .
When i found this music , I knew it had to be the backdrop for my paperdoll
- The paperdoll is freestanding -and I used the elements of turkey and
Thanksgiving form one of the postcards -debra gave on her blog .
I sent along a few goodies also -- mostly Christmas - and a few
graphics and items to craft with . next I will post my doll for my partner.

Vintage and cute- Christmas - MINI - Tutorial -PLUS WAX on WAX off

EXplanation -- THis is the candle cover I created a year ago
*using the process below - realized I had saved it
blogger won't let me move the pic to the last -sorry - this one is
paper layered but with out the wax - I had not thought of that
when this was created - we were supposed to do this process
on the glass but it was a Yankee candle so I did it on cardstock
-and tied it in the back -so I can change it out .

For you that read my blog -you know I

love vintage -and cute - I have been stamping for several years

and have (yikes ! several hundred - double yikes ! )

don't want to even know -- is there a stamp

recovery place --don't need any really -- Last night a blog

friend commented about new stamps -now I am salivating to buy those .The

gorgeous vintage -old world ones they have been making

the last few years ,makes me buy again plus

the storage -- while the clear ones are cheaper -

and I buy em ' -plus stores easier -I love the feel of wood ,

after all my husband is a builder and a wood turning genius ,

creates great things --will take pics and post soon -so

wood is important to him and me - he buys exotic woods

so lovely -- OK off my subject here -when I show his creations

you will know why -He was my wood cutter for yrs when i made

wooden ornaments for my art business - such a sweetie

and guess what my wood was free - scraps !

*** "TUTORIAL " plus kathy 's magic ingredient LOL "***

( mat board , papers , scruffy brush , decoupage glue , paint 3 colors -)

Brown shoe polish creme -IN A ROUND CAN (KATHY"S MAGIC )-- picture -

* cute stuff to add -

The tag at the top is large maybe 7 in long --cut from

mat board - use a base color I like cream , you can even paint cardboard

recycle all you can _going green here and didn't even know it .

. Then a process -Teresa Mc Fayden taught

in one of her online Bella classes (taken them all sorry can't

remember which- you choose papers that coordinate

I used 3 --(remember for collage use wrapping paper -

tissue, _ scrap-paper etc .( OF COURSE

PLACEMENT OF YOUR MAIN PIECE NEEDS TO BE DECIDED FIRST )

- I tear the papers irregularly and in various shapes -

and glue about the tag - balance it out all over tag -

not real exact- sort of in a mosiac tile style - Leave space in

between each - ( THIS IS IMPORTANT _ also * coat _LIGHTLY -over the papers with

the decoupage glue --***LET DRY !!!!***

Then choose several paint colors to

coordinate with your graphic- mine were (red -Careful on this intense color -and green )

(plus for my taste always cream to finish ) Then dab it between the papers

with an old squishy brush -*** (DO !! cover on the edges of the paper )

( the paint should be -drybrushed -pounce it on a paper towel before applying

, you are not trying tocover all - )

*** NOTE : remember to leave the elements -you want to show

uncovered ) If you click on my pic , you can see -

the dates and words - (MAYBE lol ) If paint gets on something you

don't want it to -lightly rub ( don't ask how I know this LOL) you

can even dampen paper towel -slightly -REmember this is not an exact

-- It will all come together . WAIT for drying - will be quick if drybrushed -

I add large embellishments now -- the next process makes it waxy and a little harder to adhere -

** LAST STEP - TO ANTIQUE IT KATHY"S MAGIC INGREDIENT

use* small amount * - barely any

-goes a long way -of shoe

cream on a paper towel -- go over everything -using a

clean paper towel to wipe off where you want less --

It is a matter of taste as to darkness you want some darkness to adhere where they meet -- Then very lightly wipe

over all - no scrubbing --and the wax will shine --

It has the appearance of many layers of papers -

Then add cute stuff --- OK , If you need more info

or this was not plain - make a comment and I will answer --

OK before I forget -- here is the cute part -- My fav in this trio is

christmas word stamp = I always use watercolor pencils

to color in my stamped items -- that is another tutorial - lol

i found a large stamp shop , while doing a day

adventure out of Charleston . S. C. -to Beaufort-(beautiful town )

found it by chance -- well we love Charleston - so I have a frequent buyer card lol . )

enough said . They had many different stamps i had never seen before -and

lots of ideas --OK need to do something creative -- or maybe clean ??

the studio -- will be out of town tomorrow - so will answer when I get back

Blessings and Happy Creating -- Kathy

Christmas - Thanksgiving and Halloween and She might SEW - YIKES !

I wanted to do a quick post today - Hope you are all well
Really cold here today after 70 + degrees the
last few weeks . I have been busy creating
for a snowman swap, a Thanksgiving
paper doll swap hosted by ms HOP HOP JINGLE BOO
herself -Debra Schoch- Taking an online 12 days Christmas class
and looking at some long overdue
remaining Halloween needing to be put away off my
studio shelves -- The little pocket card -(ya know I love
children pics ) is my country version,of an online
class ornie . Making an atc swap with an online friend
and I am running behind -- I don't know about you
but part of the pleasure in creating is making the
(stuff ) to go on my creations -- Of course a lot of
bling is store bought , and gotta have bells -all colors and sizes lol .
Almost all my graphics are printed from my computer
so always resizing for different projects and typing ,printing new sayings
I also love to stamp ! and punches love em !!

These punched tags will go on something ?
and all about tags , I love little atc's -- Ok off to
post office , Hope to post more of my creations --
soon , made a few , but some have to be kept secret for now
SHHHH!--
CALLING FOR THE QUESTION ????
Has anyone rusted safety pins or metal stars or jingle bells
I looked online -haven't tried the salt and vinegar -or bleach one yet
yikes -- smelly concoctions !! Let me know !
NOW! last one ,hought i said a short post -
HA! HA! I bought an online sewing pattern ,
scary -it is hand sewing -I think I can lol --
ya know I sew on a button badly lol -- Have a machine
and love the look of the sewn tags -pockets etc -
made some curtains and pillows yrs ago -
but can we say trauma -brought on by a high
school se win g project we then wore to school -
oh the slinking about the halls lol - It was spring
so no big sweaters to cover the ugly blouse
with rounded collar -yikes -- My Mom sewed buttons and
hems -- and I learned to hem -- being vertically
challenged - 5 ft , - i had to hem all my things -
And then wonder of wonders - the petite shop came into being
OH Happy DAy -- called the 5 - 7 and 9 shop - a little pricey .
Well we will see - it is supposed to look like a snowman
when I finish -- does red look good on a white snowman ??

Continue to pray and send wishes to KArin - of Creativ e Chaos .
She had breast surgery , but posted on her blog !!
Blessings to you ! Kathy - ga

Christmas is a coming - la la la la getting fat !

Seems like I have finally been bitten by the creative
art fairy -- So glad she finally showed up . I have so many ideas --
wow takes me so long to
choose each element --you know--"audition them "
sometimes(well usually ) my studio looks like a
storm hit ! lol -By the time I have gotten it
decided -piles of things litter my table (i
confess, some I forgot I bought -especially on clearance last
Christmas ) I do love a bargain --if something is cute and
a bargain -well a girl just has to buy it -Right !!)
Well the Ms Claus is one of my new favorites , at least for today
I added a little Bow to her neck in my scrap program .
I think she was shared by sweet Dawn - "The Feathered Nest "
she has wonderful tutorials on her blogs --too wonderful ,
just like her . Her Christmas one is so lovely .
Some graphics I have in collections -- but Kris Hurst ,of
Blissful Elements has wonderful c.d -of wonderful things
and a new graphics download today .
Both these girls are super talented and " Sweet "
GEORGIA _PEACHES -lol
Last year I bought all the scallop punches ovals , rounds , square -
but Archiver's now has a larger scallop -yahoo -- I do love punches !

The little snowmen bag is for a blog friend -
The little snowmen ornie --i have done for several years
This cutie is from a long ago painting book
I used to paint these on wood -yikes -- paper is faster
but I had to hand color my design - on cardstock -and cut
paste and layer and add bling. this year i changed a few things .

These were the little bargains from last year .
Some from Mich aels and the curled toes
from " Cracker Barrell they were 75% off
gotta love it !- the toes need bells or snowflakes
and oh the plans for the little pockets ! Gotta have bling -
glass glitter , cute vintage pics - I love "VINTAGE " so much ,
but the "CUTE STUFF " sneaks in there also -
YA just gotta love Gingermen, especially love to add the
glue -cinnamon tiny ginger men to things -- Oh I have a mitten idea
from long ago -- well I am 61 -so I remember some
ideas from before you were born --Just take the old change
the colors -add some glitter and there it is - well almost lol
I love it if a plan comes together .
Blessings Today !!! Happy creating -- Kathy - GA

Happy Veteran's Day -It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas !!

My favorite things to create are Christmas
decorations and ornaments . This first is inspired
by a postcard download from -"It's all in the Details -"
My second favorite thing to use is
pictures and postcards of the victorian
era -- I especially love the pictures of
babies and children -and of course
-I love imagining the story each picture tells .
Especially the quirky ones .
Yikes -lot of love going on here lol - Since the holley
brought on the idea
of the song -Deck the halls -I punched a
circle in the card and placed a picture ,
and of course a song sheet background
MY fAV thing as embellishments
is a tag followed by German glass glitter.

I am partial to gingerbread men .
Standing in Michaels -I was looking at the $1
isle - this happens a lot as 50 weeks a year
I design and make a craft project to
go along with the lesson taught at a Mission
Church -for the children . I saw the red striped
cards that you use for family pictures and send out
and thought that would be a great base for anything.
Since they are slick (several styles and patterns -
I sanded them added a little Distress ink -
love that stuff also, Then I typed the saying,
and printed it and the ginger man out.
Add embellsihes and a hanger -- The thing I
left out eas buttons --can we say addict here lol
Love all especially the old mother of pearl .
Ok gotta feed my sweetie -- after all it
is Veterans Day - He served in Vietnam -
and is so patriotic -and such a man of God -
I and our family are truly blessed .
I am in the Hop Hop Jingle Boo !-
(I just love even typing that name )
paper doll swap and they are due before Thanksgiving -
we got our names today .So will be posting
some about that -SOON !! lol

Snowman love -

Well thought I would post my latest
little snow -cone lol - Loved those for real
as a child - well , really those strawberry
ones at a fair etc are still yummy .
This is a design from - It's in the Details -
what fun it is - I being a multi media -
and can we say "Nut "about Christmas
crafting supplies -had all(to be determined later lol) things to make this
except ---- the fluff around the neck was white
used my tatteredangels spray and spritzed it --
then spray glue and a little sparkle- ok !
# 2-- I am not a sewer -- but love things that are
and appreciate those that do ! we were supposed to
gather crepe paper into a circle for a collar -- They are so cute -
but my paper of course --wrong color - so when frustrated -get a snack
-RIGHT !! well lo and behold -there in view near the chocolates were the
paper coffee filters --so I cut the side and made
< < < --cuts toward the middle -then skrunched
the middle and hot glued to make a circle -
then a little gold stickles and voila !! a snow collar
#3 - the example showed a white snowflake -
made of mat board -then to paint and glitter-
of course I had lg, gold plastic -snowflakes --
from last year - yes crazy- whoever saw gold snowflakes LOL-I know -so
then we were on the gold theme- all glittery elements thay had silver , I made gold
and can I say right here ????? - German glass glitter is my fav Christmas
crafting staple -yikes -can hurt !

P>S< I am not that smart --but when i finshed the baby
music hat cone - it said - "JOY " -just an extra special
delight -unplanned -wish I could take credit lol .
#3 - see his eyes -well no black brads in my stash UGH !
so gold ones were colored by a black sharpie -
and of course all snowmen gotta jingle right -
p.s. his nose is cute in person and is
"SILVER " - our example nose was gold -so everything in reverse
While not exactly a tutorial -- never let
lack of supplies get you down , It was so
much fun -- I made two at once -- wish I had cut out and assembled
several more --but now black -brad shopping is a must !!lol
OK new creations being worked on .
Have a great weekend -- kathy -ga

The need to create -

I changed my banner that I had made a few weeks ago to Thanksgiving
from halloween _AND I am truly thankful for
all God has blessed me with -- ( I can never
thank him enough !)
But as I was looking for inspiration -and needing to create
,_(I had a flurry at Halloween then was a slacker . )
I came across these reminders - I do love snowmen -
He replaced my Santa collecting love -a couple of
years ago . ( SAnta i still ♥ YOU !-So in this economy I need to create
myself rather than buy - When I think of all the
requests at our church food bank , and people in
my church who have been laid off - It gives me pause as to what is important .
SO , I wanted to share these old pics with you -- and will post my creations
as they occur

This cute Santa was a graphic- an old antique
storybook cover from Teresa
Mc Fayden (the Bella herself )in our
online class last year . That is handmade glass glitter
(yikes ) watch your hands -protect your eyes -
but I love it -- It is done on canvas - I totally used her ideas
_It was so cute - but I will use this in many ways and sizes
this year - using the whole book cover also .

The tag at the top is a graphic I bought years
ago . I am a total tagaholic -as you will see in future
posts - everything from package tie-ons to
large tag ornaments - I am going to try to post
a tutorial during each week - Maybe I can nail
down a certain day -- So here's hoping I get one
up maybe tomorrow -- But today I am going
to ----- VOTE !!!!! _ hope you will too .
Blessings -- Kathy -ga
