This whole month, our weekends were spent hanging out w/the other 3 families (Ana, Bee and Caroline), sometimes w/the whole gang or sometimes just one family. They are the next thing for me to being around another triplet family since they all have 3 kids. Ana finally got her live-in nanny so she hosted a few times this month, life is easier when you do have help, atleast you don't have to clean up when you have company. She made a DELISH Mexican meal one night, enchiladas and a chocolate flan...so good we all requested it again a few weeks later. That's prolly the best Mexican food we've had since Houston, not like there's a Pappasito's or Guadalajara here.
We were also able to sneak in one last beach trip to RasTanura w/Ana's family..it's prolly our last one since it was quite brutal that day. The sand was really HOT, you couldn't walk barefoot on the sand...at least kids got their beach fun in! Not only that, Clay and I were getting bitten by these tiny clear bugs in the water...that's when it was time to head to the pool instead. Afterwards we went to Ana's family for dinner, we brought our Thai food that we ordered over there. Our kids really enjoy playing w/their kids even though every one is different ages and the best part is the boys are not as clingy to Dan when we're over there...I think it's b/c they have a pretty cool play room and Ana's girls love these guys!
We also took the kids to eat Italian food at Gondola, a fancy smanchy restaurant w/Ana's family. Our plans changed along the way, Dan was following Clay through the crazy streets and we thought we were going to a kid friendly steak house, but ended up at Gondola's instead. Clay said the roads to the steakhouse were under construction, so it would have been too hard to get there. Nonetheless, it's really the company that we enjoy. Kids did surprisingly well until Tobin and Hudson wanted to play up and down the stairs...normally I wouldn't care, but it's the only way for the servers and people to get up and down. Thank goodness our food came in the knick of time!
We've been making a ritual of going to the Golf Course for brunch on the weekends too, we just don't let them play outside anymore since it's getting HOT now...some days it gets up to 110s already. I know it won't be long before I can't walk the furries and jogged in the day.
What's up with the parents?
Dan was having some major coughs, went to the Doc several times and they just said it's allergies due to all the dust and sandstorms...apparently it's normal around here, I guess our lungs just need to get used to it. Anyhow, it's so bad, it kept him up at night coughing so he was pretty tired daily. Didn't help too that there was a period of about a week that the boys kept waking up at night wanting water/milk, and of course they only wanted him...boy did I feel for him! Thank goodness that phase passed too! The coughing, not the waking up at night. We keep telling ourselves that we were so spoiled the first 2 years of their life, they would sleep through the night w/o any issues (unless they were sick)...lately Dan's been doing the night shift w/Tobin. He only wants Dan at nights.
I, on the other hand, had a bad day in the Kingdom...got my first speeding ticket on camp. I felt horrible when Dan called me to let me know. Aramco is pretty strict on "being safe" and they look down on you if you get a ticket. His boss and boss's boss had a meeting w/him...it was pretty bad. It can affect his merit increase and a negative mark is on his record. Now I just go 10 below whatever the speed limits says, I feel like a total snail! I don't even think I was even going that fast, maybe 40 in a 30 zone.
I'm also focusing on my creative side. I took a Silk Painting class, it was really cool to learn this technique. I painted a flower design that the teacher provided. That's the only thing I didn't like was that the teacher made you use her design. It's something I'd like to continue and pursue, but with my own designs.
I've also been weaving baskets out of yarn. I've made several as gifts for friends already and my printmaking instructor suggested I start making them for an upcoming art show in October. So I've been really busy!
