Kids after their doctor's appt today 2/27 (I don't know why the date is not that @ the heading).Hudson, Skyler, and Tobin. I love the little shorts they're wearing.
I can't believe my kiddos are 6 months. I'm in awe as to their growth and development even though I see them every day. I was wearing Skyler the other evening on the Baby Bjorn and my back started killing me. I had to take her out and it was only 15 minutes. They are looking so much like little people now. It's so great, they smile at you all the time!
Everyone got their 6 months checkup and shots today. Dr. Thaller was really impressed with them; he said we are doing an AMAZING job. He kept saying it over and over again; Susana said he said it about three times! Everyone's health is good, no issues at all. We asked about taking them out since RSV season is coming to an end, but he said it's year round, just not so prevalant in Spring and Summer and for us to still hold off on subjecting them to too many people. Sorry ASC, our visit will have to wait, but you're welcome to visit our home. He said we should let me CIO (Cry it out) at nighttime and really get them to sleeping through the night. They can start fingerfoods, meats, and drink regular formula and not Neosure- the high calorie one, and start introducing them drinking from a cup, not a sippy cup. Here's everyone's stats:
Skyler---26" long, 14 lbs 15 0z
Tobin---26" long, 16 lbs 13 oz
Hudson---24 1/2" long, 14 lbs 6oz
We are so proud of our babies!!!
A few things, OK a lot of thing have changed in our lives since bringing these guys home.
- broken sleep, lack of sleep, our days of lounging in bed on the weekends are gone! Now we do it for a little bit until they let us know they're hungry usually about 8:30
- errands are about 1-2 hours top if one of us is home with them. We have an unspoken rule to not leave each person alone too long and especially during feeding. I don't grocery shop or go to Costco, BRU or Target without a list!
- my showers are scheduled...I only do it on Tues, Thurs, and Sat/Sun. Yes for such a neat freak and cleaniness person I used to be, that's how it is. Headbands are wonderful!
- Having a meal is hard especially with each other, that's rare. It only happens after the morning feeding on the weekends if we're lucky, otherwise I usually eat while I pump. I forgot, we do eat together on our evening walks, mostly sandwiches and snack food (OK junk food) I do try to squeeze in a fruit for us every now and then. It has to be something easy since he's walking two dogs and I'm pushing the stroller. Enjoying a meal that's another story!
- Our TV shows we used to watch are long gone. Bye bye CSI (all versions), Ugly Betty, two and half men, 20/20, and David Lettermen. I miss Dave! We can only watch a show if it's on btw. 8-9, mostly listen to it since these guys love to talk, laugh, squeel, or cry. Crying b/c someone is waiting for food or needs to be burped/changed. On the weekends HGTV, DIY or Dan's classic cars shows are usually on so we can atleast listen to them. 24 is about the only show we've been able to somewhat follow the storyline.
- Our time with the furries...I feel so bad for neglecting them. They're so patient with us, waiting to be feed, waiting for their biscuits/chewies, waiting for some one on one time, mostly waiting all the time.
- Our time together as a couple, we used to go out on the weekends to furniture stores, Home Depot/Lowes, Marshalls, whatever and just look at or buy stuff for our home. No more of that too. We also haven't been able to go out to dinner. We miss doing our weekend morning breakfast either at a Pho restaurant or a diner.
I also want to thank some people who have helped us out so far (these are in no order, just what I remember, my momnesia is really bad): I hope I haven't left anyone out, if so I'm terribly sorry!
- My mom for funding our night nanny for the first 4 months. Sleep is so important! She also helps out with the feedings when she can, or atleast hold a crying baby. She continues to bring us food, making sure I don't miss any of my Vietnamese food cravings. Sometimes she folds the kids clothes when she's here.
- Dan's parents for giving us some money towards the minivan. We would have settle for a older model had it not been for their contribution.
- my SCT (Space City Triplets) mommy group for their support and advice. Everytime I've posted a questions there has always been someone who has given me their advice. It's really great to be a part of such a wonderful support group who's already been there, done that! Special thanks to these mommies who have helped: Astrid-for her support/advice on breastfeeding and just raising triplets, Natalie- for giving us their triple decker stroller and carseats, also tips on setting up the nursery, raising kids advice, and Lindsey- for giving us a bunch of boys clothes up to 6 months.
- Marie, my sis for helping out the first couple months and bringing over Vietnamese food along with my bro, Matthew.
- Julie, Dan's sis for helping with some feedings so I can run errands and also run some errands for us too.
- Our neighbors: Donny & Paula for always checking on me to make sure I'm OK. Rick & Jackie for giving us diapers. Sherry for making us a big ole pot of stew when I first came home.
- Susana, my day nanny for doing a wonderful job taking care of them and keeping our house clean. She's amazing---I can't function without her now.
