ate our way through memorial day.
when friends come to visit us in new york, we find ourselves eating around seven meals a day. so if you want to forgo time square & the empire state building and just consume 4,000 calories a day we are the place for you! the food is just too good here! favorite part of this town....probably. we started at cafe lalo, an absolute favorite!
huge fans of the cinnamon whip!
levain bakery, chocolate peanut butter....insane.
a eat-a-thon would not be complete without a banana pudding from magnolia.
we thought we would walk it off on the bridge. but, we ended up at the brooklyn ice cream factory.

North Carolina!
memorial day weekend was divine, thanks to buddy passes, days off work & north carolina. we had never been to the south and always wanted to go. we flew into charleston and then drove (a long time...on a small highway) to wilmington & wrightsville beach. one of the most charming places we have ever been!
obviously, a lot of people had the same idea as us.
we were on our own hometour & were hit with a torrential down pour! we took cover on this abandoned porch.
this little lady was a star traveler!

Under the Brooklyn Bridge
well, colton & brooklyn gave us a fine welcome back! we went to pier one under the brooklyn bridge, unfortunately the calexico cart was not there, but fortunately the brooklyn ice cream factory can always be counted upon for a scoop (or three in our case) of heaven! we have been wanting to take lola to the carousel there, but every time we have tried it has been closed. lola fell in love with a good carousel in st. george, so i wanted to make sure it was up & running before we told her we could ride the horse. i peaked around the corner and it was going. we were so excited! we all went racing toward the ride and practically ran into the "private party" sign. it was like a cruel joke. lo was pounding on the glass, big crocodile tears pouring out. the "private party" people had to have been heartless to not let her in. thankfully, she is still easily distracted by a good run in the park.
p.s. i want to live in brooklyn heights....bad.

utahopia
the Madam & i had a blissful couple of weeks in sunny southern utah. it was suppose to be a few days for my mom's big 50th, but a stomach flu was the perfect excuse for an extended stay & then some. picnics outside the movie theater, all of our favorite eats, carousel rides, a blow up pool, & three pups...plus undivided attention from bammy, aunt cal, aunt han, unky che, papi, & paki, santa clara proved to be better than disneyland! get ready for an obscene amount of photos.....
we went to the town square fountains almost daily, the smell of chlorine & snow cones was pure summer1
a desert hike in some desert overalls with cal was a definite highlight!
hurst general store...don't have this in new york.
dora day: bubbles, curlers, dora jams, & press on a nails...a real hit!
pretty nice time!

Central Park Zoo
We had so much fun at the Central Park Zoo. Most of the credit goes to the amazing Polar Bear! The zoo is just a tiny spot in the park with a few animals and a children's petting zoo. But, it is totally enchanting, like pretty much everything here.
