Prehistoric Party

We celebrated our good buddy, Cade's, third birthday yesterday.  It's so hard to believe he's already three when it seems like I was going to visit him at the hospital just YESTERDAY!  Time is flying by way too fast!  Cade's favorite thing in all of the world is dinosaurs.  You will rarely see him without one in tote, so that was the obvious theme for his party.  I thought it turned out so cute.  She thought of every little detail right down to the food.  We had prehistoric punch, dino-dogs (pigs in a blanket), swamp dip (guacamole), hot lava (salsa), dino toenails (bugels), and dinosaur cupcakes.

Cade couldn't have asked for better party weather so he thought it would be a good idea if we all went to the park and play to continue the fun.  Jason took the governer off of JH's tractor, so he got to drive it at full speed.  He was absolutely delighted to be able to ride along with the rest of the kids.  He was even happy to give rides!

JH and the Big Easy

Jason needed to go to New Orleans for a continuing education conference, so JH and I decided to tag along.  He was in class during the day, so we had some time on our hands to play around.  I thought he would really like to try beignets at Cafe DuMonde.  He absolutely flipped out over how good they were!   He said "beignets are good for me.  They taste like sugar!"

After devouring our breakfast, we went to Jackson square to wander around and JH immediately spotted a "giant robot."  I strolled him over to the man and watched as JH was amazed by him.  "The robot" even gave him a lollipop!  He still is talking about the robot that gave him a sucker.
We met Jason for lunch at a yummy little bistro.  For dessert, we ordered bread pudding which was fantastic.  John Hall filled up on as much as his little stomach would hold!

Later that evening, we went to eat at a restaurant recommendation from Adam and Kim. It was yummy and loud.  Nobody even noticed John Hall's noise level so that made dining out less stressful.

Kim also told me we should visit the "Insectarium."  John Hall had a blast!  Nothing like getting all the best advice from former NOLA residents.  I felt like a true insider.

We woke up on Saturday and the first thing JH said was he wanted more beignets for breakfast. That sounded like a good idea to me too, so off we went to visit Cafe DuMonde two days in a row!

Watching a parade from the comfort of a hotel lobby.

Yes, we had our baby on Bourbon street!  (only for a few minutes since the place we were eating was located there.)
The aquarium

Watching another parade that went by our hotel during the day.  John Hall said he wanted to have hot chocolate to keep him warm.  He loved watching the bands in particular.  It was really something to see.  NOLA has a culture all it's own!

We were getting a little too chilled, so we decided to finish watching the parade from our hotel room.

Little Village

Last night Ose & Pa came over to visit and have a little birthday party for Jason.  While they were here, mom and JH made a little road over by our oven and played there.  This morning, JH said he wanted to move his road so that he could see his show.  We worked for a while city planning.  He would go to his room and say "let me think what needs to go in John Hall's town."  It was so cute.  We have a zoo, airport, carwash, farm, carnival, dump, and an auto garage.  JH took a little break from play to disappear behind the curtains...I'll give you one guess as to what he was doing! Ha!  Potty training is so overdue!
