A New Paradigm: Awash in Shootings

One of those "experts" on CNN on Thursday, September 20, 2018, talking about the latest shooting, this one in Maryland, said that we are dealing with a "new paradigm."

This paradigm, of course, is that we are use to mass shootings on almost a daily basis. Needless to say, you heard about this paradigm shift beginning long ago, in books like The Copycat Effect (Simon and Schuster, 2004).

Middletown, Wisconsin

The remarkable coincidence is that on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, a shooting that took place was at a software office in Middleton, Wisconsin named "WTS Paradigm." Four employees were shoot and the gunman, an employee, was killed.

Masontown, Pennsylvania

Elsewhere, four people including a police officer were shot after a man opened fire Wednesday, September 19, 2018, in the lobby of municipal building near a judge's office in Masontown, Pennsylvania. The suspected gunman was also shot and killed by an officer at the scene. The suspect had a protection of abuse order against him in regards to a domestic violence case.

The suspected gunman walked into the lobby and opened fire, blowing out the entrance to the courtroom. He then walked into the courtroom, which had 60 people in it.

Bellingham, Pennsylvania

The next mass shooting began on September 19, 2018, and ended during the early morning of September 20, 2018.

Bruce Rogal, 59, of Glenmore in Chester County, Pennsylvania, was upset that his ex-wife had been awarded their home in their divorce on September 19th. Rogal first went to the house the two shared in West Bradford Township at 5:45 p.m. and shot at his ex-wife six times as she changed the oil in a car in her driveway. The ex-wife ran down the block, dodging at least five bullets.

Rogal then drove to his parents' Bellingham Senior Living Center on East Boot Road, in nearby East Goshen Township at 6:15 p.m. and shot them dead, police said. William and Nancy Rogal were both in their late 80s.

State police began to pursue Rogal around 1 a.m. Thursday after he drove along Strasburg Road, near the Pennsylvania State Police barracks. The police pursued him for about 3-1/2 miles into the neighborhood where Rogal's ex-wife lives.

Rogal crashed into his ex's home, then exchanged gunfire with the troopers. It was unclear if Rogal shot himself or was shot by police. First aid was rendered on the scene but Rogal was dead. No troopers were hurt.

Aberdeen, Maryland

On September 20, 2018, three people at a Rite Aid distribution center were killed by a female suspect in Aberdeen, Harford, Maryland, United States. The shooting occurred 30 miles northeast of Baltimore.

Deputies responded to reports of shots fired at 9:09 am EDT. Officers reportedly never discharged their weapons while responding to the scene. Agents from the Baltimore offices of Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI responded to the scene. The suspected shooter was admitted to the hospital, and officials did not immediately identify the suspect.

These incidents set up some intriguing syncs and links.

Zapped by Aberdeen's gases

The American musician, composer, activist and filmmaker Frank Vincent Zappa (December 21, 1940 – December 4, 1993) is directly associated with Aberdeen, Maryland.

His family moved often because his father, a chemist and mathematician, worked in the defense industry. After a time in Florida in the 1940s, the family returned to Maryland, where Zappa's father worked at the Edgewood Arsenal chemical warfare facility of the Aberdeen Proving Ground. Due to their home's proximity to the arsenal, which stored mustard gas, gas masks were kept in the home in case of an accident. This had a profound effect on Zappa, and references to germs, germ warfare and the defense industry occur throughout his work.
Zappa was often sick as a child, suffering from asthma, earaches and sinus problems. A doctor treated his sinusitis by inserting a pellet of radium into each of Zappa's nostrils. At the time, little was known about the potential dangers of even small amounts of therapeutic radiation, and although it has since been claimed that nasal radium treatment has causal connections to cancer, no studies have provided significant enough evidence to confirm this.
Nasal imagery and references appear in his music and lyrics, as well as in the collage album covers created by his long-time collaborator Cal Schenkel. Zappa believed his childhood diseases might have been due to exposure to mustard gas, released by the nearby chemical warfare facility. Source.

Phantom Clowns: Classified

In March of 1982, in Fate magazine, and then in 1983, in my book Mysterious America, I first used the term "Phantom Clowns" to talk of May 1981's Boston, Massachusetts accounts of individuals wearing multicolored clothes who reportedly were trying to entice school children into coming along with them. The eyewitness accounts of clowns in vans bothering children were discussed for the first time comprehensively in a work of Fortean wonders.

"The story of the phantom clowns went unnoticed on a national scale until I began getting a hint we were in the midst of a major flap of a new phenomenon. Slowly, after contacting fellow researchers by phone and mail, I discovered the phantom clown enigma went beyond Boston, Kansas City, and Omaha," I wrote in Mysterious America.

Fate found my piece such a popular article they featured it in Fate Editors’ The World’s Strangest Stories, “Phantom Clowns,” (Chicago: Clark Publishing, 1983).

While the chapter on "Phantom Clowns" appeared in the 1983 edition of Mysterious America from Faber and Faber, it was seen as too scary to include in their 1989 edition (Boston & London).  The "Phantom Clowns" chapter was actually left out.

But my examination of "Phantom Clowns" was back in Mysterious America, as a chapter in the 2001 revised edition from Paraview, and the new edition of 2007, from Simon and Schuster. In 2007's Mysterious America: The Ultimate Guide to the Nation's Weirdest Wonders, Strangest Spots, and Creepiest Creatures, Chapter 21's "Phantom Clowns" was massively updated with all the new cases that occurred through the release date.

I've continued writing about Phantom Clowns since then, most frequently in this blog, Twilight Language, of course, and on some radio programs.

What I have noticed, during this flap of 2016, is that the definition of what is a "Phantom Clown" is being diluted by the media.

I have always strictly defined a "Phantom Clown" episode as one involving a clown-costumed individual attempting to entice or lure a child into a van, the woods, or other isolated situations. But then when the police or parents get involved, no clown can be found or captured. The apparent "vanishings" of these clowns are the "phantom" part of the Phantom Clowns scenarios.

Most of the Carolinas incidents, therefore, are classic Phantom Clowns incidents.

In Benjamin Radford's new book, Bad Clowns (Albuquerque: University of New Mexico Press, 2016), he reinforces this definition.

In Radford's Chapter 12, "Phantom Clowns," he writes:

Most evil clowns are fictional and as such reside only in our entertainment and imaginations, leaving only a handful of real flesh-and-blood monsters that stalk our streets. We know, for example, that Stephen King's Pennywise wasn't real, though John Wayne Gacy's Pogo was.
Yet there is another category of bad clowns, one that seems to exist somewhere in the twilight between the cold, clear reality of daylight and the slumbered stuff of nightmares. These bad clowns are reported to roam streets and parks in the United States, the United Kingdom, and elsewhere looking for innocent children to lure and abduct - yet seem to vanish just before police can apprehend them. Some say they are real, while others claim they are figments of imagination. They are known as phantom clowns.
Researcher Loren Coleman coined the term and described them in the pages of Fate magazine and in his book Mysterious America. ~ Benjamin Redford, Bad Clowns, page 151.

Radford is to be congratulated for clearly understanding there are different types of clown appearances. I propose a classification system so the media writing about this 2016 clown flap can begin to realize there are definitely two entirely separate variants in the clowns being reported. One kind, luckily, has not surfaced this year.

Phantom Clowns: These are the uncaught clowns who are "luring" children into the woods, vans, and cars in the reports. These are routinely unseen by parents and police. No photographs of them are presented for examination. (Coined by Loren Coleman, 1981; see Mysterious America: The Ultimate Guide to the Nation's Weirdest Wonders, Strangest Spots, and Creepiest Creatures, Chapter 21's "Phantom Clowns.")

Killer Clowns: These are the real pedophiles who end up killing children, and murderers who kill people who use clown outfits as disguises. As Benjamin Radford mentions in his new book, John Wayne Gacy (active from 1972-1978) is the clown who performed throughout Chicago, and is his prime example. Also within Radford's book (pages 111-126), there are other recent instances, including the West Palm Beach Killer Clown of 1990; Aurora's Joker, James Holmes of 2012; and Las Vegas Jokers Wild, Jerad and Amanda Miller of 2014.

Stalking Clowns: A new phenomenon in recent years has been clowns "appearing in public," without any apparent intent other than to be seen, to startle, to shock, or to surprise folks. As Radford begins his discussion about this group of clowns (pages 99-108), "there is no law against anyone dressed in a costume, jesters or otherwise, walking down the street or visiting a public public. Several of the most famous stalking clowns have appeared in Northampton, England; New York; California; and France," (Benjamin Redford, Bad Clowns, page 99).

What I have observed is that the media, during the late summer of 2016, are confusing the "clown types." They are mixing up their classifications of clowns. Some Stalking Clowns are being mislabeled as Phantom Clowns, or being mentioned in the same discussions of the strictly Phantom variety, to end a story.

Often, these stalking clowns carry balloons. It is almost part of their motif.

On August 2, 2016, a balloon-carrying clown stirred up people in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was photographed but apparently left to go his merry way. It was a Stalking Clown.

During the current clown flap, there has been a Stalking Clown seen in Yuma, Arizona, on Monday, September 6, 2016. This is not a Phantom Clown, either. The clown-costumed individual was seen riding a bike and photographed.

There is even a nicely placed location sign in the photograph so the clown can be located correctly in time and space. The story is being run in the context of the Carolinas clown wave, of course. Source.

It is time for "Clown Classifications" to inform future analyses of this phenomenon.

(I appreciate Ben Radford's book for reminding me to mention this in conjunction with this year's flap.)

Attempted Murder For Slender Man

A murder based on a myth? It nearly happened. A stabbing's motive laid at the feet of a character created on the Internet? It did happen.

The Mythos

In an as-yet-unpublished article written in January 2014, my wife Jenny penned this beginning to her historical overview:
Slender Man is the hipster monster in the black suit waving his multiple appendages outside Generation Y’s bedroom window.
Slender Man is not a new and trendy entity; it is simply the reborn face of an ancient evil, resurrected from the ashes by ever-increasing access to media, technical advances, and the bleak corners of the human mind: evil as timeless and as ubiquitous as thought itself, pre-dating language, its true origins in death, the dark, and the rolling eyeball of primal fear.
At top: Slender Man on granite, by Andy Finkle.

The Slender Man was first created on a thread in the Something Awful forum on June 8, 2009, with the objective of editing photographs to contain supernatural entities. On June 10, a forum poster with the user name "Victor Surge" contributed two black and white images of groups of children, to which he added a tall, thin spectral figure wearing a black suit. The Slender Man (sometimes written Slenderman) is described as very tall and thin with unnaturally long, tentacle-like arms (or merely tentacles), which it can extend to intimidate or capture prey.

The Attempted Murder

On May 31, 2014, two 12-year-old southeastern Wisconsin girls stabbed their 12-year-old friend nearly to death in the woods to please Slender Man, which they had learned about online. Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, 12-year-old girls in Waukesha, Wisconsin, held down and stabbed a 12-year-old friend 19 times.

The two girls claimed that they wished to commit a murder as a first step to becoming "proxies" (acolytes) of the Slender Man. They had planned it for months, and finally made the attempt in a park on Saturday morning, after a slumber party. They said they learned about Slender Man on Creepy Pasta, a website about horror stories and legends. They planned to run away to the demon's forest mansion (in the Nicolet National Forest) after the slaying, the police complaint said.
The girls invited their friend to a slumber party on Friday evening, the complaint said. They planned to kill her during the night so they wouldn't have to look into her eyes, one girl told police, and then run away. They decided to put it off, but the next day, during a hide-and-seek game in a wooded park, they attacked their friend with a knife. One girl told the other to "go ballistic, go crazy," according to the court documents.

The victim began to scream that she hated them and started stumbling away, one of the girls told police.

The girls left the victim lying in the woods. She crawled to a road where a bicyclist found her lying on the sidewalk. Police arrived and she gave them the name of one of the girls who attacked her.

She was rushed into surgery, police said.

The two girls have been charged with attempted murder, and each could be sentenced to 65 years in prison each.

Name Game

Waukesha: Over the years, many believed, incorrectly, that the origin of the name of the city was an Algonquian word meaning "fox" or "little foxes," though it is actually an Anglicization of the Ojibwe proper name Waagoshag or the Potawatomi name Wau-tsha. Wau-tsha (sometimes written as Wauk-tsha or Wauke-tsha) was the leader of the local tribe at the time of the first European settlement of the area. This is confirmed by accounts of Increase A. Lapham, an early settler and historian of the region. According to Lapham, the word for "fox" was pishtaka. Cutler also told visitors about Wau-tsha, who was described as "tall and athletic, proud in his bearing, dignified and friendly."

(In appearance, Wau-tsha - without tentacles - sounds like Slender Man.)

Waukesha, Wisconsin has a long history of poltergeist, hauntings, and related stories. Also, the town was the epicenter for "phantom kangaroo" sightings in 1978, in Wisconsin.)

Nicolet National Forest: The national forest was named after Jean Nicolet (Nicollet) de Belleborne (ca. 1598 – 1 November 1642) was a French coureur des bois noted for exploring Green Bay of Lake Michigan, in what is now the U.S. state of Wisconsin. He was a known friend of Samuel De Champlain and Etienne Brule. He was attracted to Canada to participate in Samuel Champlain's plan to train young French men as explorers and traders by having them live among native Americans.

Painted by Gavin Doyle (1852-1919) in 1910.

Morgan Geyser: Morgan is a Celtic/Irish/Welsh name meaning "dweller by the sea" and/or "fighter of the sea." Geyser literally means "a spring that throws forth intermittent jets of heated water and steam."
Anissa Weier: Anissa as a girl's name has the meaning "pure, holy; satisfaction" and is a variant of Agnes (Greek): Latin form of the Greek name Hagnes, from the feminine form of "hagnos.Weier means "dweller at the sign of the kite (a bird of prey)" and/or "dweller by a fish pond."

Azana Shooting

There's been another mass shooting in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Are any of this year's candidates, even the ones from Wisconsin, hearing this background rumble from the heart of America?

A man police suspected of killing three and wounding four by opening fire at a tranquil day spa (Azana, African, "ultimate") was found dead Sunday afternoon on October 21, 2012, following a six-hour manhunt that locked down a shopping center, country club and hospital in suburban Milwaukee.

Authorities said they believed the shooting was related to a domestic dispute. The man they identified as the suspect, Radcliffe Franklin Haughton, 45, of Brown Deer, had a restraining order against him.
Christine Bannister, a dispatch supervisor for Waukesha County communications center, said Haughton, 45, of Brown Deer, had been found dead. She could not provide more details.
The shooting happened about 11 a.m. at the Azana Day Spa, a two-story, 9,000-square-foot building across from a major shopping mall in Brookfield, a middle-to-upper class community west of Milwaukee. Hours later, a bomb squad descended on the building, and Police Chief Dan Tushaus said an improvised explosive device had been found inside. It was later declared it was not a bomb.

It was the second mass shooting in Wisconsin this year. Wade Michael Page, a 40-year-old Army veteran and white supremacist, killed six people and injured three others before fatally shooting himself Aug. 5 at a Sikh temple south of Milwaukee.
Sunday's shooting took place less than a mile from where seven people were killed and four wounded on March 12, 2005, when a gunman opened fire at a Living Church of God service held at a hotel.

Romney's Red Dawn? Actually Not!

Well, it turns out that all of the noise about this appears to have been Matt Drudge's dreamland scenario. But, as you know now, Mitt Romney has picked Paul Ryan.

++++++++++++++Published earlier+++++++++++++

Has Romney pulled a red dawn on us?

Is the man who insisted on changing the name of the Iraqi deployment to "Operation New Dawn" going to be running for a spot in line for the presidency? Is the current head of the CIA about ready to be the vice presidential candidate under Romney? Do you feel like you are in a psy-ops movie? Well, hold on to your hat.

The soldier behind coming up with the name "New Dawn" during the ending phases of the Iraqi War may be helping to move the entire landscape of Campaign 2012 in a new direction.

Do you know that Defense Secretary Robert Gates agreed to General David Petraeus' request to change "Operation Iraqi Freedom" to "Operation New Dawn," a couple years ago? The change went into effect on September 1, 2010.
There was also a more focussed "Operation Red Dawn" earlier. Operation Red Dawn was the U.S. military operation conducted on 13 December 2003 in the town of ad-Dawr, Iraq, near Tikrit, that captured Iraq President Saddam Hussein. The operation was named after the 1984 film Red Dawn. The mission was assigned to the 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 4th Infantry Division, commanded by Major. Gen Raymond Odierno and led by Col. James Hickey of the 4th Infantry Division, with joint operations Task Force 121 - an elite and covert joint special operations team. Who do you think came up with that name?
The military operation searched two sites, "Wolverine 1" and "Wolverine 2," outside the town of ad-Dawr, but did not find Saddam Hussein. A continued search between the two sites discovered him in a "spider hole" hide out at 20:30 hrs local Iraqi time. Despite being armed with a pistol and an AK-47 assault rifle, and provisioned with US$750,000 in cash, Saddam did not resist capture.

It has been a strange month already, now this. The news has been filled with an alleged former university neuroscience student shooting 70 people in a movie audience in Colorado's Aurora (red dawn) on July 20th. One fourth of the 12 killed in Aurora are said to have been linked to the U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. Tenth Fleet at Buckley Air Force. According to their Navy site (which they admit is "subject to monitoring"), the "mission of Fleet Cyber Command is to serve as central operational authority for networks, cryptologic/signals intelligence, information operations, cyber, electronic warfare, and space capabilities."

Fast forward to the Sikh Temple shooting of August 4th. The shooter in that incident has been identified as a former psychological operations specialist out of the U.S. Army, at Ft. Bragg, Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Now, the news breaks today that former Governor Willard Mitt Romney may be interested in "New Dawn" General David Howell Petraeus to be his running mate. Who could have seen this new dawn (or is it a storm) coming?

What does Petraeus mean?

Petraeus has its origins in Petreus, which means Πετρεύς (ancient Greek)> πέτρα (both modern and ancient Greek) = stone, rock.

In Greece, the name Petreus in no longer in use, but what is still employed is Petros (which would mean stone if the word petra had a male equivelent, since it is a female word).

To the English-speaking ear, what is most familiar is to think of the origins of the first name Peter.

Peter was derived from the Greek Πετρος (Petros) meaning stone. This is a translation used in most versions of the New Testament of the name Cephas, meaning stone in Aramaic, which was given to the apostle Simon by Jesus.

Compare Matthew 16:18 and John 1:42.

Matthew 16:18: "You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church."

John 1:42: "And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, 'You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas' (which, when translated, is Peter)."

Simon Peter was the most prominent of the apostles during Jesus' ministry and is often considered the first pope.

Briefly, who is David Petraeus:
General David Howell Petraeus (born November 7, 1952) is the current Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. He was sworn in on September 6, 2011. Prior to his assuming the directorship of the CIA, Petraeus was a four-star general serving over 37 years in the United States Army. His last assignments in the Army were as commander of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and Commander, U.S. Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-A) from July 4, 2010 to July 18, 2011. His other four-star assignments include serving as the 10th Commander, U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) from October 13, 2008, to June 30, 2010, and as Commanding General, Multi-National Force - Iraq (MNF-I) from February 10, 2007, to September 16, 2008. As commander of MNF-I, Petraeus oversaw all coalition forces in Iraq.

Petraeus has a B.S. degree from the United States Military Academy from which he graduated in 1974 as a distinguished cadet (top 5% of his class). He was the General George C. Marshall Award winner as the top graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College class of 1983. He subsequently earned an M.P.A. in 1985 and a Ph.D. degree in International Relations in 1987 from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. He later served as Assistant Professor of International Relations at the United States Military Academy and also completed a fellowship at Georgetown University.

Some news reports have speculated that Petraeus may have interest in running for the presidency, especially after he visited a school known for hosting the presidential debates, New Hampshire's Saint Anselm College. Petraeus lives in New Hampshire. Despite these accounts, Petraeus has categorically asserted that he has no political ambitions.

On June 23, 2010, President Barack Obama nominated Petraeus to succeed General Stanley McChrystal as commanding general of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, technically a step down from his position as Commander of United States Central Command, which oversees the military efforts in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Central Asia, the Arabian Peninsula, and Egypt.
On June 30, 2011, Petraeus was unanimously confirmed as the next Director of the CIA by the US Senate 94-0. Petraeus relinquished command of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan on July 18, and retired from the U.S. Army on August 31.
(More on Petraeus's personal life and more, see here.)

Petraeus denied any interest in joining the Romney ticket, by day's end.

Who Was Wade Michael Page?

This is the face of the alleged Sikh Temple Killer.

Wade Michael Page called Holmes Avenue home, and use to live in Littleton, Colorado, where Columbine occurred. He was a former psychological operations specialist out of Ft. Bragg, Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Wade is of Old English and Scandinavian origin, and the meaning of Wade is "able to go; river ford," and/or "advancer."

Wade Michael Page's name, in one translation, means a "knight's young apprentice," thus directly lexilinking to the Aurora mass shooting at The Dark Knight Rises screening. Page claimed to want to "end apathy," and thus he was a misguided idealistic crusader playing the "Dark Knight" in his shooting scenario. The image of the "Dark Knight" was also linked to the Nazi SS, and Page saw himself as a Neo-Nazi.
Here are other random notes about Page, from a variety of sources:

Page is described as a "heavily-tattooed, 40-year-old ex-Army soldier." Neighbors told Fox News that he had a 9-11 tattoo. He had all kinds of symbolic tattoos.

"Page said he was born in Colorado," according to an interview he gave.

Page use to live in Littleton, Colorado, he said.

He was a former US Army "psychological operations specialist," the Pentagon confirmed.

Sources told CBS News he was a 6-foot-tall bald white man who "seemed like he had a purpose and knew where he was going." NBC reports that he was said to be "wearing some sort of tactical-type pants but no bulletproof vest or protective gear."

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has reported Wade as a member of the neo-Nazi band called End Apathy based out of North Carolina. He told an interviewer recently that he has been part of the White Power scene since 2000.

Later, the SPLC did not hold back in their description of Page. They reported on its Web site that Page was “a frustrated neo-Nazi who had been the leader of a racist white-power band” called End Apathy.

The Washington Post called the musical group a "skinhead band."

The SPLC reports that in 2010, Page, then the leader of the band End Apathy, gave an interview to the white supremacist website Label 56. He said that when he started the band in 2005, its name reflected his wish to “figure out how to end people’s apathetic ways” and start “moving forward.” “I was willing to point out some of my faults on how I was holding myself back,” Page said.

Here is End Apathy's MySpace page. (Who still uses MySpace, btw?)

In 1994, Page was arrested for causing criminal damage to property between $20 and $200, according to BuzzFeed, which examined Texas court records. The crime, to which Page pleaded guilty, was a class B misdemeanor, BuzzFeed reported.

Red Dirt Report looks at the components of these events and Operation Blue Star, which occurred between the Indian (Hindi) government and the Sikhs there, ending in the assassination of President Indira Gandhi by two of her Sikh bodyguards on October 31, 1984.

Bloomberg reports that Page was "discharged honorably from the Army in 1998 after six years of service" after serving from April 1992 through October 1998 as a sergeant and later a specialist, working as a Hawk missile system repairman before becoming a psychological operations specialist.

He was stationed at Ft. Bliss in Texas and at Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina while originally being from Littleton, Colorado. He was discharged from the Army for "patterns of misconduct," Reuters reported.

Page was never stationed overseas and in 1998 he was disciplined for being drunk on duty. That disciplinary action resulted in his rank being reduced from sergeant to specialist, according to Reuters. Page was not eligible to re-enlist, sources told Reuters.

Authorities told Reuters the suspect used a 9mm semi-automatic pistol in the shooting. The gun was recovered at the scene. Police are currently tracking the origin of the gun.

Law enforcement officials told CNN that Page legally owned the gun that was used in the temple shooting.

Page moved to Milwaukee earlier this year, according to the Journal Sentinel, and hadn't lived at his apartment for very long before the shooting. Neighbors told CBS News he only lived there for about two weeks. "Nobody has really seen him," neighbor Alma Rayes told CBS News. "We heard here and there that they've been doing a lot of arguing, between him and another female, but I haven't seen him."

The property Page rented was owned by Kurt L. Weins. Weins told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he believed his tenant was from Chicago and did not have a record of violence in Wisconsin."I had him checked out and he definitely checked out," Weins told the Journal Sentinel. We attempted to contact Weins but his phone number is apparently no longer in service.

According to CBS, authorities confirmed on Monday that Page was the suspect in the shooting. He was killed outside the temple in a shootout with police officers after the rampage that left terrified congregants hiding in closets and others texting friends outside for help.
Multiple sources tell CBS News that Page was a former member of the U.S. military, but he was no longer serving actively.

Before Page's move to Milwaukee, Page lived in Littleton, Colo., from 2000 to 2007, 9News reported. A man bearing the same name was reportedly convicted of DUI in 1999 in Denver. Page was also ticketed for driving without a valid license in 1999, according to 9News. Littleton is where Columbine happened on Hitler's birthday, 1999.

Prior to the shooting Page had broken up with his girlfriend. A woman claiming to be the suspect's neighbor told Fox News that last week she heard yelling coming from one of the apartments the FBI searched after the shooting. "She says he had returned to the old apartment and was banging on the door of his old apartment, demanding to be let in," Fox News reported.

Police spent the night searching the suspect's apartment. At one point, the police, ATF, and FBI were at the apartment in the 3700 block of Holmes Avenue in Cudahy, Wisconsin, which is about six miles from the temple. Currently no information has been released about what may have been found during the search. But, according to the Journal Sentinel, authorities left the property around midnight "carrying large items."

Business Insider said, Page, 40, lived in an apartment building in Cudahy, Wisconsin. Authorities searched the building Sunday. The landlord there told authorities Page held a night job making welding supplies. Neighbors said they believe his girlfriend recently broke up with him.
Was he alone? That is the number one question coming out of this event. Upwards of four shooters were allegedly reported.

Police say Page, whom they initially described as a heavy set Caucasian man with a shaved head and numerous tattoos, stormed the Sikh temple Sunday morning. He allegedly shot six people to death and wounded three others. Wade was killed outside the temple in a shootout with police officers.

Relatives of Satwant Kaleka, the president of the temple, told WGHP-TV that he was killed fighting the attacker. Satwant Kaleka, president of the Sikh gurdwara in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, was among the six shot dead at the temple Sunday. (Credit: Kaleka family)
