2-toned hair...

Hi everyone, Åsa here with some copic inspiration for you today.

This is actually my last post here in the blog. I wan´t to thank all of you for a wonderful time.

I have coloured up an image with a lot of hair this time!
And I have choosen to make a two tone hair as well. I know, CRAZY right!?

But I had a great time colouring it. And I think it gives a very nice effect as well.

A quick reminder when colouring this type of hair; use the very tip on the brushnib to get those small, thin lines. And remember to Flick.

The image is from Sureya/Deviant Art.
She always has challenging hair on her images. Very good for practice!

I have used the following colours:
Skin: E11-21-00-000-R11
Hair: B05-04-02-01-000/V17-15-12-00
Green: YG17-13-11

Keep on practicing on your hair.

Have a wonderful wekeend!

Coloring with red...

Hi there everyone, Åsa here today sharing some tips and tricks.

I guess it´s not only me finding it quite a challenge coloring red.

Here comes some tips on what to think about.

In coloring, with any medium actually, choosing paper is one of the most important details to consider for a good end result. When coloring with red, it´s even more important!
Softer papers tend to bleed more than denser ones.

You need a good paper, at least 200 g thick, to avoid oversaturating the paper and causing bleeding.
I have used the Perfect Coloring Paper (250 g).

One more thing to think about is being really careful when laying the ink near the lines of your image. Know that reds will travel along the paper fibers quickly.

Here are my image, colored and ready for the red ink.

I always divides the area into smaller sections, and colors a little bit at a time.
I start with my lightest color R35 and marks out my darkest areas.

Then I do the same but with my darkest color R59.
In this way I can see if the shadows doesn´t look ok already in the first step.
If Im not happy with the result I can adjust it easily just because I used the lightest color.

Then I use my middle color R37 and blend out the area a little bit.
Don´t forget to leave space for the lightest highlight.

Then I use the lightest color again R35 and fill out the rest of the spaces.

And then you just do the same to the rest of the skirt.
I usually use a middle color R39 in the end, just to bring the dark areas a little more.
But with red ink, Im always careful NOT to go over the area to many times. Not making it bleed out.

And here are the end result!

And -TA-DA- the finished card.

I have used the following copic:
Skin: E11-21-00-000-R11
Hair: E49-47-44-43-42
Red: R59-39-37-35

I hope you like it!
Big hugs.

Clean and simple

Hi everyone, Åsa here today with some new inspiration for you all.

Im showing a clean and simple card today.
I like to let the image take focus on the card.

As you can see I have used very light colors in my coloring.
BUT even if I want a very light end delicate feeling of the image, I also use the darker colors too when I color! Elizabeth made a very good tutorial on this, showing the difference. So, even if you want a very light look, don´t forget to use the darker colors too, just to get the depth. But don´t use them as much as the lighter ones.

I have used the following colors:
Skin: E13-11-00-000-R20
Hair: E44-43-42-41
Lilac: V95-93-91-00
Turquoise: BG72-01-0000
Beige: E43-42-41

Hope you all like it.

Yellow

Hello everyone, Åsa here today with some coloring inspiration.

Many of my favorite color combinations are quite soft and dimmed.
But sometimes a like to add a little bit more color, and what is more colorful than yellow?!

Although I really like the way the yellow colour 'pop' in the image I find it quite hard to colour.
The hard thing is to get depth and still make it feel as poppy and yellow as I want.

How do you think I have succeed with this one?

The image is from Sureya/Deviant Art.

I have used the following colors:
Skin: E11-21-00-000-R11
Hair: E79-77-74-71-70
Purple: V09-0-05-04
Yellow: Y00-02-06-15-23

Hurray!!

Hi everyone, Åsa here today again with some new inspiration.
It´s not going to be a Christmas card this time, alltough it´s almost Christmas.
No it´s going to be a Birthday Card for one of my closests crafting friends, who has her Birthday this close to Christmas. :)

The papers are from Gummiapan, and I have colored all the edghes with distress Frayed Burlap.

The cute image from ScrapBerrys are coloured with the following copics:
Skin: E11-21-00-000-R20
Hair: E79-74-70
Dress: BV29-25-23-20
Wings: V25-22-20
Shadow: N4-2-1-0

I really like to add shadows around and below the image to make it pop a little more.
This time I added the shadows on the right side of the image to strengthen the impression of the lightsource.

I hope you like it!

I like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
See you all soon again!

Natural hair...

Hi there Copic friends, Åsa here today with some colouring inspiration.

Today I want to show you a card with a little cutie i actually started colouring on the annual Copic Convention in Wiesbaden. And now I finally made a card of it.

I recently made lots and lots of Christmas cards, in traditional Christmas colours, so I just wanted to use a little more 'normal' colours for this one. I have used papers from Maja Designs Sofiero collection.

Here you can see a close up on the image.
I really wanted that natural look on the hair.
Letting the very tip on the Copics work really hard.

I kept the card pretty clean and simple, not so many decorations. Just to keep the focus on the image.

I have used the following copic:
Skin: E11-21-00-R20
Hair: E55-53-51-44
Pink: RV95-963-91
Grey: N4-2-1
Blue: B95-93

I hope you all like it.
Have a wonderful December!

Tutorial on dark skies

Hi there everyone, Åsa here today with a little tutorial on how I colour dark skies.
Perfekt for all those Christmas images coming up.

I have used an image from Sassy Cheryl Stamps.

I like to use the B90´s when I colour dark skies.
For this sky I have used B99-97-95-93-91.

I allways start with the lightest colour, to guide my self. Then it´s more easy to correct my self if I don´t like it. Here I have started with the lightest blue; B91.

(As you can see I allways colour with an scrap paper under my image)

In the next step I go in with my darkest colour; B99, from the beginning..

In the third step I take the next colour; B97, and smooth out the transition and take the colour further in on the image.

In the nest step I do the same with B95, I work that transition and take the colour out a little more in the image.

Then tI ake B93 and do the same, work that transitions and colour further in.

In the final step I take the lightest colour; B91, and work the transition and out of the rest of the image.

After this steps, you can be satisfied and stop. BUT, I allways take all the colours one more time. From the beginning. Exactly the same way. And this time Im a little more thorough in the transitions.

Now you can see the differnce from when I only coloured it one time.
It´s more smooth and deeper contrasts.

And here are the final result, with the rest of the image coloured in.

As you see I also made some shadows in the snow to reinforce the impression of the lightsource from the star in the sky.

Here are the copic coplours that I have used:
Skin: E21-11-00-000
Hair: E43-42-41-33-31
Clothes: BV25-23-21
Pillow: V25-22-21
Parcel: RV95-93-91 / E77-74-71-70
Dog: W5-3-1-0
Shadow/Snow: N4-2-1-0
Sky: B99-97-95-93-91
Star: YR23-Y23-21-00

Hope you like it!

Big hugs!

White little dots...

Hi there everyone,
Åsa here today with some copic inspiration.

I wanted to show how I use the 'new' product Copic Opaque White in my colouring.

I like to use it, pretty often actually, on my backgrounds.
But I also use it on my motifes.
And as today, also on my embellies.

I have used blue, beige and creme details on the whole card, And combined the same colors in the image/motife. The papers are from Maja Design.

The image is from Saturated Canary and are coloured with the following Copic:
Skin: E13-11-00-000-0000-R20
Hair: E49-44-43-42
Wings: BG10-000-0000
Dress: B97-95-93-91-000

Hope you like it!
Big hugs!

Dark skies

Hi everyone, Åsa here today with some copic inspiration.

Its already September. Cant imagine how fast the summer went by.
So - have you started on your Christmas cards yet?

I know - still lots of time.
But I have started, just a little bit.

I have used papers from Maja Design - Vintage Frost Basic, and colored all the edges with Distress Ink.

When I have an image that includes lot of "white spaces", as in snow etc, I tend to choose to colour the sky dark. I think it gives the image more effect. Otherwise it tends to make everything blends into each other, As in this cute little image from Wee Stamps, with lots of snow and polar bears.

I have used the following colours:

Sky: B99-97-95-93
Snow: N4-2-1-0-B000-0000-Blender
Polar bear: T6-4-3-1-0
Present: R59-37-35/BG95-93-91

The stars are made with an white ink pen.

I dont know if you can see it in the picture, but its all sprayed with Glimmer Mist to make it sparkle and shine.

Hope you like it. Have a wonderful week.
