That is the bell of both the beginning and freedom.

Yup, you got it. Today is a work post. Because this week is the last week that we will have this year's graduates with us, and they are all dear to me. I can't believe this - if I'm feeling like this when they are gone, how will I feel when I graduate? Because I know this now - I care for and will miss my workmates more than my coursemates.
Before I go on I have to tell you about the funny incidents I encountered today.
You see, before calling we'll usually look at the name of the alumni and some details such as whether they'd picked up before or given anything.
This alumni's first name was McDonald.
I snickered and told my friend beside me and turned back to the phonecall when a woman answered.
Me: Hello? May I speak to Mr. McDonald?
Woman: Mr who?
Me: Mr. McDonald?
Woman: *sarcastically* No, this is KFC.
And she hung up on me. I looked at the screen in shock.
Then I started to laugh and when my colleagues looked at me waiting for an explanation I couldn't stop laughing. Finally I caught my breath and told them. They laughed as well.
A while later I called this alumni called Peck Hwee. He said, "You looking for Peck Hwee or Peck Lee?" I said Peck Hwee. He said, "Peck Hwee is my brother. This is my number, it has never been his number." Trying to get a way to contact him I said, "Oh, is this your brother's email?" And proceeded to read it out. He kept quiet for a while and said, "That is my email. How did you get my email?" I was confused by now and when he said, "I don't know what you are doing because you say you're looking for my brother but you have my number and my email."
Well, it didn't end badly but it was hilarious because I was so confused by the whole thing.
Okay on to the pictures.
That's dear Alex & Ivan, both graduating and their bromance.

Alex, Weihong and Yew Chin with some face/arm cramp :P

Ivan not being an ass for once.

Ray & Alex :)

Xue Lian smiling to herself at the video shoot.

Ivan & Naiyun, who soon after this rips off his cap to show his freshly-cut hair. Which wasn't very appealing.

Weihong & I.

Ivan & his "swag".

:DDDD

iGave.

Board for the game on Farewell brunch in which we guessed the price of a hamper. Chan Fai won.

A list of objections. Definitely not exhaustible because alumni are amazing like that.

Where we work.

Graduates.

Nobody dares to sit in the center.

Of course I'm the buayba one.
So much love, and so little time.
Forever a part of me - NTU Phonathon.
We rock.
Love,
Lydia

The Alex post

I guess after a year of waiting he deserves his own post.
There isn't much to say actually. I've said what I wanted to say on my lj.
Still.
He was there and I ran up to him, slipped my arm in his and shouted, "HI I MISS YOU SO MUCH," laughing giddily.
He grinned at me and pulled me into a hug, saying hi.
We fell into step and I asked him where we were going.
He said he didn't know. He stopped and looked around, then asked if I wanted to stay there at Raffles Place or go somewhere else. I shrugged.
"But I needa pee first," I said.
He nodded and said he'd wait for me outside. It was a long queue so I texted him that and he told me, "Haha alright. I'll go to topman k!"
Then of course when I got out I couldn't find him. Cos I've been to topshop but I didn't know where topman was. I figured it'd be near so I went to look for it. Just as I was giving up and texting him "where is topman??" I looked up to see him looking at his phone.
We went up and down looking for places to eat but he said he didn't want to eat anything western, having come from the US.
So in the end we just went to the foodcourt. I went to get food and then he did.
We sat and ate and spoke.
It was really nice.
I love meeting old friends who've been away.
There's so much to talk about.
It was funny cos he doesn't care what others think and just spoke whatever came to his mind.
After that I said I wanted to get a drink. So we went around again looking for places to go. Everywhere was full so we just walked around. He bumped into his friend who was with a girl and talked to him for a bit. Then he got his bright idea to go upstairs to see what there was.
We got lost after we went up to the convention halls. Found ourselves in a series of expensive-looking hotel-type places. We went outside to try and find our way but Alex has no sense of direction and refused to let me lead.
He went to the toilet four times.
"What?? Again?? But you just went!"
"You know I drink a lot of water!"
"Yeah but you didn't drink any just now!"
After that he led me to the National Library. We walked there, a familiar path since my mom used to work nearby and we'd walk there often.
All this while we were talking.
I was so exhausted by the time I got home.
I fell into a deep sleep and didn't wake up till noon.
Ah well.
There you go.
A more fleshed-out memoir.
For the days to come.
He's staying till August so no doubt I'll see him again.
After so much time away,
and he's still the same boy I know.

Lol at the pretentious title.
HELLO. I know I haven't been here in forever but I've been so busy!!
Okay let me see. What do I have to talk about.
Let's start with my parents' sudden and random trip to Japan.
The tickets were like $300 so they went with church/family friends.
So the three of us had the house to ourselves for a week.
They left on Sunday, which meant we slept at 5am on Sunday.
Hahahaha :P Nah I had work to do okay.
Generally there wasn't much difference actually.
We didn't eat, and Lewis did the ironing while I folded the clothes and Laraine cleared the rubbish every other day when she remembered or when we threatened to kill her.
We started to miss them after a while, of course. Mostly when nobody came home at 7 with food. We got by though. Made some Laksa ramen. Had diarrhea after. Ordered McDonald's. Had diarrhea after. Skipped meals. Had diarrhea after.
Slept late and watched tons of Disney movies. Lion King, Little Mermaid, Emperor's New Groove. Harry Potter, as well.
On the last day before my sister left for school I told her to be back early, since we had to clean up the house before our parents arrived. They'd be back early Friday morning, 3 am.
She came back in the evening - strangely she didn't come back any later than 9 on the days they were gone - and we gathered in the living room, my sister on the chair and my brother on the sofa.
I took a commanding position of course. I like to be on top.
Hahahaha.
Me: Okay, we have 6 tasks to fulfil. Each person will choose two and do them. Okay?"
Lewis: Where got 6 tasks.. You anyhow make up one.
Raine: What 6 tasks.
Me: Sweeping, dry-mopping, mopping, general clean-up of living room and study, general clean-up of kitchen and service balcony and vacuuming!
Lewis: I vacuum!
Raine: I mop.
Me: Ok we let Lewis choose first cos he iron clothes. Then Raine we scissors paper stone.
I won.
Me: Ok. Lewis what you want.
Lewis: Vacuum.
Me: Ok I sweep.
Raine: I mop.
Lewis: I dry-mop.
Me: I clean living room. That means Raine you clean kitchen and balcony. Ok?
All: Ok.
Me: Ok we start at 10.
Raine: No we start at 11.
Me: Oh yeah got American Idol.
So at about 10 + 11 we started to work. My sister got out her speakers and we turned on loud music as we did so. Eventually we started dancing. She was a bit high that day - no, a lot high - and she kept begging me to dance. So there we were, she was dancing in her underwear and my brother was threatening to take and publish videos of it until he got up and danced too.
It was awesome fun and we were perspiring like hell.
My brother went to sleep at about midnight and my sister and I watched TV and made laksa, waiting for my parents.
When they came through the door my dad said, "Why never sleep!"
And we told them we were waiting for them.
Mom came over and showed us all that she'd bought for us and I cradled the bottle of expensive shampoo she'd bought for me.
We went to bed at about 4.
So the days passed and we fell back into our usual routine.
Yesterday I came home with my mom and my dad told us something that had me in stitches.
Dad: Today very drama.
Me: Why.
Dad: Y'know I go Japan got this heavy leather jacket. I hang to dry. Then when I look back it's gone. Drop to 8th floor. So I went to 8th floor and knock nobody answer. I went one floor down cos it's in between 8 and 7 floor. They say sorry can't help cos they don't hang clothes one, ask me to wait for 8th floor auntie. Your brother very smart ask me to leave a note.
Me: What smart it's common sense.
Dad: So I left a note. Wait very long nothing happen. Then it started to rain so I look down. Auntie keep clothes. I went down and she answered the door and said Ok I help you take. I said very heavy ah she said ok. Then she came out and said sorry drop to 7th floor.
Me: HAHAHA
Dad: So I went to 7th floor and they say ok help me take I said very heavy ah they said ok. I went downstairs to watch and I saw the jacket drop past 6th floor to 5th floor. So I went to the 5th floor ask the malay auntie help me take.
Me: Wahlou damn dumb.
Dad: The whole thing took 45 minutes, run up and down.
Dumb like what, I tell you.
Anyway, I gotta go my arm is aching from typing too much.
One last paper tomorrow and then FREEDOM BABY
AND ALEX IS BACK
WHEEEEEE.
:D
I'm so happy I can't begin to explain it.
HAVE A GOOD DAY
Love,
V
