Baltic Amber

My step-son,his wife and our grand-daughter, Eliza are living in Korea. The 2 major forms of communication with them are FaceBook and skype.
Shel always seems to find the most interesting sites, and ideas on the web. Just recently she found this one.
check this out.  http://hyenacart.com/inspiredbyfinn/ Shel's had a couple of tough rounds with little Eliza's teeth just coming in. After she purchased one of the teething necklaces, Eliza has had all 4 front molars and I think 2 other teeth come in. WITHOUT any fuss or discomfort. Shel, (and Eliza) didn't even realize the teeth were coming through....but amazingly this "fossil" has even more healing properties.
You can check out the website above with more info and I also copied and pasted below some of the info.
I have also checked out other websites...Amazing information and worth checking into.

Baltic amber is not a stone, but a fossilized tree resin.
Historically, Baltic Amber has been used in Europe as a natural and traditional remedy and curative for many ailments for centuries. Long ago it was considered one of the leading ‘medicines’ of its time. Baltic Amber is the most esteemed amber in the world, and the healing qualities of Baltic Amber make it unlike any other type of amber found in the world.
When baltic amber is worn on the skin, the skin’s warmth releases trace amounts of healing oils from the amber. These oils contain succinic acid and are absorbed into the skin.
Baltic Amber has some of the highest concentrations of Succinic Acid found in nature, and this is what makes it so special. Succinic Acid is a natural component of plant and animal tissues, and it's presence in the human body is beneficial in many ways.

How can baltic amber help us?
  • Pain Relief -
Baltic amber contains analgesic properties and helps take the edge off of many types of discomfort associated with dental issues, headaches, joint pain, etc.
In many different and subtle ways, succinic acid helps boost the body's own natural healing ability and immune system.
  • Restoring Energy –
The human body naturally produces succinic acid. The salt of succinic acid (succinate) is one of the most active substances in the processes of cellular respiration and intercellular energy creation. Succinic acid restores oxygen and energy supply to depleted cells and helps the body return to a normal, functioning state.
Succinate is a raw material and a catalyst in the Krebs Cycle which is one of our main sources of energy. During the Krebs Cycle carbohydrates, fats, and proteins are metabolized for energy.
  • Maintaining Wellness -
When the human body reacts to stress, the body’s cells begin to use oxygen more quickly. Oxygen plays a central role in the intercellular creation of energy, and a lack of oxygen can result in feeling lethargic.
Oxygen is alkaline-forming in the blood and maintaining a slightly alkaline blood ph helps keep us healthy. Whenever the body functions in a state of low oxygen, it is much more susceptible to illness.
  • To help break a cycle of (chronic) inflammation -
Where chronic inflammation is present, disease lurks.
When the body’s cells are chronically inflamed the human body’s immune system response is to increase production of free radicals. Chronic overproduction of free radicals results in inflammatory-related disease. Chronic inflammation is a common denominator of many seemingly unrelated diseases.
While wearing a piece or two of baltic amber jewelry may not cure all that may ail you, it has been a proven benefit to many!

Stressed out and Halloween...not in the same context.

Spent Wednesday and Thursday in the hospital with my mother.
My brother, Stan, phoned me Tuesday night and let me know what was going on. He lives about 20 minutes from her.... I live about 1 hour 20 minutes away.  Anyway....the admitting tests showed that she has a *huge* clot behind her heart in her lung. They ran more tests on Wednesday and found more clots in both legs.
I stayed home today, to take care of Peepers, and Stan calls this morning and tells me they have taken her off her medications, one of which was a shot in her side. Seems they could not get her bleeding to stop, just from the shot. Not quite sure what we are going to do....but seriously thinking about getting a second opinion. Getting contradicting stories from everyone about what should be done.....this is soooo stressful!!!!!  Going back up tomorrow to find out more.

Good news...Peepers and I had time today, to put some finishing touches on the main bathroom that we are decorating in Halloween....just a few more ideas...then pictures.  :)  She loves to help and be involved in things like that and it's fun to see how proud she is of her own accomplishments and ideas.

I know it's early to put up Halloween decorations, but I *LOVE* Halloween.
There is so much a person can do with purple, blues, black and orange and bits of yellow.  The decorations that are accessible now are amazing, there are so many ideas to work with.
Since we live so far out, we rarely get company, so we are the only ones to enjoy it...seems silly sometimes but I love to do it.
When I lived closer to town, we use to have Halloween parties and they were so much fun....to dress up and see everyone else dress up...it's like a fantasy of good fun, one night a year. and it's different and creative every year.
And then to get dressed up for the trick or treater's.... to hand out candy.
The smiles on the little ones faces, as you *try* to guess who they are, is priceless. They are always so proud of their costumes.

There are a lot of people that may disagree with me, and only think it's evil, and the devils work, but I look upon it as fun and a time to be more creative every year.
Halloween is what a person makes it to be. I choose the happy, fun side of it, maybe a "little" scary...it depends on what you think of spiders and skulls, and those things you can find in biology and science lab/rooms.

So......WHAT do you plan to be this Halloween?  =)

back to work.....

Back to work at Bennetts Greenhouse!!!  YEAH!!!!
I LOVE the work and the people I work with....but this "older" body needs to get back into the routine of getting up early and the hours that I am putting in.
I am working 10 hour days on Fri, Sat and Mon and 6 hours on Sunday.
And I am determined to not let this "old" and "out of shape" body get me down!
We have had an unseasonably warmer spring this year and customers are hitting us hard, anxious to put out their gardens and flowers.
What they do not realize, or clearly not thinking, that our nights are still too cool for a lot of the plants that they are purchasing.  You cannot take tomatoes, peppers and a few other choice veggie plants or annual flowers, from the greenhouse and plant right away into the ground!  Even if we don't get a frost, the ground is still too cool at night and the plants will not grow!  This IS great weather for  broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, lettuce and the rest of the cold crop plantings. And pansies if you want to add color until it gets warmer! We try to explain this to customers when they are purchasing, to save them another trip and to save $$$ from lost crops and flowers. Some listen...some think they know more than we do?
I have the next couple of days off, and it is yard clean up time!
Fun, satisfying and boring all in the same!
I am without a car till at least tomorrow. Seems I needed 2 new front tires, tie rod (?) and something else. So I have no excuses not to get anything done. Other than FB and blogging! :) And catching up on laundry.
Brian is stopping after work and picking up Fertilizer for the garden to be tilled into. Seems we need more phosphorous and nitrogen.
Also going to start making that abundance of chicken "poop" useful.

One of the "perks" working there, (other than the great discounts) are the free flowers you get to bring home :)  The fresh flower bouquet was considered "too old" too sell, along with the carnations, both with a LOT of life left in them. There is a freebie pile under the timeclock for all employees to enjoy. (the bouquet, was an added bonus yesterday, specifically handed to me....) I LOVE MY JOB! :)
(ooooh...don't look at the dusty mantel!  I just managed to take the Easter decor off of it Sunday evening) I'll get to that later...(dusting!)

ER trip and new life...

About 5pm Wednesday, I had the SCARE of my life....I went to the bathroom (just what you wanted to know) then I heard Rennie screaming....came into the dining room and her little face, shirt and hands were COVERED in blood and it was still flowing!   It seems that she was petting Esme (cat) by the patio screen door and two of the feral kittys were outside the door, which upset Esme....Esme had scratched Rennie, not actually scratches but punctures in 3 different places on her face...but one of them was right underneath her eye, and Esme had caught a blood vessel.  This one is the only wound that was bleeding. My first thought was she was going to bleed to death.,...not kidding...blood was gushing out! Got a cold wash cloth, put over it and told her to hold it there...grabbed our coats and left for town,.....took her to Alicia's clinic where she works, then straight over to the ER.  (the clinic is next door to ER by the Hospital.) by the time we got to the clinic it had stopped bleeding. But we had her checked out anyway, because of Cat Scratch Disease and infection. She is now on an antibiotic.  Well by the time we were getting ready to leavethe hospital she had charmed all the nurses and Dr's. There were actually 6 of them in there listening to her. The Dr talked about putting a glue like stuff on the puncture, but decided to leave it open for air. And he did say she might have a small tiny scar from it.
Alicia took this photo the next morning....but when we stopped by to see her yesterday evening, her poor little eye was almost all black and blue and a lot more swollen.

Ren is now telling everyone she sees about the entire experience!
And we do not blame her or Esme. She knows now to stay away from her when strange kitty's are around.

This has reminded me of when Ren's older sister, Mara, was stung by a bee, 12 years ago.

Now on a happier note....here are Miley's babies...4 new little yorkshire terrier puppies.....

They were only 6 days old when these pictures were taken...imagine these 4 little darlings inside of this tiny little mama! :)

it sucks.....pups.....buck .....new school....

Sorry about the language but....not having Health care Insurance really SUCKS!!!!
For the last couple, three weeks, my chest has been r e a l l y tight....and I can't really cough because it is so dry....then when I do cough, it is hard to breathe. Tuesday was super bad...I could not walk from one room to the other without struggling to breath....so yesterday I spent all morning on the phone trying to get into one of the community health centers....to shorten the post...I ended up going to Urgent Care, seen a Dr that has a reputation for "herding" patients through ....he came into the room with his little laptop and only repeated what I had told the MA, then proceeded to tell me the medications he was going to prescribe, then he was out the door!
He gave cost me plenty $$$ for an antibiotic and an inhaler. Anyway, I'm hoping they help by tomorrow!
Okay now for some GOOD news....Kim's little Yorkshire Terrrier, Miley, had 4 puppies early this morning....hope to see them later today. That is a LOT of puppies, because Miley is so small and this is her first litter!

Even though I felt like crap Tuesday, I went with Alicia and Rennie to the open house for the local Christian school in town, where Ren will hopefully go for her schooling years.  First picture is of the Pre-school class and teacher....I was super impressed with the teacher.
Ren had such a good time she did not want to leave!
Last night Brian brought home the buck that he had shot last fall.....and without a lot of wall space big enough to properly display him at the moment, he is hanging in the family room in place of all of the grandkids pictures....  going to have to re arrange things!
Brian's name and picture of the buck will appear in Crockett's (?) book for one of the largest buck shot with a "bow and arrow" for last season....YAY!
I'm so very PROUD of him! :)

A Healthy Relationship....and one less chicken

Last night when I went out to lock up the chickens...there were only 4 of them instead of 5. Brian went out and looked around and no sign of her.
And still did not see her this morning, Since I had to leave before daylight .
Ren and I got back out here about 1 today....and I found what was left of her,  So Sad!   Good news is we now have 3 new baby chicks inside...I am hoping this year they will be chickens and not roosters, like last year.

This was one of the main topics on the Yahoo Home page today and I thought it was worth repeating.....  A Healthy Relationship...
  1. Loyalty: Whether it's in friendships or in family, loyalty is truly important to maintain a healthy relationship. All of us are guilty, at one time or another, of making mistakes, having ups and downs, and even displaying some behavior that we may not always be proud of.  When we find friends or loved ones who can forgive us and stand by us…even during our worst moments…we should be especially grateful.  That said, loyalty should never be taken for granted and we should always be deeply appreciative when it comes our way.
  2. Respect: I once knew an individual who was very opinionated about political topics.  She would talk down to people who disagreed with her and would be very disrespectful.  Not only did she make people feel stomped on, but she left many disinterested in friendship. Treating others with kindness and the respect they deserve is important in gaining the respect that WE desire.  It never feels good to be taken for granted, judged or used and it doesn’t feel good to be talked down to or treated rudely or inappropriately.  There will be times that we may not always have full agreement with our friends or loved ones, but respecting them along the way is a must.
  3. Unconditionally There: There is nothing worse than having someone always resurface in your life when they are in need, are looking for something or need a favor. In a culture of “you scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours,” it is somewhat rare to find those “who just scratch your back,” period.  Finding individuals who want you in their lives just because…and not because they want something in return is refreshing and worth holding on to. Those who are generous of heart are to be treasured!
  4. Trustworthy: I once worked with a woman who, within my first week on the job, felt the need to tell me all of the intimate details of the various extra-marital affairs that had occurred with the management of the firm. She was supposedly friends with these people and I have no doubt, was told this information in the most strictest of confidences.  How she felt it was appropriate to divulge this information to a new-hire like me, I still have no idea.  But, it was her nature to gossip about everyone and everything.  If you share something in confidence, you should be able to trust that the information will remain that way.
  5. A Genuine Sounding Board: Taking a genuine interest in what others have to say and really listening to someone is important in developing solid relationships.  Letting go of the “me, me, me” and focusing on the other person not only makes the other person feel valued and appreciated, but they feel that they can really talk to someone who cares. Those who take the time to really listen to our thoughts and feelings, and then help us work through difficult times and situations, share our lives at a much deeper level than those who don’t.  These are individuals worth hanging on to.
  6. Dependability: I had a friend who frequently would RSVP to small gatherings and then would never show.  They never explained…never brought it up…and never apologized.  Although this example is somewhat trivial, it still makes the point.  Obviously there are times when things come up that prevent individuals from following through on what they promise, but if a friend, co-worker or family member perpetually drops the ball, they may be sending you a message.  If a friend says they are going to do something or be somewhere, you should be able to count on them.  And, in reciprocation, they you.

our weekend...

Brian and I went to my brother's and sister-in-laws house Saturday to have an old fashioned sit down dinner with and for our Mother's 80th birthday.
Teresa (sister-in-law) fixed '"Poor Man Lobster Stew", made with salmon that my brother (Stan) had caught the previous summer. IT WAS SCRUPMTIOUS!

My mouth is still watering for more of it!
This is our Mother, 80 years old today.

Still getting around and she's not senile yet....
just a little slower than she used to be. :)

Stan and Teresa have just re done their kitchen and put all wood flooring in all of the rooms downstairs....  I LOVE the flooring and that is the one thing that I did not get a picture of.....guess I'm the one getting senile!
The pictures that I took of the kitchen really do not show how really beautiful it is,.....

Then I went out side and took pictures of their pond,.,.. I love it!  This is where I once caught a 26 inch catfish....really I have a picture of it somewhere.    The pond looked beautiful with the ice still on it.
had to get the flag pole and the pier too
the fountain in the middle ....
and the sandy beach area that Stan created for summertime fun!
Now, I can't wait for summer to really get here!
*************************
Today we went to church, then to O'Charleys for brunch.
We were really on our way to the grocery store, and we stopped at Best Buys to get some sort of cable that Brian needed....well we got the cable and I also got a "new" camera......yipppeeee!!   \(^O^)/
Now ....to figure it all out!

The WEDDING!

The Wedding was perfect.....waiting for the photographer's pictures to post.
He took some really "fantastic" poses! He was with Corinne and Dustin all weekend, during the Rehearsal, with Corinne at the beauty salon and all night at the reception.  Can't wait to see them all!
Peepers was the little flower girl and she did a fabulous job, dropping the petals down the aisle and as soon as she was done, she came and sat with us.
But she was so tired from all of the excitement of the day, that she fell asleep during the wedding and Brian had to carry her out....so she did not get to walk back down the aisle with the wedding party as planned, after the ceremony. :(

Here are a few of the photographer's pic's that he has shared so far....

Then here are a few random pic's that I took......the "Diva" was the Guest register

Dustin, Shawn and Jamey.

Corinne was (is) BEAUTIFUL! And they are such a Happy couple!
Can't believe that everything went so well considering that it was all planned and done within 8 weeks!
And all of the little details included!

And NOW we get to look forward to another grandbaby....due August 21st!
Corinne and Dustin came out Wednesday and had recorded the baby's heartbeat on their cell phone...amazing! :)
Happy Day !!!!

Pre -wedding week.....

Well....the wedding is this coming week end....
Are we ready......I think so.....I hope so!!!!
I'm finishing up the programs today!
Have to take the vases to the florist Wednesday....and paying the extra for him to deliver to the church and the reception hall....one less thing we have to worry about the day of.
Have my hair appointment made...to touch up the forever ending 'white roots' that keep showing up EVERY WEEK .....oh and last week, I went back to my 'birth' hair color, which was a Deep warm brown w/soft red undertones.
Think I'll keep it this color....for awhile!

I found the "perfect little basket to hold the programs the way they were designed. (by Yours truly) It has an attached lid that can be used for anything after wards...added bow and programs.....

I made 4 different programs for them to choose from and these are the ones they chose.  Corinne's colors are Red and Brown.

The little "match books" are actually little notepads to throw around on the guests tables.
I went out and took pictures of unity candles in the stores and this is the one they liked the most...and we now have for that part of the service.
and this is the gift card box....it is from the same line as the unity candle....I just added ribbon and a frame with their picture on the front.      I didn't want to unwrap the toasting goblets again...so I will try to remember to take a picture of them at the reception. And the swans will hold the nuts and mints for the cake table.
I have used these in 3 other weddings that I have done. They are perfect for nuts and mints.   I was going to make the mints out of red, white and brown chocolate.....which I have done before...but that was when I had more time.
I tried 'the' dress on again this evening.....still not crazy about it .....but it will have to do......I just can't eat for the rest of the week....and heaven help me if I have to go Pee.....I think a catheter would work better for me.
But first I "have" to eat the chocolate covered cherries from Wolfs Candies.... you just don't let something like that go to waste!
Dustin's mother and step dad are in total control of the food and drinks for the reception..... their decision and one that I am more than happy to let them do it....I have already done my share of food preparation for several weddings and it is quite an undertaking.

OH....I ALMOST FORGOT to tell you all the best news of all.....if you remember or read the post in October.....last year was not a very good year for us...work related. Brian's job was working shorter hours and there were weeks when there was no work, then in October, his company canceled everyone's health insurance.....bad timing for us  because the first week of December, Brian had a heart attack....Thankfully he is better and on medication etc etc but this all happened with no insurance!!!
Well, things are looking up....he contacted his previous place of employment and a week ago Monday he started back to work there.
He gets a $1 more an hour, a full 40 hour work week and they created a title at work just for him! And in 30 days we will again have Insurance.....YIPPEEEE!!!

boring....but BEAUTIFUL!

Almost white out conditions yesterday
early afternoon......
last night,  on the grape vine

and outside back door.......

and this morning......

out front.....the sky is so blue.

God's Peaceful, quiet Beauty surrounds us.
