Reminder Post The Flower Challenge #55 Pretty Pastels

I have used digital images provided by our sponsor this month

I have tried to keep my colours nice and light but I think maybe this would be hard pushed to be called pastel flowers. Copic coloured and the oval is soft blending of pink and blue together.

After I coloured the flowers I decided to fussy cut them all and
change the layout and added some foam at the back for a bit
of dimension. Added the die cut birthday sentiment and a few sequins.

More apricot colouring on these roses. And I left them in the original bouquet.

Added a blended circle background with Distress Oxide, some dimensional foam.
The same birthday sentiment and sequins.

Now its time to go check out what the girls have been up to at The Flower Challenge

Thanaks so much for coming to visit

A Couple More pastel Cards

This is not my reminder post  but just a couple of extra cards that I was playing around with.

I stamped these flowers, one with black ink and the other with a pale ink colour to try some no-line colouring which I have not had much success with. This time I feel it went a bit better than my last attempt, The secret I think small image, easier than a big flower.

These are meant to be pastel but I'm not sure I succeeded here, looking a bit strong.
Anyway Copic coloured, fussy cut then added to a very pretty Die Impression plate from Altenew.
The 'Hello' die and background from  'The Ton' word set and after everything I realised the plate had impressed but not the bottom edge. Rather than try and cut off and probably ruin the whole card I added two rows of thin gold foil and white washi tape lined up perfectly.

This card is my no-line attempt. I was quite pleased, well happy enough to make a card with the fussy cut image. Added to a 3D embossed background from I'm not sure. Added the 'Thanks' die cut again from that set from 'The Ton'. Also decided to add the double line of washi tape as I quite liked the look even though it wasn't needed in this instance.

I hope you enjoyed your visit and that you again soon. Now off you go to check out
The Flower Challenge if you haven't already been there.

The Flower Challenge #55 Pretty Pastels

Whenever I go to type particular words I have to sit and think about it that e before or after, for me thats pastels and angels or is it angles.

Anyhoo its time for our latest challenge and nothing so pretty in Spring on that other side of the world than all those soft colours and beauty everywhere. I have had to work hard on this idea as I am rather heavy handed with my colouring and most end up looking intense, vibrant even but rarely soft pastels.

This is card three, the other two have been cut up and will have the images for later use, like when we want intense, build up of colour.

I used one of our Sponsors free images and blew it up large enough that there were petals and leaves hanging off the page and once convincing my computer that I still wanted to print up (Image is too large for paper output).
The first one I coloured with Distress Oxide inks and ohhh I tried to keep it light but it just wasn't happening. So I looked through some free digital papers I had on the computer and found this one. So easy to import first one image then the flowers on top. I printed up on Copic friendly paper but I dont know if that made a difference to the colours I added once the full ink layer had been added.

I kept the colours really light each one in the 000 or 00 then 01 or 02 at the most. Sometimes bringing one colour down into another colour and cross blending.

I then added shimmer as one does for these cards and a dear friend who is totally into bling and colour suggested the gold bead centre for the flowers- ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for a finish.

I didn't have a die for slimline with those little scallops so I used a line die with the stitches and small scallops and I found that it just dropped into position perfectly when I needed to go further than the actual size of the die.  I have tried photos from upright to laying down to holding so you can see what it looks like. Not looking forward to trying to add this to Instagram but anyway.

I love how it turned out, no sentiment so available for any occassion. Now its time to pop over to The Flower Challenge blog and see what everyone else has done, check out all the stunning inspiration and see what our Guest Designer, Ghea, has made.

Also don't forget there is a prize for the Top pick kindly given to us by Varadashama

Hope to see you again soon and love hearing what you think.

Birthday Card For a Girl

I do love my Distress Oxide Ink and Distress Ink inkpads for giving me vibrant backgrounds. Always done in rainbow colours not laways adding all colours but combining from two ink pads to make a centre colour.

There is a bit of watercolour build up on the edges but not enough to worry about it. I left as it was, it is homemade. I decided to use this wonderful big bold Happy Birthday word die from Mama Elephant and I added a silver glitter layer over a purple cardstock layer just off centre to show both.

My little genie I coloured ages ago and I know I could have improved on the colouring but this is about making quick easy cards and using your stash not obsessing.
I'm not sure if she is still available these days, could be from one of those companies that have come and gone.

I finished the card off with some enamel dots that blended in perfectly with the colouring I made the background. The background was a fraction too short for my card and I didn't want to risk trying to trim and ruining the finish so I added a strip of washi tape glitter.

Another birthday card for my granddaughters and grandsons friends.

Thanks so much for visiting and see you again soon
