Im so M.I.A!

Oh my goodness. I feel so disconnected from my blog world and all of my very awesome friends that dwell there. I am so off in M.I.A land, I just have not visited any ones blog, commented, emailed, updated, NOTHING!!!

I have been so very busy this month with different events and activities, and this weekend I will be flying to FL. This will be my last big event going on and then I think things will go back to normal!!!!

I have to admit that I really have been into reading and looking at all things Blythe, and I have kind of gotten sucked in. My first one will be coming this week and I look forward to customizing her and seeing how this new hobby goes:)

Who would have thought that I would be into dolls?? lol Well I'm not, just them because I find them beautiful in an interesting, Tim Burton sort of way! Plus I really enjoy watching and seeing the whole process of taking them apart and making them, its very unique and fun.

The Little Red Suitcase has been lacking, so I will be returning to it in March. It has been put on the back burner, and I'm not to happy about that, but you just cant push things.

Well I just want to say HELLO to everyone and I will be back to my old self soon:)

Without you guys, the world would be a gray place!!!

Tuesday that feels like Monday!

Back to work for me today, it went well though. We attended a sing a long at the library, which was a bit noisy, tons of kids, and OH MY GOODNESS!! hahaha.

I am currently obsessing over these.................................................. Especially these ones that this girl designs. I think I like them because they are so unique and really a piece of art. You can customize them anyway you like, and its just an endless possibility thing. I wouldnt mind having one:)

So I have been over at Flickr, viewing tons and tons of them. I would like to get one thats not in good shape and really fix it up, that is my goal!

Tomorrow we are expecting some snow, again. It has been way to warm out on and off lately and that can be a bit confusing in winter, ya know?

Well im off to dinner, just wanted to pop in and say hi, and share my secret obsession at the moment!

A re-cap

Yesterday we went into Columbus Circle to see The Handmade nation Premiere, it was great! Cant wait for it to come out onto DVD, I think all of you will enjoy it. After seeing it, I felt like going home and making tons of stuff, it was that inspiring. I really love to see that sneak peek into other creative people's lives, to see where they create, what they create, I love all of that information and that's exactly how this film was composed.

It also really went into why DIY is important, all the different aspects, the ma and pa shops against the big bad Wal-mart. How handmade items are made with more care and love, more perfection, which is so true. Its really worth it to pay that extra dollar or two or even 50Ty and get a quality product and also know where its coming from.

The whole Handmade Nation crew really put together an interesting documentary, complete with some lovely music.

The only problem I had, was this women in front of me. Her hair was huge, like frizzy flaring out huge, so I had a problem seeing over it, oh about 90% of the time. It seemed that every time I moved right to get a good view, she leaned right. Or if i moved left she moved left. By the end of the film I wanted to tug at her hair or something, I was getting so frustrated!!!

On the way out I was going to go up to the creators and introduce myself and say hello. So I was waiting on the line and all of a sudden these two big guys just cut right in front of me, well I was not in the mood for a brawl(Will my boyfriend was ready to pounce) Well I gave up and left, trying to keep the peace and we moved onto The Container store.

Yes the Container Store, we are collectors and I needed some new display cases for my newest stuff I got at the Comic Book Convention. I also picked up a little surprise for my sister:)

After the container store we stopped in and had fish and chips at an Irish pub, well I had something other then Fish and chips, Will is the fish and chip pro.

We made a stop in Toy Tokyo, that was just like toy overload, but I walked away with a few things.

I absolutely love the East Village, its has more smaller shops, interesting places, good bars, its just more my fit. I love St. Marks, it reminds me of The Haight down in San Fran. Don't get me wrong, I love the west village and Soho, especially down on Spring Street, but alot of those places are big bucks. I think its the architecture I adore the most down in Soho, the old Cast Iron buildings that still remain, good stuff.

Check out this church with a Neon Cross?!!?!?!!!

Today we went and saw Coraline, I loved it:) The only problem we find is that those darn 3-D glasses is that they tend to make you sleepy. I guess because everything is so dimmer and your eyes get tired, I don't know. Other then the extra 4.50 3-D glass fee, the extremely noisy people to the right of us, and the slight falling asleep, I thought it was just an awesome movie!!!
Oh and I came across the oddest candy, they look like vampire dentures and their gummies, I just had to buy some even though I didnt like the way they tasted.

There is my weekend re-cap for now. I have things to do, places to go, people to meet....................................well not really!

Oh its that time again to share a secret celeb crush. SurvivorMan:) lol

Happy Valentine's day.

Happy Valentines day!!!! We are catching a 10:15 am train, off to the city to see the Handmade Nation Premiere and then we are making a special stop at the Container Store. I am not a huge fan of that place, to much stuff, but I urgently need some sort of storage for all of my items I bought at the Comic Con. I hope all of you have a wonderful day, eat lots of chocolate, watch some movies, relax. Whatever it is your doing, make it a good one!! I will be back later with hopefully an update of how the day went:)

Be sure to put that in your "Queue" and watch it:)

When me and Will were walking in the city this past weekend, we overheard someone saying "I totally put that one in my queue" or something along those lines. It was just funny, because I remember when Netflix just started and now its like the main source of people's moving viewing. Hmphhhhhhhh.

Anyway, what I'm trying to get as is this fine documentary. Now you see, me and Netflix can be a not so good mixture. I wind up loading my "Queue" up with tons of films which eventually all get pushed to the bottom of the list and never get seen. So finally, I have allowed my list to work its way through, not adding any new ones, and this this find gem was next in line.

At first I thought I was ordering a film about this guy. This is a whole other story within itself and if you would like to watch a film about him, I recommend this movie. Interesting stuff.

OK now I'm going off subject. Well the movie wasn't about him but it was about this family that plays Christian Music, and were not talking about Celine Dion sort of Christian music, we are talking about Indie Christian music. Really refreshing interesting stuff. I am not religious myself, but I don't need to agree with someone's personal stance on anything to appreciate and enjoy their art.

Another cool thing about this family is their friends with Sufjan Stevens, another great Christian music Indie singer( huge fan of his music as well). He is also in the film and becomes a temporary band member while they go on tour.
So as you can see this is an all around must put in the "Queue" for all of you out there who enjoy a good music, artistic documentary.

Just a heads up:)

Whats up with him?

I used to love Joaquin, I still kind of do. BUT what the hell is this all about? We just got finished watching good ole Dave, and was surprised to hear that Joaquin would be on tonight. Well if you havent heard by now, he has quit the movie business and is a self proclaimed(horrible) hip hop artist(lol) You have to watch this clip, I dug it up on Youtube for your viewing pleasure. Check out that ungroomed beard and knotted up hair. I couldnt help but laugh, wonder, shake my head, you get the deal.

A fresh pair of Verses.

Here in NY its sunny and warm, warm as spring time. Makes one wind up buying a fresh pair of white Verses, I just had to:) Watch it snow next week, confusing!

So I wouldn't keep a secret and I told my boyfriend I bought us tickets to see Peter Bjorn and John with Chairlift opening for them. Its a Valentine's day present, and I benefit from it to:)I was trying to land Modest Mouse tickets, but the prices went through the roof as soon as they sold out through the Ticketmaster. So they will have to wait.

This Saturday I have the Handmade Nation Premiere at the Museum of Design over in Columbus Circle, cant wait.

New banner and new interview up over at The Little Red Suitcase. Its all about The brown pen. Good stuff.

Me and my coffee:)

Well I have off today:) Oh what a feeling. I can finally just enjoy a cup of coffee on a weekday and not have to worry about catching a train!

This made me smile today, I was so happy that she liked my little stitched apron. It was the first time I really stitched anything, so it was a bit rough around the edges. But that is its charm, right?

Prompt #11
is now up at The Creative Type and this was my last time posting a prompt over on that blog. The Creative Type will still keep on going, just not by me! So be sure to hop on over there and see whats going on.

Well I think thats about it for now.

I will be back later:)

Home

Made the trip back home, heavy with bags, and tired from lack of sleep in creepy hotel. We were sleeping this morning and someone just unlocked the door and walked into our room......................probably the maid. Geez. I sure as heck didn't leave a very good comment card! I am just trying to catch up on some things today, emails, blogs, pictures, etc. Its really like a spring day today, and I am not quite sure that I am ready for it. I'm just not in that mind set just yet. I wanted to share with you an image of the wonderful things I received from the Year of Color swap. My partner was Julie, and she put together such a wonderful package. I especially loved the apron she made, very fun:) It was all packaged in some pattern paper, really special.

Now to share a few pictures from the con. My favorite item I purchased this weekend. Its a figure designed from Kathie Olivas artwork and put out by Kid Robot. Love it.

Next is a view of all the other goodies I got, thank you boyfriend:) and some a bought myself. Lots of Re-Ment and other designer toys.

Yes we are a house that collects toys!

The brilliant Chalk artist was back again this year. His drawings leave you in awe.

Pictures of Sean Patrick Flanery, NOT so flattering ones, lol.

Looks like he has been sucking on lemons. Man did he age!

And Will hanging with his homeboys...........

Time for a new interview over at the little red suitcase!!

AND I have forgotten to mention that my friend Cynthia's blog magazine has another issue out, so please go visit her site, its a good one:)

Weekend update.

So, I am staying in a hotel straight out of "The Shining" seriously! Its quite creepy, but at the same time comfortable, now only if the tv would work. We just got back from the Con(The NYC Comic Book Convention that is) Its was fun and I bought tons of stuff, alot of designer toys, very cool. I also met Sean Patrick Flanery, I am a huge fan of "Boondock Saints" and a fan of his, I actually had butterflies in my stomach:)
He is one of my crushes, poor Will. I got me an autographed
poster from both Sean and Troy Duffy(The director of Boondock Saints) and I got to actually shake Sean's hand, AND he blinked at me, sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Hahaha. Well we are getting ready to watch some of The Office on my laptop, gonna be good.

Aside from all this exciting stuff going on, today came with a bit of sad news. My uncle passed away, he was 93 and he lived a very long life, but its still a very sad event. He was truly loved and I will miss him. I think I feel the worse for my aunt who was very attached to him and now will have to live her days without him. Its just hard to comprehend when these things happen. Tomorrow I head home and relax and think about things. I have been working for two families, but one family laid me off, nothing to do with me, just this screwed up economy, I totally understand. Now I will be working three days a week, so I have to start thinking up a plan B and decide what I want to do. I am very lucky to have such great people to work for, so all is not lost:)

Loving my Joy Division as always....................................

Night Night my friends!!!

Thursday, February 5, 2009

Hello Thursday.

So, yesterday I received my swap package from my "Year of Color" swap partner. I have yet to take pictures, haven't had the time, but wow! It was just jammed packed full of colorful, vintage goodness. So thank you Julie if you happen to be reading this, and if you are visiting from "The year of color" blog, I will be posting pictures of the package later today:) So check back and see. This weekend is just gonna be hectic, I will be attending the 2009 NYC Comic Con at Jacob Javitz Center as Will's sidekick for his website. Just found out that Sean Patrick will be there(He was In Powder and my all time favorite Boondock Saints, among many others) A little excited about that. But I do have to say, that I have fun. There are alot of characters walking around that convention, lots of cool people to meet, and a lots of designers toys a movies, books, and whatever else is in the comic book world! We also get a hotel for 2 nights in the city, makes it easier and almost seem like a vacation. So that's what I will be up to this weekend, so I will be away from the computer for a few days.

Ok, well I just posted a new Craft Tutorial up at The Little Red Suitcase. Its an altered book project and Christina Clouse has put it together for you. She is such a wonderful artist!! So please be sure to head on over there and give it a go!

Not a thing to say.

My doodle has taken a life of its own!

This is what I did today.

I day dreamed of Summer, probably because it was so mild out. I was thinking about the beach, swimming in the salt water, summer nights, get togethers, all of the things that come with Summer. It was just a cruel joke........... tomorrow snow. Not that I don't like I snow, I do, but sometimes do crave that feel of Summer. I don't like Summer in the city though, hot subways, sweaty people, no breeze, you get the deal. But then again there is something about NYC Summer days.

I have had the urge to needlepoint. I just see all these really cool things in my mind that I can re-create on fabric. Like painting and drawing with a needle. So of course I ordered tons of DMC floss and some solid fabric to create on. I will see where it takes me. This is something I worked on today, I like the way it eases my mind and keeps me busy. Its just a design I drew on to a pale blue fabric which then I stitched over in a green color.

Time to watch a little freeks and geeks and update my Netflix and just plain out lounge.

Some sharing!

Last night after a very hectic day, I sat down and relaxed a bit, watched some movies and finished putting together a few last minute Valentine surprises.

This little stitched apron is for a certain swap partner.

I hope she likes it, I am not a pro stitcher, but I think it came out pretty cute:)
So after seeing this post over on Heidi's blog, I fell in love with those Re-ment mushroom pieces. So upon further research and ebay hunting, I purchased myself a small sushi set. Oh, how cute are these pieces???

If you dont already know, I collect smurfs..........................so when I saw this stuff, I knew that I had to start owning some of this as well. Yes, we are toy collectors here in this house.

Look at that tea cup!!! It even has a tea bag in it. I just couldn't help myself. IF you only knew the stuff my boyfriend has. Every time I try to take a picture, there is always some sort of action figure or poster in the background, not to mention his vintage Pee Wee Herman doll.

AND then we are heading off to the NYC Comic Con next weekend, I am sure there will be some new stuff to come.
BUT for now, I took a picture of part of my smurf collection to share:)

The two end plush smurfs were given to me by Will for Christmas. They are vintage, he also got me a pillow that someone must have sewn back in the 80ties. How can you not love the smurfs??
Now on to other non toy related things.............................

A cute pair of strawberry slippers that I found!

Me yesterday, and my hair is still a lovely(not) orange color. That will all be fixed today. Note to self: Never decide to dye my hair dark ever again!

Ive been loving this blog, this one, this one,
and this very interesting one.

OH, I just love this version of Brittany Spear's "Womanizer" by Lily Allen.

And I think thats about it, FOR NOW:)
