He's Here!!

On March 12th, at 11:21 am, our little Drake made his entrance weighing in at 8 lbs and 19 1/2 inches.  It was the most amazing experience for both Cody and I! We are so happy he is finally here!  It only took 31 hours of labor (19 hours in the hospital), pitocin, possible C-section, an amnioinfusion, 2 hours of pushing and forceps to get him here, but I would do it all again, even without the epidural (maybe).
He is such an amazing little boy. I never knew how much I could love my baby, but I'm overwhelmed by him.  We are having some difficulty getting him on a good sleeping schedule, but hopefully he soon learns that nights are for sleeping!  We love our little guy and Cody can't wait to take him hunting...in a few years.  (More pictures to come...)

Christmas and New Years

First...Christmas. For some reason this year, I was not way into Christmas. I felt really "blah" about it, which is sad since it is Cody and I's last Christmas "alone." I think this was because both Cody and I worked on Christmas Eve and Christmas. The hospital is a depressing place to be on such happy days... However, we made it through, and still got to see our families...at least for short periods of time.
On Christmas Eve, we went to my Grandma Ridge's right after work for soup, monkey bread, and gifts as is tradition. It was nice to see my awesome Grandma...the money she gave us was also nice!
Then we headed to the Finch party. It is always a huge party with tons of people, but it is a lot of fun! We opened more gifts, and even the baby got one (thanks Lana)!
After the parties, we went home. It was kind of depressing. It was great to be with Cody, but this is the first year ever that I have not listened to my Dad read the Christmas story in the Bible and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. Sad...
After our own little Christmas morning at home, we headed to my parent's house (I'm still amazed we made it) and opened all the gifts from Santa with my niece and nephews. They are hilarious; I forget how awesome the belief in Santa is! Plus, my parents got us food storage, which was going to be one of my goals for 2009 (thanks!).
Then off to work...where I got to be yelled at by a patient's drunk son. That was great...it really put me in the Christmas spirit...
And finally, one more Finch party! It was a lot of fun to sit around the table and tell/listen to stories!
It was a pretty good Christmas, that came and went too fast!

As for New Years, we are boring. We went to dinner, came home, and went to bed at 10:30! We sure know how to ring in the new year. However, we are both soooooo excited for what 2009 will bring. We are so anxious to meet our son, and learn how to be parents. I'm sure I will be much more in the Christmas spirit when I have a little one to share it with!

Thanksgiving

This post is a little late, but oh well. We had two great Thanksgivings this year. First, we went to Cody's grandparent's house in American Fork. It was nice to see his parents who live in Moab and his other family that we don't see too often. The dinner was amazing-especially the stuffing balls (who knew stuffing could be so fun). Sadly, all I added to the dinner was a green salad. This is because Cody called his Grandma (the sweetest woman ever) a week before Thanksgiving to ask what we could bring. The conversation went something like this...
Cody: "We can bring a pie."
Grandma: "Oh, does Molly make pies?"
Cody: "No, Molly buys pie."
after a pause...
Grandma: "Oh, well, why don't you bring a green salad."
Well, I may not be domestic, but it was a damn good green salad...
It was a great dinner though and awesome to see everyone.

After that, we went to my parent's house to have dinner with my immediate family. My mom made a great dinner- I wish I could've eaten more (I should've paced myself a little better.) But, as always, it was good food and hilarious dinner conversation (Mr. Thermopolus). We couldn't stay too long after dinner and we didn't even have pie; between the huge amounts of food, the growing kid in my stomach and asthma/allergies, I could hardly breathe. I was sad to leave early, but I'm grateful for the time we did spend there.

All in all, it was great Thanksgiving! Thanks everyone. Sorry there aren't pictures...

One more important update...

So, for those of you who don't know, we are expecting a baby BOY!! He is due March 10th. We have been waiting for quite a while to have a baby, and we couldn't be more excited! Cody is excited that he is going to have a little hunting buddy, and I can't wait to be a mom. We have started shopping and it is a little overwhelming; I'm open for any suggestions or recommendations!! Here are the ultrasounds from 20 weeks. Isn't he cute...

Sorry...

So I really suck at blogging. I'm sorry. I promise to try to do better from now on!! So here are some updates and pictures!! First of all, my sister Megan got married on September 12th. She married a great guy named JD; he is so good to her and he fits really well into our family. She designed the whole wedding herself, and did all of the flowers. It was absolutely gorgeous; I can't believe how talented she is!!

Megan and JD had a beautiful wedding and they are super happy together!!

Continuing on with the updates...waterfowl hunting season has started. I am happy that Cody has such great hobbies and that he exceeds at all of them, but I sure hate hunting season sometimes! Mostly just because I miss him when he goes on long trips. He usually goes to Canada for a couple weeks every year, but he is not going this year, which he is kind of bummed about (I'm not that bummed). I sound like a really mean wife, but I'm not. I don't really care that he hunts, I just miss him. Hopefully he has a great season...around here!

We Finally Have a Blog

Well, I decided it was finally time to make a blog for my little family. Cody and I don't have the most interesting life, and it's just us right now, so I thought it might be a little boring. But, I finally decided what the heck, we might eventually have something interesting to blog about.

So, a little background on what we have been up to. I currently work as an RN at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center on the Renal/Telemetry floor. I absolutely love my job, the people I work with and all my sweet patients. I have been an RN for a little over a year. Cody also works at the hospital as a Psych Tech on Inpatient Psych. It is a new job but he loves it. He is still the State Chairman for Ducks Unlimited and this is his passion- he spends a lot of volunteer hours working for the organization.

We are very happy with our simple life and hope to add a little something else to it soon!!
