So I have been working out at a garage gym for about a year and with the trainer for about 7 months and my trainer(Greg Nielsen) is moving. He got a job in SLC. This bothers me immensely that he didn't call and ask if it was OK with me. Anyway, I guess he loves his family and all that so the job and move are a good thing. This means I have to find a new gym. What to do???
I started my running today-ran 1 mile, walked a mile and it was SSSSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWWW.

An Uncomfortably Funny Story
On Monday night for family home evening (which according to our children we never have) we decided to go up to Willard Peak to have a Hot Dog Roast. We grabbed some 32 oz sodas and a package of frozen hot dogs and off we went. It is incredibly beautiful up there. We were going to go to the top but the road gets really bad so we turned around and decided to go to Camp Mantua.
Earlier in the summer Britton went up there for his Aaronic Priesthood camp. One of the activities that they did was write their testimonies on brass plates. Then they put them all together and buried them on the mountain.
Britt found where they were buried and read us his testimony. He is a great kid and I love him. It was awesome to have him read his testimony to us.
It is now time for dinner and Robbie gets this huge fire started. By the way the boxes in the fire are not from my sodas, they were the coaches. I am off the hard stuff now and only drinking Dr Pepper :). He gets it roaring so that we will have some really good coals for the hot dogs and smores. Nothing better than a fire roasted hot dog. I have my dog just where I want it and the fire starts popping.
A piece of flaming hot wood pops out of the fire and jumps right down my shirt. I get up screaming because it is burning my boob. I have a hot dog stick in one hand the I don't want to drop because it has the most perfect dog on it, the other hand is ripping up my shirt to get the coal off my burning skin and all this time I am screaming for the boys to cover their eyes because I am whipping out my chest to get the coal out. I tried to turn my back cause really who wants to see their moms breasts. Finally the coal comes out and I have a quarter size burn on my chest that is now blistering.
Of course being Gunters we have downed our sodas and not one of them has a piece of ice in it to sooth my burning bosom. I'm a thinker and remember that I have a pack of frozen hot dogs. It is the only thing that is going to help so I stuff a frozen wiener down my shirt to help soothe the blistering skin on my chest. I am not going add all the jokes that were then told about wieners and boobs but I'm not going to lie it was inappropriately funny!!. Soon after that I had my stick in the fire burning the marshmallows off and somehow fling my legs back and jab the poker into my foot. Yep burned my foot but good. I screamed a lot about this as well. Really you would think that I had never been around fire in my life!!
It has been 4 days and the blisters have popped and the burn is healing. Going to have a scar though. Really who does this kind of stuff happen to??

My kitchen
Here are my before and after photos of my kitchen. The before was totally 1984.
It was golden oak cabinets and they were fairly well made so no need to replace them yet and I nearly had a hernia when I was looking to replace. EXPENSIVE!!!The laminate counter top was just a really ugly old color and the back splash was just as ugly.
So I painted the cabinets top and bottoms. They look white but they are a creamier color. I wanted to antique them but when I got the glaze on one, it looked like some really bad 70's kitchen.
So I opted to just keep them a solid color. I really like them. I redid the back splash in bead board and then painted them black. I LOVE them. I also ripped the old lighting down. I still have a couple of lights to replace but for now they are OK.
I also replaced the laminate all by myself. It was not as hard as I thought it would be. I told Robbie not to worry about me ripping the laminate off because I could fix it. I told him I had watched a ton of you tube videos on how to replace it. At this point Robbie is just beside himself. He has no idea that when he married me I would rip his houses apart. I actually think I did a really good job. I am totally bragging here. It was a little scary at first but when it started sticking like it was suppose to it went pretty fast. My quick tip- some of my corners didn't get as tight as I wanted so I put a little super glue in and clamped them down and wallah-stuck laminate. Also Thanks Dad for the Laminate cutter. It worked like a gem and It is a fun new tool.
I really wanted to make this look like a piece of furniture so I dropped the cabinets about 6 inches from the ceiling. I still have molding to put on top.
I am eventually going to replace the tile floor and so when that gets done I will put some furniture feet on it

Dad's Retirement Party
So my dad has been a teacher at Highland High School in Pocatello for the last 36 years and he is retiring. He has done so many things at that school. He taught mechanical and architectural drafting, graphic design, some other computer classes. He was the first teacher in Pocatello to have a computer in his class room. He was the first teacher to have the Internet and at that time it was connected to a huge satellite dish on the roof that constantly needed fixing. He taught the other teachers how to be computer literate. Back in the day there were no computers. He also taught drivers ed in the summer and was my driving teacher. He is an incredibly good teacher and great father. Love him!!!
| I got an edible photo of my dad made and then put it on his cake. This is my dad in the 70's. What a stud. |
Maren, my mom and me decided to have it at Maddox Restaurant.
Maren did all of the decorations and the main gift. She had blueprints on the table and drafting tools all around and then we did pictures and articles of my dad in some stands. We decided my dad doesn't age. You can only tell the year of the photo by the ties he wears. It turned out so nice. Maren did an awesome job with all the decorations and the banner

My mom told my dad that we they were coming to BC to watch one of Malia's soccer games and because his birthday was two days earlier they were going to go out to eat at Maddox. All of his kids(except McKay,Jessica, and Sharon who were all back east at the time) were in this room. We had it set up and then the servers were bringing dad and mom in. We are loud. It is what it is. So my dad turns the corner and he isn't really looking at any of us and you can see the look on his face that says "there is no way I am eating in this little room with all of these noisy people." I am not going to lie, he looked a little grumpy. Then we all yelled surprise.
It took him a little while to realize it was for him and he was really surprised. By the way he is not a big surprise kind of guy. It was so much fun to see his reaction to all of us. We had a great meal and a great time. After lunch we went back to my house and had cake and ice cream. All the little kids stayed at our house during the lunch. We came back later for dessert with everyone.
Maren put together this awesome retirement basket. Funny things to get him by now that he is not going to be working. Everybody then put there gifts into it. He got PJs, a no work button, lots of treats, and knife from Braiden, gift cards, a kindle from mom and cards.
I have an awesome family and love them. This was a lot of fun
