Oh Christmas tree...

We had such a great Holiday season!! Grandma and Grandpa came in from Utah to be with us and we were spoiled rotten--Daddy got 2 weeks off of work and all we did was PLAY, PLAY, PLAY!! Why can't it be Christmas everyday?!

Every year, Santa comes to our house and checks in with the girls on Christmas Eve to get a naughty-or-nice report and brings them a little gift to open. Just prior to his visit, Maddy and Ellie were twirling all around the room just as joyfully as could be and then... Santa enters through the front door--It was classic!! Maddy went from laughing and singing happily to shrieking hysterically in a matter of mere seconds--hence the snotty nose and crazy hair! (We have it all on video.) But she eventually warmed up when Santa pulled out his big red sack and started pulling out presents :)

The top picture of Ellie was how her face looked the entirety of present opening. She was so excited that Santa brought her everything on her list. The trampoline was a fun family gift and we were all so excited that it didn't fall off Santa's sleigh (i.e. that it got there in time!!) For dinner, we decided to throw out the traditional ham and turkey (who really likes that stuff anyways right?!) and opted for the most delicious prime rib EVER!! YUMMY!!

Some other holiday highlights included getting invited to see "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" at the Old Globe Theater with Mark's company again--complete with a meet and greet with the Grinch himself and a delicious "Who-ville Feast", getting to see Ellie's preschool holiday program, going to Sea World twice (by the way, the Shamu holiday night show was amazing!! they had a sax player, guitar player and a choir perform all during the whale show which was set to classical Christmas music (Silent Night, etc...) and then at the end they had the entire audience stand up and join in singing "Joy to the World!"). We participated in pulling (and receiving) holiday neighborhood pranks (who mounted our polar bears--AGAIN?!), decorating our traditional gingerbread house, talking to family on the phone, going to Coronado Island for lunch and walking along the beach. We enjoyed visiting Point Loma and watching the sunset over the ocean, driving around to see ALL the Christmas lights in San Diego, hanging out with good friends, attending numerous parties, going to the movies, golfing 3 (or was it 4?!) times for Mark, eating out, shopping for Alicia, going on a 3 hour dinner/dance cruise aboard the Hornblower, playing games (Have you played Blokus yet?!), eating more yummy food, and just hanging out.

We hope your Christmas was merry and bright...
Until next year...

Santa's Village

The other night we were able to go to Santa's Village and visit with Mr. and Mrs. Clause. The girls had such a blast! This guy in our area (stake) opens up his home to the community every December for a few weeks and his whole entire place is just DECKED TO THE HILT with Christmas decorations. The kids all wait in line to visit with Santa and Mrs. Clause and get to visit with him on his sleigh and then after receiving a candy cane, they get to choose one gift out of 20 different baskets. Everything is free--toys, hot chocolate, cookies, apple cider--and then he has his whole house and yard decorated too. This is our second year visiting Santa's Village, and for us, a fun family tradition.

I was so proud of Maddy for not screaming this year! (I guess it helps that this is the 5th visit with Santa this year!)

We're dreaming of a WET Christmas!!

Southern Cali has been getting TONS of rain the last couple of days, so what better thing is there to do for these two little Californians but to run and get on their rain gear and go out and play in it. (I went inside after about 10 minutes, but couldn't coax these two back in, so I stood at the window and snapped these darling pics of the girls having a grand ole time puddle jumping!)

Christmas Celebrations are in full swing here!!

We have recovered 100% around here and have been making up for lost time like no body's business! We have been VERY busy Christmas shopping, party and concert going, and Christmas light-seeking. Hope everyone is doing well and having a blast too!!

When the cat's away, the mice will play...

You can tell Mark is out of town, when...

1--I stay awake all night playing on the computer--(check for all my back-dated posts--I added a TON!)
2--we have eggs and toast for dinner
3--I sleep with my cell phone, car keys and a knife under my pillow
4--I watch a chick flick that I have been dying to see
5--we are all crying buckets all day long...because...

We miss you daddy :)

There were two in the bed and the little ones said....

GET UP!!! WE'RE BORED!!!!
yes, Mark and I were both sick all last week and the kids got the whole run of the house--COMPLETE CHAOS!! Luckily, we are now getting much better, but still trying to make up for that lost week. But thank you for all the calls and well wishes and for the yummy dinners :) I tell you it's not fun to be sick is it??
