Saraisms

Sara has come up with a couple of good ones that I don't want to forget anytime soon.

On Sunday she insisted on wearing an apron to church...All three hours (even Nursery!)! She refused to answer to Sara but would respond to "Mom". She called everyone "Sweetie", including the Nursery Leaders.

On that same Sunday she was being a little bit of a pill (imagine that!) as we were walking out the door. I looked at her and said, "Sara! You just might not live to see tomorrow!". At that point she started crying, "But I want to see tomorrow! Please mom! Can I please see tomorrow?"

At Anna's ballet the other day Sara built a birthday cake out of cushions. She put it in the oven, waited a little bit and then pulled it out. She then proceeded to put candles on top and and then, as she put it, put fire on it. She waited patiently for Anna to get out of class and then insisted that she blow the candles out. Anna didn't quite understand what was going on, so she tried to leave. Sara started to throw a fit so I asked Anna to go and pretend to blow out the candles. She looked at me, rolled her eyes, walked over, blew out the candles, looked back at me and said, "Can we go now?". Sara, content that Anna blew them out yelled "Happy Birthday Anna!" and went and got into the car.

If you call her pretty or anything other than Sara she will correct you and insist that she is Sara. Rob has made her cry on more than one occasion for calling her sweet or something similar.

Oh, my sweet Sara...Never a dull moment!

Picture Day!

School Picture day arrived and Anna was so excited! She insisted on having her hair in ringlets, just like she did when she was a party girl in the Nutcracker. I was quite surprised to hear thsi, since she hates having her hair in sponge rollers. But I was happy to oblige and she didn't complain one bit! She woke up extra early that morning and we started pulling out the curlers. To my surprise and happiness, the curls took. Then we looked outside the window...Pouring rain. Of all the luck! So we sprayed it an extra three or four times with hairspray, gently covered her head with her hood and put her on the bus with the hope that pictures were one of the first things. Here are the before pictures. Isn't she cute! BTW...She did come home that day with the same amount of curl that I sent her out with. Whew! She wanted me to take a picture of her posing as a ballerina.

Sara saw Anna with the curlers and insisted that she get to wear them as well. Hopefully she will let me do it again in a couple of weeks when it is her turn for school pictures! (Belle had to be in the pictures as well!)
My...what beautiful girls I have!

Daddy's Helpers

One of the benefits of growing our own corn is that we get to have cornstalks for fall decor! The girls and Rob went out and harvested it for me. Now I can't wait to get it out on the front porch!

The Joy of Little Girls!

DRAMA! DRAMA! DRAMA! That seems to be the theme at our house lately. The girls are either best friends or worst enemies...It's driving me crazy! But today's drama was worth recording. Sara is on a princess kick and is a different princess everyday. Today she was Ariel. Well, Anna, the cunning little almost six year old that she is, came up with a great way to torment her sister. She started to "eat" all of Sara (aka Ariel's) friends. She started with Flounder. Then Grandpa (being the great helper that he is) encouraged her to eat Sebastian because he is much more tasty. The whole time she is announcing who she is eating in a very big, dramatic voice. Sara is on the floor sobbing because Anna is eating her friends. Seriously?!! How am I supposed to mediate this one? Oh, well. At least their imaginations are in tact!

Ballet!

Ballet started today for both of the girls. It is going to be interesting because they are taking it from two different places and one starts the same time the other ends. Hopefully I can keep up the pace. They were both super excited to start. I know that Anna's eyes are closed in this picture, but I wanted to include it because of Sara. I told the girls to do a ballet pose and this is what Sara came up with. Love that kid. During class, as the teacher was helping her do first position. I overheard Sara say, "It's a little hard!". So cute...'cause it is a hard thing for a three year old to do! Anna did great. She had a great time and was glad to see that some of her friends were in her class again.
The must have silly pose.
I sure love my ballerina girls!

Sunset

As much as I miss the beautiful mountains of Utah, I have to say that we have some of the most amazing sunsets here in Kentucky. I snapped this one the other day. The trees add to the beauty, with their gorgeous silhouette! The world really is a beautiful place!

The Zoo!

Since everyone had the day off from work and school we decided to head to the zoo. It was a perfect day for it, temperature wise. The problem is that everyone else in Kentucky thought so as well. It was so crowded! But we still had fun and enjoyed spending time as a family.
We went through the gorilla house where Anna discovered that her hands are not quite as large as the gorilla's.
Sara discovered this amazing thing called a typewriter. The girls were both fascinated by it, which made me laugh (I took typing in school using a typewriter!).
We also went into a lorry parrot cage where the birds were able to fly around you and possible land on your hands. We did the same thing at the zoo in the Bahamas and loved it. Anna refused to go into the cage. She looked so sad and pitiful!
So, I went to join her and that's when I missed Rob and Sara holding a parrot. Sara was in heaven. Unfortunately, this was the best picture I as able to get.
This picture makes me laugh. They were both on the turtle and Anna fell off right as I took the shot.
Sara found a pig and insisted on sitting on it.
I love when I can get a picture of Sara actually smiling!
We had a great day just spending time together. Well worth battling all of Louisville!

Corn Bread

My husband decided to try and make cornbread today. Not an unusual thing to do, right? Well, Rob, being the person that he is, decided to try and make it a little bit harder than normal. He took the corn that we had grown over the summer that had dried out and turned it into cornmeal. The girls had a great time helping him grind the corn and Rob said that the cornbread was the best he had ever tasted.
The best part for me is that the weather and finally turned cool enough to have soup, so I made chili using most of the stuff from our garden. It is true that the best stuff is home grown!

Loyal, Strong and True Wear the White and Blue

We were so excited for BYU football to start. Even more so since the game was being shown on ESPN and not the MTN!!! The girls woke up and immediately got into their Rah, Go Cougar shirts. In order for me to get a semi-serious picture of them I had to promise that they could do a silly one.
Sara insisted on being a cheese pirate. She kills me!!!
Anna mid cheer!
Her silly pose. She seems to do the same one every time.
And of course Daddy had to get into the spirit as well.

What a great game it was too! They won! GO COUGARS!!!

Craft Day - Mummies!

I saw the cutest idea for Halloween last year and couldn't wait to make them this year. So I invited a couple of friends over, Rob cut the wood for me and we made our Halloween Mummies! They were super easy and super cheap. I know the perfect spot for them...Right in front of the fireplace!
