Pirate Party

Our nephew, Mikey, had his 3rd birthday last week and it was Pirate themed. As soon as Anna found out she started singing the Backyardigans song "Argh! Argh! A pirate says Argh!". All the cousins got Pirate hats, eye patches and swords. They then started off on a treasure hunt, because of course Pirates are only after one thing...Treasure! Here they are all dressed up, ready to go.
Here's Anna in her Pirate getup.
We even got Sara to wear an eye patch, although it didn't stay on for very long!
And here is the treasure...All the kids got to take a couple of whacks and down it went, spilling forth lots of "treasure". It was a great time and Anna still wants to be a Pirate!

Goodbye to a wonderful woman

Rob's grandma passed away last night, on her 84th birthday. She was able to have her birthday wish of being with her husband again. She will be missed but we know that she is happier where she is. We love you Grandma! Take good care of our babies for us!

Snow Canyon

We decided to make a quick trip to St George to visit Rob's grandma. It was so nice to get out of this awful smog and cold (it was 60 degrees while we were there...Fabulous!). On the way home on Monday we stopped at Snow's canyon. Anna was so excited to take pictures of big, red rocks. We loved it because it wore out the girls and they napped the majority of the ride home.
I realized that I don't have many pictures of myself with Sara so I made sure I got one.

Sara is starting to walk. Here she is doing her "wobbly" steps.

We stopped and had a picnic lunch. It was perfect!
My cute family!

Where a kid can be a kid!

It was my nieces birthday today and it was celebrated by going to Chuck-E-Cheese. Bear with me, there are a lot of pictures! Sara loved the cars. I had to post the picture because she is just so dang cute!

My cute girls driving the car.

Anna loves hanging out with Grandpa. She was excited to shoot a gun. I don't know how I feel about that!
Sara loved this ride. I was lucky to get a picture with her smiling. The majority of the time she had a very stoic look on her face.

A basketball competition broke out. Dad started....
...I went next...
....then Kassi. She was winning until Casey tried is hand. He won.
Kassi, Casey and Jayde racing cars.
For some reason Chuck E Cheese decided to butcher a bunch of 80's classics. Seriously, it ruined a lot of the good ones by having Chuck E sing them. But Anna thought they were great and broke into dance with Kassi.
I had to post a picture of the cake. My SIL did it using different cakes and created Horton from "Horton Hears a Who". It was one of the cutest cakes I had ever seen.
Happy Birthday Jayde...We love you!

Mommy's Little Helper

Why is it that as soon as I open the dishwasher, Sara appears? She is infatuated with the thing! I don't understand her fascination with it. Hopefully it doesn't end when she is old enough to actually be helpful.

After she helped me with the dishwasher she helped herself to a bag of marshmallows that she found in the pantry. She is avery busy little girl!

Ice Skating

Our friends had a party at Noahs tonight. They rented the rooftop, which has ice-skating. This was a first time for both Anna and Sara. We quickly learned that it was a lot easier for them to ice skate without the skates and just use their shoes. Once we discovered this the girls had a lot more fun. Sara had a blast. Every time we would get off the ice she would scream until we got back on.

Sara's Birthday Party

We decided to hold Sara's birthday party the day after her birthday. We prepared her by having her take a good nap and then eating a good dinner. Here she is surrounded by her balloons from Grandpa and Grandma Hadfield and Anna.

Anna and I decorated the house with all of these little signs. Here's the front door.

This is what she woke up to. She loved it!
Then the extended family came over and she was able to open her presents. She got a lot of fun things. Thanks everyone!
She especially loved her little car that she got from mom and dad.
I decided to make cupcakes for all the kids. They looked too plain, so I added little "S"s on them.

And here is Sara's cake. I am so proud of this cake. We baked it in a batter pitcher and then Rob carved it for me. I asked for a turtle and he carved a sea turtle. Then I decorated it. I think it turned out pretty good!

Here she is all set to eat it...still clean!
Thinking about going for it....
She liked it! She was all over it!
Here's the final result. The cake was a lot of work, but so worth it for this picture. All in all, I think it went well!

Happy Birthday Sara

I can't believe it has been a year since I was in the delivery room, cursing her name (actually, Rob said that I wasn't cursing her name because we didn't know her name at the time!). Now I can't even imagine my life without her. She has been such a little sweetheart and her smile can light up the room. Happy first birthday sweet Sara! I love you!

My mom brought these balloons to her today. She was so excited. I wish that I could have captured the pure joy that was shown in her face. At one point she accidentally let go of them. She pointed up at them and said "uh, oh". She knew that they were hers!

I have teeth

I think that Sara has been teething for about six months now. She finally had a couple of teeth break through. I can't believe that she is almost one and only has two teeth. I think Anna had all of her teeth by this point. Will the teething never end?

Christmas Dresses

It was always a tradition in my family to get new Sunday clothes. My mom, who is talented in so much, would sew us all new clothes. Kassi and I would usually end up with matching material, but with a different style (this was a good thing considering Kassi is 9 years younger than me!). Anyway, here's an example.

Well, I do not have an ounce of my mom's talent when it comes to sewing, so my girls get store bought dresses. I try and find them in unusual locations so no one else is wearing them. So, here are this years dresses. I couldn't get them to both look at the camera at the same time.

Here is my big girl. She moved into the Sunbeam class today. I was so proud of her. All of the other little kids sat and cried and wouldn't go near their teacher. Anna went and sat down right next to them and told me goodbye. My little independent woman!

Welcome 2009

We celebrated the upcoming year by first going to the movie, Bedtime Stories, with my MIL, Corry, Merf and their kids, Chad, Maren and Jack. It was a very cute movie and Anna was enthralled! I wished that I took a picture of her sitting their with her popcorn and drink. After the movie we headed to the Cloward's to ring in the new year. There was so much food. Maren set up the whole thing and she had learned that a true New Year's Eve party doesn't have a meal, just appetizer so people can munch and mingle. We played Nertz for about an hour and then around the time everyone started playing the Wii, Sara threw up. So, we headed home around 10:00 and put the girls to bed. Rob and I stayed up long enough to watch the ball drop and then we went to bed. I think that we are getting old!
The next morning Anna woke up a little disappointed that she didn't get to wear her crown or make any noise, so we let her do it for about an hour. She took advantage of that opportunity. Thank goodness we all got a nap after that!
