The end of the year dance show this year was bitter sweet. It was Missy's last year dancing and it was hard for me to watch. For 13 years, I have payed for, driven to and watched her dance. For 13 years I have watched her cry, laugh, and improve. For 13 years I have seen her create some of the best friendships she will ever have. I have watched her go from struggling to point her toes, to making it on the top jazz company. I have also watched her come home crying with a body that doesn't want her dancing. I won't miss that part! So, although I know she made the right decision to stop, tears rolled down my cheeks as the curtain closed for the last time, and they are rolling again as I write this! What a great ride, now onto the next one!
Her friend had come to watch her and after the last show, as tears were rolling down my cheeks and I am laughing at myself for crying, he comes up and says, "Mom, do you need a hug!" Then he gave me a big hug. What a great kid!
I am so glad Grandma and Grandpa were able to come to this show! Of course Grandpa thought she should keep dancing... :)
I love all the amazing friends she has met throughout the years!
So proud of this girl and all she has accomplished!
For my fuzzy, it was also an end for her when the curtain came down. She has decided to focus on ballet. I don't know how girls get on the upper companies and have time for jazz, ballet, school, church, family and friends! So, she has chosen ballet and won't perform with jazz companies anymore. These 5 became great friends this year!
This beautiful, and slightly creepy girl has always been my ballerina at heart, but she has gotten so good at the jazz/contemporary as well and even had 2 solos!!!! She doens't think she is very good at the jazz and contemporary side, but I think she is crazy! She is a great dancer! I am so proud of this girl and how she handled herself as president of her jazz company. There were some rough spots with so many girls being together this year, and she chose to be friends with everyone and try, many times, to unify the group. I am so pleased with her dancing, but even more pleased with her character. She is such a great kid and I love her!!!
Although she is slightly creepy!
Love this amazing family of mine!
Wow, that is talent!
Sisterly love!
I sure love these two. They are so very different in about every way, but I love them and thank my Father that He sent them to me.
(Glad that Missy's friends can be Scotty's older brothers too!)
This amazing lady has been my girls' teacher for a several years. She is moving to AZ, and we are so sad to loose her! Not only has she been an amazing teacher, but she has also become a friend.
Passing the time while we take pictures...
End of the year always brings change....
We searched all over for Fuzzy's teacher, Margaret, but never found her. So, this random guy back stage said he would take a picture with us, Hahaha!! OK random guy!
The next day was the ballet show. Missy and I headed over to watch Fuzzy dance her Jester dance, since she wasn't doing that in the show we would see. We got there and they were sold out!!! That's OK, though. We walked in anyway, watched her dance, then walked out. There are perks to being known as a helper at the studio!!!
Fuzzy even got to play Cinderella for about 5 seconds. Cinderella had a VERY fast costume change she couldn't make, so Fuzzy ran across the stage for her in her rags, then "magically" Cinderella came back on stage in her beautiful ball gown! So fun!
Alli did such a great job in the show as a cat, although I kept telling her that cats in Cinderella are bad, she kept telling me that she was a good cat! She loves performing. She had decided to quit dance this year (she really hates tights), but after the show told me she wished she wasn't quitting. I told her she didn't have to quit, so now she is dancing again. We will see where her mind is come fall! I really hate to see her quit because she dances around the house constantly and is getting so much better.
Aren't their kitty costumes the cutest!!!
Love these two beautiful ballerinas!!! I was the stage manager for this show. That was work! It was fun though to be backstage the whole time and watch all the stuff that happens off stage the audience never sees. I love being apart of shows. I love the excitement in the atmosphere. It is such a great thing to be apart of!
Then, again, the last curtain falls down and the goodbyes begin. This girl became one of Fuzzy's closest friends, but she moved the next day to another state.
The tears were falling again!
I sure love this beautiful family of mine.
Now off to Iceburg for some shakes and fries, our post dance recital tradition! Yum!
