Corry's Finger Update

So Corry finished his Viking Neckerchief for Scotty's scout uniform.  It turned out pretty cool (blood and all on it)!

Then he decided to take out his own stitches.
It was a family affair.
He waited for the girls to get home from dance so that they could watch.  What is wrong with my children, that they want to gather around to see stitches come out?????!!!!

Now they are out, just in time for Halloween!  :)

Corry at the InstaCare - Again!

WARNING!!!!  Bloody post!

I forgot to get Corry a puzzle to do during General Conference (we all listen a lot better when our hands are busy).  So he decided to carve a Viking neckerchief for Scotty instead - YES IN MY FAMILY ROOM!!!!!!

Well first session went well.  Second session went well too.  All until the last speaker when the craft knife with break-off blades that he was using broke off... and sliced not one, but two fingers.  We couldn't stop the bleeding, so we took him to the insta-care.  This is after they put a clean dressing on.

There was A LOT of blood.  YUCK - blood is NOT my thing!  There is a reason I did not go into the medical profession!!!

The numbing didn't get everywhere and Corry was in a lot of pain, so they numbed some more before they cleaned the rest out.  But he was a good boy and didn't cry so he could have some ice cream!
See lots of blood!!!!
The doctor's handy work.  One finger with 6 stitches, the other one glued shut.

Corry was, of course, being himself at the insta-care.  Making us all laugh and have a good time.  Who new getting stitches could be so much fun.  Everything is more fun with Corry around!

He only has two fingers left on that hand to cut open...

We even got home in time for Corry to go to Priesthood Session.
Thanks to Corry's parents for rushing over to take Scotty to his soccer game so that I could take Corry.  I love where we live!

Alli's Field Trip to the Equestrian Park

I was able to go with Alli and her class on a field trip to learn about different farm and ranch jobs.  They even had a sheep shearing demonstration!

They had this mechanical pumpkin talking to the kids.  Not sure what Alli thought about that!

It was a great time, all until lunch.  She is such a terrible eater, I fight her most days to get good healthy food in her.  I never make her special meals and after 7 years, she still struggles.  AHHHH!!!  It is so frustrating to me and to her.  She finally ate her lunch so she could play, in about 30 seconds after I had fought her for 30 minutes to eat just a little.  She is so stubborn, but so am I!  ;)  I know I have to be consistent, but it is so hard sometimes.  Her awesome teacher watched the whole thing unfold and it was a very different Alli than the one she sees. (THANK GOODNESS!!!!)  Anyway, I know her happiness level is very much based on nutrition.  When she eats healthy and enough, she is mostly the happiest kid.  It is when she doesn't eat well that she is a lot harder.  So I will stay consistent, but I sure hope she learns and grows out of this stubbornness soon!!!

Wow!

I came home the other night (late) to Missy dressed like this....

In her defense, she was helping Fuzzy figure out what to wear at school the next day for 80's day!  Love my girls!

Quick Trip to the Bahamas

One reason I quit teaching dance was so that I would be more free to go on trips with Corry, because let's face it, I don't see him very much!  It paid off right away!  Last month he came home and asked me if I wanted to go to the Bahamas with him.  I told him I would call his parents and see if they could watch the kids, and if so I could work everything else out.  They said yes, and the next week I was on a plane getting a new stamp in my passport (the first one in my 5 year old passport)!  Satan was working really hard on me before the trip though.  I was stressed out!!!  Mom leaving is a big pain in the behind!  I had thought I had most things worked out when my mom reminded me I had book club at the elementary school - first one of the year!  Then 2 days before I left, Scotty reminded me about his soccer game.  Ahh!  Grandma and Grandpa had told me the only thing they had was a reunion on Saturday they needed to be at - yup, right during Scotty's soccer game.  Thankfully I have the best people around me and a friend volunteered to take Scotty to his game, play with Alli, then drive them both to Provo to their grandparent's house!!!

But, as soon as we pulled out of the driveway, everything was great!!!

We flew all day then went straight to this project of Corry's where he had never seen the final product.  It is a private residential development and is gorgeous!

Then we checked into the hotel, had dinner and walked on the beach!!!  Not that you can tell that is the ocean behind us!

The next day Corry dropped me at Atlantis to check in there, while he went to meetings all day.  I read a book by the pool, walked the beach, checked out the aquariums and really had a most wonderful day of reading!  LOVE IT!!!

He came back and we went to dinner, then to Dunkin to get some donuts for breakfast - they did not have my fav!!!  :(  And they weren't very good!

Then we went to walk around Atlantis and for another walk on the beach

When we got back to our room, our toilet and bathtub were filled with nasty sewer water. EWWWWW!  They moved us to a new room.

The next morning I again sat by the pool reading (Ahhhhhh) while Corry had another meeting.  Luckily this one didn't take the whole day and he got to spend the rest of the day with me!

We spent a few hours riding the new (5 year old) river and slides!  You just stay in your tube and the river takes you to the slide.  AWESOME!!!  It actually was really fun for Corry to see people having so much fun on the things he created.

This fountain was in phase 2 of Atlantis and was Corry's first real solo work.  It is awesome!

One of my favorite parts is looking at all the sea-life.

A Junkanoo costume

This is the best aquarium because of these beautiful Manta rays. I could sit and watch them for hours!

That night it was dinner at the buffet and another walk through the aquariums.

The next morning we checked out and headed to church.  I love church in different places.  I was really surprised with the "support Romney" comments in Relief Society.  Did not see that one coming!  The best part about church was the visit we had after with a new convert.  He grew up on the island in a white Mennonite community. When they wouldn't let him date the white girls, he decided to leave the community and search for another church.  He couldn't believe the loudness of other churches, but when he found The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he finally found a place where he could feel the still small voice again, and date white girls!  It took him awhile to join, he wanted to be certain.  He has now been a member for 2 months.  Cool story!

After church, we found a place to eat...
Kinda glad I ordered something else.  Don't know if I could have eaten this!

Corry loved it and thought it was delicious!  After lunch we headed back to the first hotel where we checked in and Corry had meetings with his next group. I went to dinner with them and then quietly excused myself to do something else - like read my books!  Love all this reading time I got to have!

The next day, Corry had meetings, I hung by the pool, then we checked out and headed home.  Fabulous trip, although I wasn't quite ready to come home yet (although I read books 2 and 3 of a series and hadn't brought the last two, so I spent the next three days reading some more at home)!

Scotty's Sprain

Scotty is also taking tumbling this year.  He loves it!  But, the other day he went off the spring board and landed all wrong.  We were concerned that it was bad because this kid is so tough, nothing gets to him.  He wouldn't put any weight on that foot.  We did find out it was only a sprain, and within a few days he was running around like crazy again!

Scotty's Soccer - The Green Machine

It has been really fun to watch Scotty play soccer this year.  He has turned into a great defender.  There are very few balls that get past Scotty when he is defending.  It makes the keeper have a very boring game!  Scotty really thinks out on the field.  He also just keeps going which means he is exhausted after games.  I love to see him give everything he has to the game!

Scotty gets his Bear

Scotty has really enjoyed Scouts.  I have enjoyed it for the most part too, I just don't always get it.  Like the Bear book.  It is not like it isn't written well, I just didn't read it right.  I thought Scotty had to do ALL the things listed.  I was a little overwhelmed with how we would accomplish that.  When I figured out that he only had to do a few things in each area, I realized we were only 1 away from getting his award!  WHEWWW!!!!  Anyway, he earned it back in August, but Corry was out of town, so we waited until September's meeting for him to get it.  I am so proud of my boy and all that he is becoming.  Love this kid!

That was a good one buddy!

Football Games

We love going to Cougar Football Games!!!  We kinda decided last minute to go to the Weber State Football Game.  Glad we did since right after that we found out that all our tickets were only good for one more game! Boo on Cosmo's Kid's Club this year for that!

Oh well! We had a great time at the game, although it was a warm day and we looked into the sun all day!  Because you can't bring your own food into the stadium anymore, the kids spent half the game under the bleachers filling up water bottles.... along with every other Cougar Fan at the game too!  It would often take them 30 minutes to wait in the line for a drink!

Corry and I had a great time watching the game.  I sure love BYU football!
