I was pretty lame for St. Patrick's day this year. I wanted to make green breakfast and send the kids to school with green lunches, but Corry and I had to go pick my car up from the shop and I didn't get around to it. Then we were going to have green dinner the next day, but it was the night before we left on our cruise and life just got away from us. So this year our green dinner consisted of green twice baked potatoes and nothing else special... Except lucky charms instead of popcorn while we watched Wipeout. There is always next year! Luckily the kids were very understanding and there was no whining about it. I love those guys!

Why I will Never Live in American Fork

'nuff said.
OK, here is the whole story. Every road I drive on that leads to AF coming from Highland, Lehi or PG, the speed limit decreases 10 mph when you enter AF. LAME!!! Anyway, I got a ticket a few months ago at one such spot where the cops just hang out to get you when the speed drops. Again, LAME!
So a few weeks ago I was driving Corry's car, I was again on one of those roads, going down hill, being very careful to not speed, but going about 2-3 over as I tried to break down the hill, when the lights came on and the cop pulled me over again!!!! I was so upset! He came up to the window and asked me if I knew I had expired tags.
At this point I start laughing. Let me back up the story 2 days. Corry told me, "I should really put my registration stickers on my car." My response was, "I am not driving your car until you do."
Let me back up the story about 8 years now. I was driving Corry's old Grandma car, which I had not driven any other time that whole year, when I got pulled over for expired tags. It was 11 months past when they should have been put on!!! Corry had driven the car for 11 months without getting pulled over, I drive it once and get pulled over!!! (FYI, he had just lost the stickers, we had it registered.)
OK, back to the cop pulling me over and I start laughing, tell him the story, he laughs and puts the stickers on the plate for me!
Classic Skate Night
Twice a year our PTA pays for a school Classic Skate night. Most of the time we haven't been able to go. I think this was only the 2nd one we have ever gone to since 2002 when Missy started school! We had a great time there. My favorite part was when Scotty asked me to skate with him on the boys choice. (It was really only because I like to skate fast and will pull him with me, but I will take it!)
Craft Day
This month's craft project was making these ribbon egg and shamrocks. I loved them so much I want to make them for all the holidays. I think I will just do a flag for the summer months. That should cover all of it! I will keep you posted of the other ones I make!
I found this great idea here.
I don't know if everyone will read the comments or not so I thought I would add to the post and put it here. Cheri asked me how long it took. I spent FOREVER on the shamrock, partially because it was a tougher shape and partly because I kept wanting it to be perfect (that didn't happen!). It probably took me 1.5-2 hours to finish that one, mostly because of choosing ribbon. When I got to the egg, I picked out a bunch of spring colors from my ribbon box (OK the truth is boxes). I cut a strip, put it down, pulled the next ribbon, cut it, put it down and so forth. I didn't try to match it up, I just put it wherever and it turned out great in about 20 minutes start to finish. ( I think some of that time was even spent waiting for the iron and sewing machine.)
I forgot to add the different things we did from the blogger that posted the idea:
- Sarah thought of a great idea. We cut the shape out of the interfacing. Our material for the top was not very thick, so we thought it would show through too much if we didn't cut it off.
- After we ironed the ribbons onto the interfacing (and pinned most of the rick rack because it wouldn't stick) we cut the access ribbon off around the edges then pinned the shape to white felt. After that we stitched our straight lines. Putting it on felt for a backing gave it a little more texture and quilt like look.
- We made our patterns, traced them onto our interfacing and then cut the pattern down about 1/4-1/2 inch around. Then we traced the now smaller pattern onto our top fabric. This made it so we could stitch around the outside and not miss the ribbon shape. I missed a lot of places on my egg because I didn't use the smaller pattern.

Grandma's 91st B-day
Alli jut loves Grandma. She found her first thing and gave her a hug. I missed the picture, so I asked her to go do it again. What a battle after that... but I got my picture, even with a happy face!
I made Grandma a beach scene on the cupcakes. The Beach she loved to take us to has these three huge rocks we liked to play in. Those are represented my Oreos. I think she liked the Oreos the best, but it was still fun to make it all for her!
Then we made cupcakes for the rest of the family and the other residents at her care center.
The family came, but then she leaded over and told me "I won't cry if you all leave!" Gotta love it!
Gotta love a random day off of school!
I flipped my pictures like normal in iphoto before I imported them to blogger. I am way bummed they flipped bag. These are all on the new camera though. Anyone know why that would happen and how to fix it?
Anyway, we spent the morning at Trafalga:
Rock Climbing -
Hanging with friends-
Riding the rides -
and miniature golfing -
I love days off of school! :)
The Nephews Return
We love going to Liz and Cecil's! And what a better occasion than a double homecoming. I was so impressed with the boys talks, their maturity, testimony and love. What great role models for the rest of the family!
There was plenty of food and fun to be had after
Then it was off to visit Grandma J - who had just had a baby before we got there and was keeping herself covered to avoid the germs and we should go to the nursery to see it. Love sweet grandma!
Then we were off to Aimee and Bill's and Sue and Ron's - nothing like a surprise visit on a Sunday night for 4 hours! We sure need to get to Gunnison more. We love being with those guys. Aimee and Bill are so much the same as we are when it comes to raising our children. I just love to be with them!

New Camera
When we got our new nice camera, it was because our old one died and it was going to cost about $120 to fix it. So we opted to buy a new one instead. But over the past year, there have been times we wished we had a little one. Going on this cruise we decided we didn't want to take the big one on certain excursions, so it was time to get a small one again. We found this one that is also waterproof so we can take underwater pictures too! I am so excited and hope they turn out well!!!!
Disney on Ice
For Alli's Birthday we got her tickets to Disney on Ice. A special night out just for Alli, her parents and grandparents. Then Grandpa was in the hospital and Corry had some ice cubes in Mexico that did a number on his insides. So, Corry came sick, and Scotty and Fuzzy took Grandma and Grandpa's spot.
Alli wanted her hair all curled, her Cinderella pjs and her princess crown.
Waiting for it to start - we were a little early so we walked around the concourse a few times then Scotty and Fuzzy chipped in their own money to help buy Alli some cotton candy.
Can you tell how good he feels! What a good dad for going anyway!
Scotty got the Mickey ears off the top of the cotton candy
The show was great - of course! We loved all the characters, but one of the best parts was the bagpipe player after the show decked out in his Scottish gear playing Disney music! Awesome!

I'll Play - 15 on 15 in 15
- I can't wait to leave on my cruise in a few days
- I am crazy and planned a craft day at my house for tomorrow when I am leaving for a cruise in a few days!!!
- I made yummy cupcakes for my grandma's birthday party and there are way too many left over and I like them way too much! You use a cake mix and add a can of soda to it instead of the wet ingredients! Yummy! My favorite is yellow cake with pomegranate 7-UP in it.
- I am both looking forward to time away and dreading coming back to all I missed! I am also looking forward to time alone with Corry, but I really don't love leaving my kiddos (at least not for 10 days)!
- I am still so excited about a deal I got a few weeks ago at Build-a-Bear: We spent $7 ish and we got a new bear (actually a cute puppy), a bed for the animals, and a light saber that makes light saber noises! Every time I look at that stuff I get a little excited again at the great deal! A $39 value!
- I have been working out every day and have only gained 3 pounds back from my massive 25 pound weight loss! I am loving how I feel every day and being tired at night so I go to sleep hard and fast!
- I HATE daylight savings time! It has been so hard to get up and get the kids up the last few days! I really don't see the point and it makes it that much later that we can start the outdoor movies in the summer!
- There are moments I think I have the greatest kids and moments when I wonder who taught them to act that way! Scotty has this - I think I am as big as the older girls and will scream and cry when I don't get to do what they do - attitude. It is driving me crazy! He screamed for the last 40 minutes because I told him he had to go to bed and the girls got to stay up and watch the rest of their movie (that he hadn't even seen the beginning of). Rrrrr. The teenage selfishness is also getting to me. Rrrr! Maybe 10 days away will be good for me!
- Tried to give myself a pedicure today. All went well until the painting of the nails began. I didn't love the first two colors I put on, and I don't like this third one either. Trying to find something that will go with everything, but still be bright and fun is tricky. I guess I will try another color tomorrow!
- I am excited to meet up with my sister in law in Florida this weekend. I don't really know her little family because they live so far away and it makes me sad! Hopefully we can change that!
- I am having fun buying things for my other sister in law that is having a baby girl this summer. I just bought her 5 pairs of shoes today including some ruby slippers! LOVE the deals I found on them!
- Corry got an iphone today and I still have my dumb phone. :(
- I finally found a diet soda I didn't think is disgusting.... Diet Dr. Pepper
- Trying to write down the schedule for the week for my children is difficult.
- I am writing a new will (actually it is what I asked Corry to do before we leave) so that I have peace of mind going on our trip. I have been concerned about what would happen to my kids for a long time. Having a decision made gives me peace of mind to leave. If we are prepared we won't fear, right! I kind felt like if it wasn't settled, something would happen to us, but if we have things in order, we will be fine!

Maybe this time I will learn
that things aren't always what they seem! (back to expectations again)
I had been trying to call my sister in law for about a week to find out what time her sons' mission homecoming was going to be. I called, left messages, and texted. So after a week I started to wonder if maybe she didn't want us to come, if I had offended her. I was sick about it, worrying what I could have possibly done to hurt her. I love hanging out with her. We get along really well... I thought.
Then Thursday night I got a text back from her. They had been out of the country and had no service! I thought they were going on their trip after the homecoming, not before!
Nope, things are not always what they seem.

Jimmer Fever
We love, love, love Cosmo's Kid's Club! We are able to go see so many Cougar Sports for great prices. This year we ended up with 20 basketball tickets and with our schedules, we could only go to 1 game. So we bought all 20 tickets for the same game, let the kids each invite a friend and invited Corry's family to go with us. We had a FANTASTIC time!
BYU's basketball team has had a phenomenal season this year so we were VERY excited to go. But then on Tuesday, starting player Brandon Davies was kicked off the team for an honor code violation and Wednesday the team player TERRIBLE!!! This great season and we were gong to the game that might be terrible too....
But, Jimmer Fredette (check it out he is even in Wikipedia now!) did not disappoint (and the rest of the team)! BYU 102 Wyoming 78
What a great day and game! Really we are true BYU fans win or loose, but we sure LOVE to see them win! I gotta say that one of the highlights of the game was watching the student section dance!
I love my Cougar loving family!

| This was so funny! After the game we went to the bell tower. Alli RAN there to see Cosmo. We waited for our turn to see him and then he got in his van. I wasn't very nice and said, loudly, "That is so LAME! There is a little kid here waiting to see him!" Cosmo got our of the back of the van and I grabbed Alli's hand and went running to him thanking him. Alli screamed! Can I just say again that Alli went running to see him in the beginning! It was so funny and I am sure Cosmo thought I was LAME, but oh well. The other girls got their picture with him and Alli would not go near and continued to scream. I thought it was hilarious! |
