Rotidog - getting fat !

Photos (Roti, 13sep09)

Update: 5oct2009, Sunday
She is getting more confident, and putting on weight :) !

Roti gets fresh water, eggs, milk about 3times per week. On 2-3 occasions, she had some good boiled beef(fr cold storage) n it almost seems like she put on massive mass within days of consumption of e meat! Talk to direct conversion of food to muscle mass!

Recently, i bought a small pack of avoderm vegetarian dog food. Good thing, Roti seems to like the vegetarian avocado based dog biscuits, and lap it up with milk. She does not also seem to be any adverse allergic reaction to the feed.
So far, Roti has been bathed twice since coming to e dog shelter, with a special organic charcoal shampoo + jap charcoal vinegar mix. Her hair is still shedding too much, & has dandruff. i have to remind e care-taker not to feed her anymore canned sardines which is said to be one of her fav food!

So far, Roti has been doing well. The other dogs in her area have not fared better, and in fact, seemed to have deteriorated since i first saw them. TLC n extra supplements, bath, walks vastly benefits Roti's health. i try to help the others but it is not enough. I have some plans, but it will take effort & time to implement.. among them,

- installation of fresh clean drinking water for the dogs,

- a systematic waste & unfinished food disposal system to reduce flies & ants(which bite),
- repairs of broken wiremesh cage doors(which has dangerous bits of wires sticking out)

Roti Dog - 12sep 2009

Jannie at Koh-vet found a new place for Roti. The place is called HOPE shelter, set up by Joseph. Its off Lima Kedai, by rubber & palm estate on an acre with simple wood & tin roof shelters for about 200 dogs & ?? cats.

2 care-takers feed & clean after the dogs. It is indeed very basic, and still much to improve, facilities as well as worker skills. This is the best of what can be done so far, and the founder(Joseph) welcomes any help that is offered.

Day1 : Roti was so distraught being at the new place that she refused her fav food of egg !
However, she settled in after a few days, n is now happily lapping up any egg n milk treats that i bring!
Day10
The other dogs r also getting accustomed to my presence, and i try my best to also give e ones nearest to her some treats each time.
Roti seems to like the essential oils (youngliving's therepeutic grade). She also seems to be expectant of the effects of relaxation fr application of the oils ;)
At present, i check up on Roti every alternate day, and also visit on sundays to spend more time + bring her for walks.. n will try to shower her on the next visit. i also try to help a baby dobermann who has balancing problems(goes round in circles).
Last week, Sox & i went on a sunday to wash part of the enclosures & the dog bowls. We also took Roti for a walk outside.

cny 2009

Tis e year of e Ox..

Cny eve, was a family reunion dinner at uncle's place. There was so much food (mostly prepared by er-shen) & a fruit yu-sheng. :)

After dinner, i went to TC to usher in e new year.. pretty memorable party poppers, e skies were filled with shinny conffetti floating in mid-air for e moment! A pro looking cyclist came by, n let me 'look out' for his bike while he went in to e temple.

Friend's wedding

It all started a couple of months ago, when Minhao visited spore & asked for some help with bookings for his very-soon upcoming wedding. His fiance is from japan, and he would be away in the u.s., and over pizza & some 'non-alcholic' drinks over at chonghaur-jasmine's anime outlet in clementi, i agreed to help wif e wedding arrangements.

Since then, there was a change in venue plans.. from a Green Room in a Garden to Goodwood Park hotel. Goodwood poolside terrace was an excellent choice; delicious international buffett fare, charming setting by the pool, commendable banquent service. The champagne fountain, flower arch, tea set for tea ceremony and a team of waiters, with one waiter especially who had excellent attention to detail (timing e 'march-in', arranging the wedding dress so the long train looked so nice during photoshoots, attentive service for the couple's needs.. making sure everything was smoothly run & relaxed).

Prior to the actual day, the shopping for a Bridal studio & package was another adventure. On recommendation from a friend, we visited the makeup artiste(Ponnie Hsu) at Tg Pagar, who afterwards introduced us to SATTINE Bridal Coutture. Danny the designer and person who attended to us was all charms, and Minhao & Rumi decided to buy the package (Gown, Photoshoot & Car dec0). i went away to malaysia over christmas for holidays afterwards, while the couple busied with Dress fittings, photoshoots, pre-wedding preparations.

The Day 30th Dec was also quite eventful, but it all turned out very well.

haha.. more to tell about the close shave near to Solemnisation time.

Mcritchie n Brunch at Poison ivy

Bil had never been to mcritchie,.. so on sat(20/9) we went on a morning outing to mcritchie reservoir n e kranji countryside.

Lots of monkeys spotted at mcrit., up close. There were also schools of fish (silver with red tipped fins) in e water, how i wish we had some bread ;)

At poison-ivy(cafe at bollywood farm), a chatty ivy singh lim came by the table to dish out interesting anecdotes of her youth and viewpoints, in full character n colorful language.

Lunch was good, grilled brinjal with cheese n veg topping, young-papaya salad with morning glory flowers, kungpao chicken, 4-angled beans fried in garlic, sweetpotato leaves, asam curryfish, drumlets, grilled chicken n fries, pratas n good simple white rice.

The cafe was bustling, and Kait had plenty of fun at e sand-pit and herb garden.
