Hot thoughts..

Living in today's cities, it doesnt take much to tip the balance, without the mutual support & easy-going ways of good ol' kampung living.

My dear sis had a crisis recently, when little Kait's baby sitter was suddenly unavailable (admitted to hospital for sharp abdominal pains). Such a stressful time, she had to take emergency leave, and go hunting for a childcare centre to mind Kait for the week. Kait's grandma happens to be a very busy person & outstation at the moment. Everyone else seems to be stress'd & time tied with somethings... exams, work-related, etc.

Is this the quality of life which we strive so hard to achieve?

When kampongs are taken away, for the sake of economic progress.

In Today's Straits Times : The last 2 kampong residents of singapore were evicted from their blue water pond facing Shack (yup its nowhere as sophisticated as the million$ condos)... But hey, did the Govt (represnting the best interest of society) have to exterminte this very last heritage of this isle.

The other article in today's national newspapers: The increase of Civil Service Personnel's Salaries, notably of the Top politician's, by up to 33%! The top levels get a significant pay raise, "justified" by benchmarking & the effort/brilliance(?) required to lead a very uniquely challenging set of country factors (being surrounded by hostiles?? (or so believed) , small population, no natural resource?)
Now, i wonder what is the Salary of an Isreali minister?

At the rate this ramble is heading, i shall rest my case for tonight.
