Gone To The Dogs

What is up with dogs running loose in the neighborhood?! Two just ran past my window. And last night one was sniffing around the front beds. And now there's a chorus going on -- like the dogs calling out across the countryside in 101 Dalmations. Wonder what they know?

It's quiet now.
But I think they're still out there.

I'm going to the gym.

Two Steps Forward...

I somehow managed to smush the inside screen of my cool new free phone. I think it happend at the park... so beware of screen-smushing swings. Or don't carry your phone in a hip pocket. Either way works.

"Why don't you return the phone," a chorus of Costco-savvy friends inquire? Well, it was free so I have nothing to gain by returning it. Trust me, I've tried all the angles.

And I looked at a cheapie replacement, but I'm already spoiled by the Pearl. And I am just getting the hang of it. So I'm going to stick with it. Because it still works fine. Aside from the two dark blobs on the screen. But I'm working around them.

My V-ipod, however, is fantastic.

And I can run half a mile now.

Free Free Set Me Free

Last week I got a Blackberry -- for free! Costco rocks.
And an Ipod. Technically not free, but purchased with Costco cash-back and therefore doesn't count, right? Two bold steps into the technology of this century that have turned my world upside down. I have missed calls, voicemails, and texts because it is a new phone. And you know what they say about teaching an old dog new tricks... woof.

My V-Ipod, named in honor of it's shade of Vikings purple and not because it is violet, took all morning to set up and load with 41 songs. The first one? You Make Me Feel Like Dancing by Leo Sayer. A feel-good flashback to my childhood if there ever was one. Love it!

John hates it. I don't know how you can hate a song that starts, "You've got a cute way of talking..." My sophisticated Kate's reaction was, "Why would you download old-school music onto your Ipod?" (She's a tween, you know.) But Anna danced with me in the kitchen to all sorts of random tracks.

Anyway, the girls (on bikes) and I took my V-Ipod out for a test run today. Okay, so the running lasted half a block and then it was a test walk.

Whatever.

It was thoroughly enjoyable.
Even when my V-Ipod dislodged itself from my bra strap, bounced on the sidewalk and sustained a few minor cosmetic injuries. I may need to check into those fancy running shirts with Ipod accessories. Or a light jacket with a kangaroo pouch.
I'll need them for all my running, you know.

Because it may be that my V-Ipod will inspire me to heretofore unknown heights of running success, culminating in future Ragnar participation. The non-driving kind. See how fitting that would be? It might just release the inner athlete that has been imprisoned within my whole life.

Or maybe not.

Lost in Translation

For those of you who don't read first-grader, the previous post reads thus:

I know my sister.
You think she is nice.
But she's really not nice.

This tender note was found behind the couch in the family room. I laughed. Because I know that sometimes it is hard to be the little sister. Or the big sister.

And I am confident that my girls will grow up and love their sister.

Because I do.
