FTL129 No Winter Lasts Forever....

I have never used this sentiment stamp before, but after the bitterly cold weather we've been "enjoying" in Calgary the last few months, I figured the sentiment was the perfect one to try to lift my spirits...

129!

Good evening! It's time for this week's sketch. Here it is:
If you're wondering about dimensions, the middle panel is 3 inches across. I don't have a measurement for the oval. I used a Nestabilities oval. However, several sizes of the ovals would have worked on here!
Here's my card. I decided to use Heather's Totally Hues colours. I have to admit, I had a tricky time fitting Raspberry Fizz in there, but I finally worked it in as an accent colour! I just recently got the Growing Green set, and I had to use the leaf image from it! It makes a lovely background.
Supplies:
  • Stamps: Growing Green (SU), Inside & Out: Birthday (PTI)
  • Paper: Dark Chocolate, Ocean Tides, Raspberry Fizz, Kraft, Aqua Mist
  • Ink: Dark Chocolate, Ocean Tides
  • Ribbon: Raspberry Fizz Swiss dot satin ribbon
  • Accessories, etc.: Bow Easy, Scallop edge punch, oval Nestabilities
As always, if you play along, feel free to leave a link to your post!

FTL128 Live Love Laugh

I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend....  It's a long weekend here in Canada, made extra long since the kids have been off school since Thursday.

I had fun creating with this weeks' challenge... and I hope you will as well!

*Images:  Hampton Art
*Ink:  Stampin' Up! Concord Crush, Almost Amethyst
*Tools:  Big Shot; Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 5
*Embellishments:  bling (you can't see it in my photo, but there are small gems in the centres of the two flowers)

Such a fun card to put together...  I can't wait to see what you all come up with too!

128!

Good afternoon everyone! It's time for another sketch. It's also time to focus on some of those label shaped dies so many of us have. They make a great focal point!
Although my card is a bit more on the complex side, when you break down the layout, it's CAS to the core! This card actually started with me playing around the dress form die. It's loads of fun to mix and match patterned papers, solid papers, glitter, and buttons and make your own totally unique embellishment! Instead of stamping an image on the label, I highly encourage you to make your own embellishment!
Supplies:
  • Stamps: Background Basics: Sheet Music, Birthday Basics, Mat Stack Collection 1 (Papertrey Ink)
  • Ink: Perfect Plum, Smokey Shadow
  • Paper: Smokey Shadow, Perfect Plum, Sweet Blush, Lavender Moon, White, Sweet Pea DSP (Stampin' Up!)
  • Accessories, etc: Dress Form die, Mat Stack 1 die, button (PTI), border punch (Stampin' Up!), glitter, string
And as always, feel free to leave a link to your project! In case you didn't know, I keep the links open for 2 weeks. If you play along after that time frame, feel free to leave a link in the comments instead!

127!

Here's this week's sketch!
And here's my card (it may look slightly familiar, I posted it over at my personal card blog earlier this week).
I thought these colours would work nicely for a masculine card. I pulled out Masculine Motifs and got to work. I went with one of my fall to layouts. I added the leaves in dark chocolate to the side panel, it didn't seem finished though, so I stamped over that with a Text Style background.
Supplies:
  • Stamps: Masculine Motifs, Background Basics: Text Style II
  • Ink: Terracotta Tile, Melon Berry, Dark Chocolate
  • Paper: Dark Chocolate, Kraft, Melon Berry, Terracotta Tile
  • Accessories, etc.: Button, String, Corner rounder
As always, feel free to leave a link below. The thumbnails are back and here to stay, after a brief hiatus.

acc - corner chomper, dimensionals, photo corner punch

FTL126 Happy 13th Birthday

When I first saw Natasha's sketch, I immediately panicked.  I loved the idea of using a number in the centre of the card but couldn't think of a reason to make one.  Most of our friends have already turned 40 (the last two are still a few years off), there isn't a big anniversary coming up.... I didn't know what to do.

And then suddenly, I felt like an idiot and had a total DUH! moment...  my younger son was going to his friends' 13th birthday party on Saturday.  See... told you it was a DUH! moment!!!  I used a FTL to create her birthday party invitations so why not use another for her birthday card!
Items Used:
*Cardstock:  PTI White; Core'dinations
*Pattern Paper:  Imaginisce
*Images:  Impress
*Ink:  Pearlescent Orchid Brilliance
*Tools:  Big Shot; Spellbinders Nestabilities
*Embellishments:  Thickers; unknown satin ribbon
