Random thoughts on bags and men...

Sometimes, two of my friends Mon and I-van and I would talk about getting a forever bag. You know, it's that one bag you will use until you're old and gray... or at least, for the next decade or so. Haha!

As I grow older, I noticed that I tend to be following a "less is more" thinking when it comes to certain things. For example, my current uniform is usually a black top and navy blue pants. Except on certain days where I have to wear khaki/cream pants with a dark colored shirt, I would just usually wear a black shirt and navy blue shorts/pants. I'm trying to make it my identity, if that makes sense. In terms of brand, I'm trying (and so far I've been successful) at just acquiring a specific Japanese brand. It costs more than your usual shirt but I believe these pieces are worth it because I'm assured of the quality of work and the creativity behind it.

When it comes to bags, gone are the days when I was crazy over getting all sorts of bags. These days, I just stick to Jack Spade. The brand is affordable and the piece itself is something that would last me for years.

Recently though, I've been thinking about forever bags. Again, it's still part of the whole "less is more" thinking as I turn a year older in a few months. I'm slowly reaching that stage where I'd rather pay for an expensive piece knowing that it will last me several years (maybe even a decade) than getting something from the usual store. I don't really need another bag. What I'd go for is another good bag. And I have an idea on the ones that I'd like to have.

The other day, I asked Mon to accompany me to a particular store in Ngee Ann. This one bag has been on my mind and I'm thinking of saving for it. It will be my forever brunch/lazy day bag. Haha! I'm eyeing the one in black.

I was wondering if it's a bit girly but I know I can pull it off as I've seen other men do it. (just like the guys in the above photos which I found on the Internet).

Hmm...

Holy mother of backpacks...

I haven't been spending a lot on bags as I used to back in the Philippines.

In fact, when I left for SG, I gave away some of prized bags or they're now being used (I hope) by my bros.

For a couple of times, I've been tempted to buy a bag or two here in SG because it looked more affordable all of a sudden. Haha! But I'm proud to say that I still haven't made any bag purchase since I got here.

Uhm, there's a part of me that's just yearning for three specific bags. Once I've gotten all three, I think I'll be content already for at least a decade. Hehe!

But once in a while, you will encounter a bag which really makes your heart skip a beat. Because it does that, you're willing to give up your eat out funds, your clubbing allowance, your holiday airfare (?!) just to purchase the piece. Haha!

The backpack above is from the Spring Summer 2013 collection of Givenchy.

I'm not a huge fan of backpacks, but there issomething about this bag that really draws me to it. Haha!

As friend I-van said, the bag has the ability to be both "patronizing and irreverent." That's the nice thing about it. To me, I also like it because of image of the Madonna.

Being a devotee of Our Lady, I think this is one of the "cool" ways of showing love for her. Hehehe! I can imagine myself queueing for La Pieta next year with this pack on my bag. Haha!

The piece is not available yet. No price info yet as well. But I'm sure it'll be ultra ex. I would need either a miracle or a lot of second collection. Haha!

Holy mother of backpacks!

Someone recently went on a little shopping. Hehe! Got a little something so I decided to treat myself a bit. Hehe! Uhm, I've been eyeing the Springfield neckwear for the longest time. I thought about getting it after Christmas, but decided not to because I wasn't sure what to do with it. When I visited the Springfield shop over the weekend, I saw that it was still there so I took it as a sign (or as an excuse) to go get it. Hehe! I'm sure it'll be of many uses.

Now, the other purchase from the London fashion house known for its multi-color swirls is a best buy, trust me. I've been eyeing the holdall for quite some time now and I finally took the plunge and got it with my eyes closed. Hehe! It was a good purchase though, especially after I felt the soft lining and I thought that the design was really one of a kind. Hehe!

Now, the other bag from the same house has a brother.

Alright, I think I shall be living on crackers and instant noodles for the next few months, after these buys.
