Hollytree?

Well, I said I was going to post more and I am not doing a great job! Carly gave me some inspiration last night though. After a few really tough days regarding her behavior, yesterday was mostly pleasant.

She started talking about wanting to drive a plane when she grows up. I ommented she could be a pilot if she wanted to be a pilot. She told me no, I want to drive an airplane and be the driver with the headphones. Ok, Carly, that's the pilot. Then she started saying how fun it would be to ride on an airplane and that she wanted us to go somewhere in a plane. I asked her where she wanted to go. She started asking if places were far away, like Las Vegas, Washington, and a few others. A few minutes later she returned to this conversation and told me we could go to "Hollytree." I honestly had no idea what she was talking about at first. I kept telling her that I did not know where "Hollytree" was. She finally said, "You know Mom, it's far away . . .in California."

Then it hit me and I asked, "Do you mean Hollywood."

"Yes, Hollywood!" she finally got through to me!

Now I want to know where she learned about Hollywood, California and why that is her destination of choice. You never know what is going to come out of her mouth!

Doctor Visits and McDonalds Excitment

The kids each had a well child check this morning with our Pediatrician.  Carly's 4-year visit went well.  She is at the 97th percentile for her weight, 47 lbs, and above the 97th percentile for her height, 45 inches.  The doctor told me she was the height of an average six year old.  No surprise there though.  Brady's 18-month visit also went well.  He didn't even cry when he got his shot, Carly was impressed!  He was at the 60th percentile for his weight, 26 lbs, and 65th percentile for his height.

The real fun came after lunch.  We went to McDonalds so the kids could play after they ate.  Jon met us and they were both excited to see him.  Jon carried Brady back to the play place and he was getting ready to take his shoes off when he puked!  We were caught completely off guard.  It was awful.  The puke hit the tile and splattered everywhere. Plus, the place was full of people.  A couple of moms looked at me with sympathetic understanding, but a couple of them looked at us like we were the most terrible and most disgusting people they had ever seen. We quickly cleaned Jon and Brady up the best we could and I told Carly it was time to come out of the play equipment so we could get Brady home.  She exploded and had an absolute fit!  She yelled and waved her arms the whole way to the car.  It was awesome!  Jon had to come home and change clothes and then headed back to work.

NEVER A DULL MOMENT!!!

4th Birthday Celebrations

We have spent an entire week celebrating Carly's fourth birthday.  We celebrated with each side of the family over the last two weekends.  On Wednesday we celebrated at home.  Carly wanted Jon to bring home spaghetti and breadsticks.  We had Fazzoli's and cupcakes for dinner and then opened her presents.  She finally got the bike she had been asking for.  She was pretty wobbly the first night, but she has really improved quickly.  By spring I am sure she will be cruising.  For now she can ride in the basement.

Hello . . . Again . . . and Welcome 2012!

I cannot believe it has been sooo long since my last post. I am so disappointed in myself.  I have missed out of months of memories being docmented.  I think when I finally joined Facebook I lost touch with our blog.  Now I look back and wish I had done better.  It is so great to be able to look back and read about what we were doing and see it in pictures.  So here goes - trying to get back on track.  Plus, my parents are not in the Facebook world and they are one of the two main reasons I decided to start this blog.

The kids are doing well.  Brady just passed the 18 month mark and Carly will turn 4 next week.  The idea of my baby turning 4 is harder to handle than I ever expected.  The year of the 3-year old has been rough.  Whoever coined the phrase "terrible twos" had no idea what was waiting for them next.  Three came in with a bang and is going out with a roar.  The last couple of weeks have been filled with fits and temper tantrums.  Carly is an amazing little girl, with a huge heart and even bigger imagination, but watch out when the switch is flipped!  She is amazing and we love her dearly and we are hoping 4 is a little easier to handle.

Brady is also a blessing.  He is so much fun!  He is goofy and playful, always ready to cuddle and give you lovin'.  He thinks his big sister is the best and it is awesome to watch them play and wrestle.

Our Christmas was spent at home - Carly had strep and an ear infection.  We made the most out of being in quarantine at home and enjoyed the day.  We rang in 2012 at home also.  Brady came down with that nasty stomach bug going around on New Year's Eve and over the next few days we all suffered with it.  Yet, we know we are blessed with a happy, healthy family and look forward to the new year.

Hope everyone's 2012 has gotten off to a great start!

A good start to March

March has gotten off to a good start.  Brady is getting stronger and loves to stand on his own two feet.  He is trying so hard to crawl, but he just can't figure it out yet.

Carly enjoys her morning coffee and paper :)

A good day to draw and take a walk.

A great morning.

February is finally over!

February was a long short month.  Too much snow and cold!  We made the best of it we could and enjoyed all the time we got outside.  We were able to play a little and I thought I'd share some pictures.
