Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #68 - Spiderman

Welcome Everyone to our 68th Cinema Challenge - where this week we are featuring the Oscar nominated 2002 movie: Spider-man! We thought we needed something different from all the romance, and romantic tragedies that we have done lately - so how about an action packed movie? The challenge requirement is to use either a little bit or a lot of a transparency sheet or acetate (it doesn't have to be the whole card - it could just be a little bit). There are a lot of themes from this movie: being a hero, a superhero, coming into your own powers, friendship, loyalty, romance (Spidy and MJ) etc. The main thing is to have fun! (and shhh! you can watch the whole movie on youTube in 10min segments!) Here is a trailer for your viewing pleasure:

Brooke's Card inspired by the movie: Spiderman
Did we all grow up with this movie and or guy or what.. I even remember watching Spiderman back in the day when he only spoke in though bubbles on the original "Electric Company" back in the "70's" yikes... I really loved this challenge I new weeks ago that I was going to make a floating spider.. I do have another card in mind as well. Hope I get it done so I can share.. I am so glad to have the chance to make a card or 2 for boys to have on hand:
Spiderman, Spiderman, Does whatever a spider can. Spins a web, any size, Catches thieves just like Flies. Look out! Here comes the Spiderman!
The of the aspect of the Spiderman movies I like is watching Peter Parker struggle between having confidence and finding the strength to be a Hero... It reminds us all about our struggle between good and bad choices..
Hope you all enjoy the show/challenge.

Sankari's Card inspired by the movie: Spiderman
I grew up reading the Spidy comic books and was excited to see the comic book come to life in the big screen. I think my most favorite part of the movie is where he is just coming into himself and recognizing his powers. I love the way he tries to live the way his uncle inspired him to and how he recognizes his strengths, his responsibilities and how he manages his new found spidy power. I made this card inspired by the "web" and was going to make it blue - but somehow - I was feeling green :) The sentiment is inspired by Parker's struggle to be figure out "who" he really is and to fully embrace his new found powers. I used some "fun-fur" ribbon because it reminded me of the little "grippy" things on his fingers that he uses to climb buildings :)
I cut little bits of acetate and alternated them on my "kind of a web" part of the card (its so hard to take a picture of acetate!). I had a lot of fun making this crazy card and hope you will join us this week!!
Big hugs!
Sankari :)

This week, our guest designer is Karli of Crafting with Class. Karli's beautiful handbag creation that she made for the movie challenge Clueless caught our attention, and we are so happy that she agreed to be our guest designer this week! Check out her awesome creation:

Karli's Card inspired by the movie: Spiderman
I used the Spidey colors of blue & red for the card which is the style of the Folded Paper Frame technique. I embossed it in my CB web folder & ran my Stardust pen over the lines. The sentiment is probably the most famous Spidey quote. I found a Spiderman font to type the quote, created a Rub-on on my computer/printer, and rubbed it on to a piece of acetate.
In thinking about this quote, my oldest son came to mind. He’s got his driver's permit & is on his way to getting his license (something he's been dreaming about since birth, trust me on that one!) The quote reads "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility...or stick with the responsibility of a buss pass!"
Unfortunately, I haven't been the best driving role model since I have a rare condition called metal-to-the-pedalitis! Heard of that one??? ;) His DMV docs are tucked in the pocket."

So who's going to be our next guest designer? It could be you! All you have to do is to create a card, layout, altered project, etc., that is inspired by the movie: Spider-Man! Your inspiration can come from the costumes, the dialogue, the music, the themes, the characters, the colors - anything at all from the movie!! *****The challenge element for this movie - is to create something with some transparency or with some acetate (little or alot up to you!).

Please link by to us by this Thursday March, 4th by 8PM Central Time and we will announce the Audrey winner on Friday with sneak peeks for the next movie!!!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #67 - Tristan & Isolde

Welcome to our 67th movie challenge where this week's featured movie is the 2006 film Tristan & Isolde, which is similar to Romeo and Juliet and was originally an opera created by Richard Wagner. We love featuring movies that are both extreme box office hits, as well as quiet films that have a beautiful story. This film is a beautiful love story (albeit a romantic tragedy - but so lovely) and if you do watch it on DVD, check out the story of the screen writer and how he translates his dream into reality - very inspiring. You can also watch the whole movie on Youtube if you haven't seen it before (its divided into 12 parts). Our dear guest designer today, Amy Park, gave us the challenge to create a card with a gatefold/or trifold look to it (**if you are not going to make a card, you can use an interesting kind of fold or opening in your creation). There are a lot of different gates, hidden passages in this movie, and this challenge requirement is a tribute to that. Here are some more ideas from the Cinema Inspiration Corner for this weeks movie!
If you want to get more about the story, you can check out this awesome link
To watch it on Youtube - here is the link for Part 1 (divided into 12 parts/segments total)
You can watch the trailer here or here:

Brooke's Card inspired by the movie Tristan and Isolde:
Ok. I have to say I got totally sucked into this movie.. I was looking for a quote that would summarize this movie in one statement, so I did a little YouTube of this move and I was instantly hooked. I left the main computer and grabbed the laptop and headed down to my crafty place. I watched EVERY scene of this movie and it all felt so familiar but new at the same time. The last time I watched this movie I was on my way to England (ironically) and was trying to rest. The lady who was sitting next to me yacked the whole time. Now don't get me wrong; I can talk as well as anyone or better but it was LATE and I had taken half a sleeping pill to be able to rest. So watching it again made me feel like I had found an old friend with this movie.
Thanks for the Gatefold suggestion Amy I was so fun to create this card.. A huge thanks to Amy for being our guess designer. I love to see all of your many creations. I get to so excited when I see you name on mister linky...

On this card I have one very unique element can you guess what it is?
Come visit me on my blog and see what it is. Don't forget to leave me some love and see the inside of the card...
Hugs,
Brooke

Sankari's Card inspired by the movie Tristan and Isolde:
This is such a perfect date night movie (except for the romantic tragedy part of it) it has action/battle scenes mixed in with romance and love, something for everyone :) I remember watching this movie and being charmed by all of the small details and so my inspiration came from all the Celtic work on the plates, the armor, the jewelry and I created a gatefold card based on this. I loved watching this movie (not so much the war/violence part - more the beautiful parts :). And especially loved watching the making of this movie, the screenplay writer's vision of this movie - it is so inspiring. Both Tristan and Isolde's love was something so deep and passionate and that which could be felt in the heart:

The sentiment says: "The Best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart." Helen Keller - They both carried each other in their hearts till the end - where she says - "Wherever you go, whatever you see, I will be there with you." Sigh....
I loved creating this little gatefold creation and can't wait to see all of your creations!
Hugs,
Sankari :)

Last week, we loved Amy's beautiful creation of a boathouse that she created for the movie challenge Sleepless in Seattle, this week she has created some more papercrafting genius with this lovely creation:

Amy's Card inspired by the movie Tristan and Isolde:
I watched "Tristan and Isolde on YouTube, had never heard of it before, but throughly enjoyed the love story. I think the whole idea of a romantic tragedy applead to me from the lidea of living in the moment. Perhaps never seeing a loved one again to rejoicing in simple reminders until you do meet again. Make sense? This card reminds me of the secret doors fromt he movie & the coral bracelet that Tristan made. I made mind from Flower Soft and a piece of ballet slipper elastic :)
The technique of the faux bois can be found at SCS. Thanks for the fun creative brain stretching exercises. I always have a great time with this challenge & seeing how everyone else interprets.
ttfn,
Amy

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #66 - Clueless

Good Morning Everyone and welcome to the 66th Cinema Saturday Creative challenge!! We have picked some intense movies lately (or ones where there are alot of teary eyes after watching it) and so we wanted this week's movie pick to be fun and light - so this week's movie challenge is the 1995 movie: Clueless starring Alicia Sliverstone (who won the American Comedy Award for funniest actress for this movie). This movie is loosely based on Jane Austen's novel Emma, set in modern time (you can read more about the comparisons on this site ). Our guest designer for this week Kathy, suggested that for our challenge this week that do a little something with plaid - and when you see the movie - you will see alot of plaid prints in so many different shades - so our challenge requirement is to use a TOUCH of plaid (just a little bit or alot - up to you). There are some fun themes in this movie - and if you are having a hard time getting your creative juices flowing, here is a little inspiration corner with some themes, visual inspiration or color combination choices to help you get started:
Here are some more links for inspiration:
Cast Interviews from Clueless (crazy how they all look so different!)
Movie trailer from the movie Clueless you can see it here or watch it here:

Sankari's Creation Inspired by the Movie: CLueless:
I think one of my most favorite memories from watching this movie was remembering how popular it was to use the phrase "whatever", or "as if.." which kinda came out of this movie :) I always thought that Alicia Sliverstone was just perfect for the role of Cher (which is really the role of Emma from Jane Austen). She has such a sweet heart and I just adored the way that her heart opened and she was able to see the bigger picture. I loved watching this movie again and seeing all of the fashions of '95 and just loved all of Cher's purses and accessories. So my inspiration was to create a gift set for my niece's birthday with a few essential fashion items (some make up, chocolate and lotions :) using the Carolina's purse box template and also made a coordinating card:
And here is the coordinating card:

I had so much fun creating this fun little purse for my niece (who isn't into the "girly" colors, so I had to create something that wasn't too pink - hope she likes this :). And I can't wait to see all of you cinema inspired creations. Please stop by my blog for more details,
Big hugs,
Sankari :)

Brooke's Card inspired by the movie: CLUELESS

So I was totally inspired my Kathy this week . I Just couldn't help my self... I had to do a store front. And I had to make it a totally girlie girl card of course..

----------------------------

Kathy's Creation Inspired by the Movie: CLueless:
A big thank you to Brooke and Sankari for the wonderful honor of being a guest designer for this challenge. It was such fun to hang with you gals and play for the past week! I loved rewatching the movie Clueless. It was fun to see what was trends this movie created. I got a real kick at the large cell phones. Of course it is so funny how shallow and "CLUELESS" the main character Cher is. It is fun to watch her struggle with finding what matters in the world. The scene were she gets robbed is hilarious. She was more worried about her designer dress then the fact that she was at gun point.

My design is focused on the character Cher and her LOVE for fashion and shopping. I drew a digital image to look a bit like Cher...paying careful attention to her style in the film. I noticed many outfits with the high socks and close toed heels, so I drew those on her feet with a sprinkle of glitter. I added shopping bags and put a Starbucks cup of coffee in her hand. I noticed several scenes where they were drinking Starbucks, which of course I can relate too...( Single Hazel Nut Latte with low foam and whip, please ). I created a storefront in girly prints and colors so Cher would feel right at home.

I decided to put a little Pup in the window....it just seemed kinda fun and trendy. This is where I used the requirement of "Plaid". I used a fun Plaid print paper for the pups dog bed. I broke out my collection of rhinestones to accent this project with plenty of bling and shine. I also used some Star Dust Stickles to accent her shopping bags and the flowers that I cut out. This card was great fun. It was fun to pull out all the pink and green papers and just keep adding things that sparkle!"

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #65 - Sleepless in Seattle

Welcome Everyone to our 65th Challenge and with Valentine's day just a week away, we thought we would help provide some romantic-love cinema for your creative inspiration - so this week we are featuring the love story: Sleepless in Seattle (seriously, how did you guys guess this? and Meg Ryan too?? your Friday sneak peek guesses are amazing!). This movie was nominated for two Oscars and since its release and is influenced by the brilliant 1957 movie: "An Affair to Remember" (starring Cary Grant/Deborah Karr) - which we did as a Cinema challenge last year (by the way - this movie is a MUST see!!). We thought we would keep the challenge requirement simple this week: just add a red heart (big, small, lots or little!). There are lots of themes in this movie: here are some themes, visual inspiration and color inspiration if you need a little mojo boost in creating your card:
Here is a link more about the story (**spoiler alert) and plot background
Here is a video clip of Tom Hanks talking about "Sleepless in Seattle
If you haven't seen the movie, you can watch it here on Youtube
To watch the trailer of "Sleepless in Seattle" - click here
Here are our cards inspired by this movie :)

Brooke's project inspired by the movie~ Sleepless in Seattle.
I think you can tell where I get my inspiration for this scrapbook page/Valentine for my sweetie. The Heart from the Empire state building. The majority of my inspiration comes from the true love that Sam(Tom Hanks) has for the love of his life. And the touching way he shared his memories of her. It's also represent opening your heart to find new love and a healing heart:

I love when Annie(Meg Ryan) and Becky(Rosie O'Donnell's) characters get lost in the movie "An Affair to Remember" we become part of their oh's and ah's as they crying over hope hopes and dreams of romance in their own lives. The funny thing in this movie I can relate to it the code cracking that the adults have with problem solving.. Remember when the kids Jonah and Jessica were saying things like:
Jessica: H & G.
Sam: has a look like what?
Jessica ( giving a look like duh!):Hi and Goodbye.

I feel that same way with some of the texting lingo... I am pretty hip I like to think.. But come on the only teen I text is mine and he doesn't speak in code to me... LOL. Did I mention this is also one of my sweeties favorite movies...He said "The chemistry between Tom and Megan at the end of the move on top of the Empire State building is just amazing. It's hard to beat that". Is he adorable or what. (heart melter for sure and he is all mine)
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to see you listed below so we can enjoy your projects.
Hugs!
Brooke

Sankari's Card Inspired by the movie: Sleepless in Seattle:
I think one of my favorite parts of this movie is when Meg Ryan and Rosie O"Donnell are watching the beautiful movie: An Affair to Remember. If you haven't seen this movie - you MUST I love when they were quoting Deborah Carr - Oh! What an amazing movie (seriously - you will love this movie - it is so smart and witty, and romantic and brilliant!). It was hilarious when Rita Wilson was describing this movie to Tom Hanks character and she starts crying (I watched this with my MIL and we were both crying at the end... sigh, sob!) and then I love it because Tom and Bill Pullman's character describe the Dirty Dozen movie in the same way! LOL! I love when Meg Ryan writes that she will meet him on the top of the Empire State Building just like Deborah Karr did with Cary Grant -- so that was my inspiration for the movie -

that and the elevator doors at the Empire State Building: here is my attempt to take a picture of my inspiration pic from the movie (as I am watching it!! lollol!!)
I love the way they talk about destiny and magic in this movie - and how the heart sparks in recognition when he meet your beloved :) So I created the sentiment: Love is Magical for my love card for my DH :)

I loved watching this movie (I think I have watched it over 30 times - but it always makes me smile and I adore the little boy Jonah - how cute is he -- sigh... Well, we hope that you will play along with us this week as we are all gearing up to create our Valentine's day cards for our dear ones!!! Can't wait to see your lovely creations!!!
Big hugs!
Sankari :)

This week we are joined by the awesome Julia Herald - whose lovely card for the movie challenge Australia was our Audrey winner! This week she joins us as our Guest Designer!

Julia's Card Inspired by the movie: Sleepless in Seattle:
Sleepless in Seattle really is one of my favorite movies. I love how Annie tries to figure out if she truly loves Walter. I think it is so funny when her brother tells her that his wife told him that they either had to get married or break up! Her mother tells her that it was like Magic and when Sam explains how he touched his wifes hand to help her out of the car, it was like Magic! That is the inspiration for my card. I think when we meet the person that we are meant to be with, deep down, you know that this is the one. I can't say that when my husband touched my hand that it was Magic but I probably knew and I grew to love him deeply!

This isn't my usual romantic card. I created a fun card because this movie is fun along with being romantic! For the front of the card I printed the hands from the internet and colored them with Copic markers. I also printed the saying from the computer. The patterned paper is Teresa Collins. I ran the grey, pink, heart and cameo through different Cuttlebug folders. The cameos are from a stamp made by Stamps Happens, Inc. I colored them in with an embossing pen and embossed them with black embossing powder and cut them out.

For the inside of the card, the stamp is Queen Kat Designs. The red chipboard letters are Marcella attached to silver Prisma paper.

The rabbit is an old Easter die cut. The paper pieced hat, wand and flowers are my own design. I added punched stars and lips. I had a great time creating this card!

Thanks so much Julia for being our guest designer this week - your card is just awesome and the way they hold hands at the end of the movie is totally captured beautifully in your card!!!
