Sweet Boy

Well, it's a snow day here (it's not actually snowing yet)
so hopefully I can get a few things caught up today
and I will start with my blog :)

I have 2 cards and 1 LO to share.
The first one is straight out of the box. I added a paper doily &
some cotton thread from my stash and that is it.

This card features my brand new punch (I have had it for over
2 months but this is the first time I used it,
so I still consider it new.

I joined a Stampin' Up! stamp club in December in hopes to
improve my stamping abilities and met some
wonderful ladies (and have got some rockin'
products to boot!) I am in love with all things birds/owls
lately (not the real thing though - real birds
kinda freak me out), so of course I snatched this
punch right up from Tina Weller!

I was inspired as SOON as I saw this die cut from My Mind's Eye and knew that I wanted to do a LO with ALOT of different descriptions and alphas about my big boy. Since Hip 2-B Square kits are always bursting with alphas (4 in this kit & the add-on), I thought this would be a prime time to work this project into my assignments.

This is Connor on his 8th birthday :)

I had a bit of empty space between these 2 words and fixed it up with small piece of light coloured cardstock. It fills the space up and doesn't make the layout look too busy or fussy.

Thanks for popping by today!

I Do All My Own Stunts

Hello, Scrappy Friends!
Today I have 2 more cards to share from the January Hip 2-B Square kit and a LO.

This is one of my favorite cards. I just loved the way the polka dot vellum looked with the doily patterned paper. I made the flower with leftover scraps & my Martha Stewart heart punch. I think I used 7 hearts for this flower and layered/adhered them around a circle piece of paper. The stem & leaves are cut free hand and slightly inked.

This LO was a rip apart & re-do. Originally, the vellum paper was used all around my LO and was a focal point but all the elements just looked like they were floating. I then cut down my entire LO (everything from the green down to the polka dots) with my paper trimmer (I had to pull out tthe buttons & then re-adhere them)& then layered it on a woodgrain paper. I think this looks way better in the end.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great Tuesday!

I (heart) My Camera

Hello Scrappy Friends!
Today, I have a LO & a tag to share using the January Hip 2-B Square kit.

For this LO, I cut pieces of washi tape & adhered them to a piece of cotton thread and folded them over back onto themselves. I then trimmed each piece in alternating banner shapes and attached to my LO. Washi is a great embellishment to work with, especially if you are short on time since it is adhesive, you get to skip the 'gluing part'.

This little birdie was punched out with a Stampin' Up punch that I love. I punched several layers and adhered them to each other to give my bird pieces added depth.

Love Day

Happy Valentine's Day!
I have been scrapping but am in the midst of some new projects that aren't quite ready yet, so I thought I would re-visit some love inspired favourites.

This LO has an openeing and stores my Little Guy's Valentines
from his classmates. I think I will do this same idea for this year's treasures.

This is a 5x7 canvas I did for Glue Dots 2 years ago.
I inked the sides of the project & made paper roses from various patterned papers.
I accentuated the project with some pearl bling (Kaiser Craft), burlap & Thickers.

This was a just for fun project using up lots of left over Thickers and pics I had printed and never used. I punched out hearts from the same piece of cardstock and adhered them for an embossed look. This LO is a favourite of mine.

This LO uses misting (Mr. Huey's & Studio Calico mask) & Basic Grey papers that were fussy cut.
The LO is of Hubby & I on our Honeymooon, 12 years ago.

And this is a LO using LOTS of Basic Grey goodness is of Mr. Man 4 years ago.
I dressed him as a love bug on V-Day and took his pic. I am pretty sure he will be mad about these images someday. :)

I have a few more 'love' inspired projects that were posted over at Shimelle Laine's blog a few weeks ago. You can check them out HERE.

EDITED Feb 5th, 2013:
Just some answers to a few questions: You can normally find these types of doilies at your local $1 Store & Wal-mart (this is where I purchased the bulk of mine-I also have found some beautiful shades of paper doilies at Michael's in the discount section). I have also picked up doilies that were made by Little Yellow Bicycle several seasons ago from my LSS. I have located some online at Etsy stores, you can check them out here.

The measurements of the doilies for my banner are as follows:
Base: 10x10" round
2nd layer: 8x8" round
Heart doilies: 6x6"
The overall length of my banner is approximately 70".
