Quiet Time

Thank goodness for quiet time. Quiet time is every day during Norie's nap. I put her down for her nap, help E get to the guest room downstairs with toys for quiet time, and then I go upstairs and get ready for the day (this is after being at the gym). I came downstairs yesterday to find this (above picture). I love how E is just laying with his blanket all cuddly reading a library book. He had moved the library book basket so it was right next to him, and had lined up his and Norie's boots to a special spot. I just thought it was too cute and had to take a shot.

This was a picture I took this morning before Lils went off to school. The kids were just cuddling up together and giggling. These are the sweet times you try to remember the rest of the day when the kids are driving you crazy. :)

9 Years!

Dave and I have been married 9 years today! Happy Anniversary Davey!

Stinton Beach

We had such an amazing weekend with some great friends, the Hancock's! They live about an hour away and so we grabbed a Saturday and hung out in the San Fran area. It was so fun! (NOT San Fran, though!) Saturday morning driving in was crazy. It took us around 45 min to get in and parked. Yikes. I was so glad I wasn't driving! We tried to go to Golden Gate Park, but there was a concert there this past weekend and we couldn't find parking anywhere. We ended up eating a pizza while parked out in a red zone, then heading off to a beach Erica knew of. What a difference a few miles make! Stinton Beach is 9.5 miles (35 min driving) from San Fran and an incredible find. As soon as we left the traffic, noise, and dirtiness of the city, we were surrounded by trees, gorgeous views of cliffs, and a fresh ocean breeze. It was perfect. This top picture of Rose about sums up our beach day! So fun!
My favorite part of the day was seeing Rose enjoy the sand. She loved it so much. Dave said the sand to Baby No was like catnip to a cat. It really was! She was laying in it, rolling around, giggling, and just plain happy. She is not normally so sweet and happy and so Dave and I just enjoyed all of it!
It's nice to be friends with a great photographer! Erica takes gorgeous pictures and so I asked her to take a family shot. As you can tell, there was a breeze blowing my hair into a lion's mane. Nice.
Erica and her cutie, Claira
Love this! Ebay got some sand in his eyes and this is his shock after Dave poured some cold water into his eyes. He was screaming, but his face is priceless.
Baby No playing in the Nora-nip.
Than and Dave built a large "Turtle Mansion" with the kids. It was very intricately detialed! I was impressed.
Dave and Than hanging out. We sure love the Hancock's! They are some of our oldest friends. Dave grew up with Than and Erica- they all hung out in High School and at church. Than and Dave were college roommates, and we've hung out a lot together as much as we can during our married years. We've always lived far away from eachother, so it's fun to have them within driving distance!

Happy Baby No
Ebay!
She kept rubbing her hair and face in the sand. Wha-?

I love this picture of Dave and Than laying on the blankets with their baby girls! They are fun Daddy's. After the beach, we went to a little beach hut type place for dinner. There was a fun playground right across the street, so we bought our hot dogs, fish 'n chips, and coconut shrimp ($36 total! lame!) over to the park and the kids just played and had a good 'ol time. Norie was hilarious! Whenever she'd go on the slide, she'd grab the bar at the top and just pop up her little legs in the air in a straddle showing off her little undies! It was so funny! She just kept doing it over and over and we were cracking up! There was a group of 5 or 6 12 year old girls there that thought she was the funniest thing. They even took a picture with her. It was great.

After our adventures by the beach Than and Erica introduced me to something I'd never experienced before and it was truly a mind-blowing experience! Thrifty ice cream at Rite-Aid?! Only here in CA, I guess. But every Rite-Aid has super cheap and yummy ice-cream. Life-changing. Thank you Than and Erica for a great Sat.

New Paintings

I've been working on some paintings of my kids this past week. I wanted to use pictures that just captured who they are at this age.

My Dad (an amazing artist) always says not to paint people smiling. I see why now. First, it's hard to do. Second, the picture doesn't look as classic and timeless. Maybe I'll do another one of Lil. I just loved this picture because we were out on the beach for Spring Break, Lils has her pants rolled up, feet stuck in the sand, and is borrowing E's sweater because it's so cold. She's wearing her favorite flower clip I made her. She always got compliments on it and she would reply, "Thanks, my Mom made it with a hot-glue gun". Sort of takes the beauty out of the bow a bit,but it was true. I love the memories that come with this image.

Ebay loves his BYU Cougars hat and this old basketball shirt his Grammy gave him 2 years ago. He wore it when he was 2, it was HUGE, and now it finally fits him, though the logo is fading. He was having a great time throwing rocks into the river after our family hike at Codfish falls.

This picture is just classic Baby No. Mischievous smile, looking through the sides of her eyes, huge yellow rain boots, and her favorite little sweater that used to be her cousin, Ella's. She was so happy at Castle park. The weather was perfect and breezy and life was good.

The Wii

This is a scene that occurs very often at our house. Daddy breaks out the Wii and E and Lils come screaming out of wherever they were hiding to play. I will say that the best games ever are "Super Mario Bros Wii" (which Dave and I played with his brother almost every night until we beat it and laughed like crazy all night long! So fun!) the other great game is "Super Mario Galaxy II". I definitely recommend both games. Now that school has started, the Wii is only to be played on the weekends and as long as they complete their chores throughout the week. So far the lure of getting to play the Wii on Sat. is enough to get them to empty out the dishwasher every morning, water the garden and do all kinds of other stuff! Yes!

Painting Kiddos

I've been painting a lot lately and so, inevitably that means that the kids have too! I'll tell them to go play outside, but as soon as one of them spies me painting in the kitchen they all join in. They love it. So I cover the kitchen table in garbage bags, pull out the cheap paints and brushes, turn a little ABBA on and we have a good 'ol time!

Some of you may recognize 2 kids from those pictures who don't belong to me. We are so excited to have some old friends of ours from Carolina move here and now live 20 minutes away! It has been so fun to have them close. Lil and Parker were really good friends in Carolina and Parker said many times (when they were 3 and 4) that he was going to marry Lil. She would then reply, "Naw, I'm just going to marry my cat, Daisy." Good times! :)

Sweet little Norie loves to paint and draw. I just love this series of pictures. It shows off her silly personality.

First Day of School

Lil at Kindergarten on her first day of school... full of excitement, fat cheeks, and pure joy.

My little girl is in 2nd grade! I just love her so much and am so proud of who she is. She is so sweet, kind, loving, brave, obnoxious, "ignoying" (that's what we say in our house), helpful, hardworking, and a major brt (brat). So there is always some project happening at home, some game being invented, and some child screaming in our home at all times, thanks to my Lil! Wouldn't have it any other way (except minus the screaming)! I hope you enjoy this look through the little Lil of old. The first picture above is from Kindergarten, the second is of 1st grade, third of 2nd grade.

A Perfect Morning on the Lake

We took a short weekend trip up to Dave's parent's home in Oroville and had a great time with Mom and Dad up there! Saturday morning around 10 we headed out to the lake and NO ONE was there! there were maybe 12 trucks or so parked in the lot. So we had the whole lake to ourselves! It was great! Dave took the first ski run and tried out his 2 new slalom skiis he just scored from craigslist. They were great! Then K-Dawg (Dave's Dad, age 60, and grandfather of 19) took a run out on his ski! He hadn't skiied for over 4 years and got up the first time! Needless to say, he was STOKED!

I tried my best at skiing slalom. I didn't grow up boating and the only times I've gone are with Dave's fam, so I can double ski OK. I tried a good 8 or 9 times and the last time I got up for 12 seconds! It was great! :) by then my arms and legs were shot. It was so fun. Ebay and Lils just kept jumping off the back of the boat. E kept doing a "booty-stomp" which is a move from Mario Bros. It was pretty funny! And Lils, our fearless one, was doing back flips and front flips off of the boat. She also did quite a bit of kneeboarding. It helps when you're so light you just start out strapped in the board and hang on!

I just love this shot of Baby No and her Daddy, cute!
Ebay doing the thumbs-up, meaning "Go faster, Grampa!" Lils was bored, she wanted some real speed!
