As a sort of on-the-spot New Year’s resolution, I’ve decided to try and learn golf this year. I’ve quickly noticed how important golf is to the legal profession – in my first month of articles, I was already invited to two golf tournaments!

That said, I did take an introductory golf lesson way back in August, and learned some good pointers from my 1-hour instructor. The lesson was surprisingly high tech – the instructor videotaped my swing then compared that video with a golfer who actually knew what he was doing. The instructor’s ultimate exemplar, of course, was Tiger Woods. In fact, it would be fair to say that the theme of the lesson was to try and be like Tiger as much as possible.

So, Royal Canadian Golf Association, you might want to slightly rephrase your teaching methodology for the upcoming season…
