Parenting Practice

A few weeks ago, my poor sister Nat threw out her back and wasn't able to take care of herself or her cute kids. The short story is that James and I were able to take care of Bella for a day and a half or so.... just all by herself. I've watched Nat's kids plenty of times, but it was kind of different just having one kid with us on our own for a little while. Poor Bella was so patient with us as we practiced being parents. She cheered for me when I finally got the car seat unbuckled ("I DID it!"), she ate the quesadilla from Taco Bell that I got her with the jalapeno sauce on it ("It picy!") she took her nap at a friend's house on their guest bed, she survived the bath James gave her (but she did let us know she didn't like it), and she was so sweet about going to bed. What a great kid!
I try very hard for Bella to like me the best, but it's just a known fact that she looooooves James. In every picture she saw in our house, she pointed out James and said, "Jame!" It's adorable. She has great taste. To prove how much she loves him, she had a crying, kicking fit when James dropped her off and drove away. Here are a few pictures of them in James's favorite hammock... that was about all we had at our house that was kid friendly. =)

I love these two.

I Miss Utah.... Food

Today I couldn't stop talking to James about all the Utah food places I miss... terribly.

1) Cafe Rio (the obvious) - there's a Costa Vida 35 minutes away actually, but it's not even as good as the Costa in Utah. They just don't have the touch.
2) Kneaders - Oh, how I really want a turkey sandwich and parmesan chips. Badly. Heather knows what I mean.
3) Sensuous Sandwich - No deli sandwich will ever compare. And no place knows how to name their sandwiches like this place -- "The Enticer" "The Tantalizer" "The Super Saucy" "The Sorry Charlie" -- you get the idea. I told James I'm going to call this week and see if they'd consider expanding their locations.
4) Magleby's Fresh - Those pancakes and syrup are ridiculous.
5) Good Earth (the old one run by emo 15 y.o.'s) - I could eat a turkey-avo wrap from there daily and not get sick of it. Courtney knows what I mean on this one. Too bad they got new management and changed the menu.

It kills me. You'd think since Dallas has the most restaurants per capita in the U.S. that I'd be satisfied, but no. I haven't tried everywhere, but I'm pretty sure Dallas is all about cultural food and other expensive restaurants that I'm not willing to go to. Boo. So if anyone knows of any comparable places to the restaurants before mentioned in the north Dallas area, that'd be awesome. The Tex-mex just isn't cutting it. Sorry, Texas. It's my only complaint.
