arrived at the park enterance at ard 1230 and stopped to pay our park fees. they have this self registration practice where you fill in your particulars and drop your visitor/camping fees in a box. being the good and honest ppl we were... that we did. :)
at the enterance. clowning ard at bald hill.
from then on it was a long drive of ard 12km to bald hill and this was on unsealed roads, not unlike rally driving. *vrooom vroom* maybe that was the cause of the flat tire on the way home. ohwells. as we had little info of the park we decided to drive ard the few roads in there. we got to 3 other campsites (drummonds, homestead, valley) but none had the views bald hill had. by then it was only ard 1.30 and seeing that there wasnt really much hiking to do (we were also lazy) we decided to drive to one of the towns (northam) that was an hours drive away. what for? to get something that could be used with...
heh. yups... we got some meat to bbq. if we had known of the facilites that were available we would have been prepared for it. ohwells. now we know!
lamb. love it... onions? terrible at night. but i still love it. :P
we got some alcohol at the liquor store too! after a very satisfying dinner, we took a short walk to the granite outcrop where we had earlier scouted to watch the sunset from. very peaceful... but not so with the two of us running around trying to get pictures taken. after the sun set we had a second dinner and brought our gear over from the car. home for the night were to be out on the rocks.
the night was not that could. luckily. but it sure was bright. the full moon made it seem lke someone turn on the lights. :s then it got colder...and colder... *brrrr* we drifted in and out of sleep. could be the cold. could be cos were werent that tired. :P it was also real quiet except for the terrible noise we made and when the train went thru the valley below. sunrise was to be at 555 so we were up by 530. actually tj couldnt sleep cos he was so damn cold. the noisy fella woke me. tsk tsk..
beautiful. and real peaceful too. it was a weekday so i spose tts why we were the only ones in that area.
so up came the sun and it was time for brekkie. we had reheated sausages. bread. noodles. tea. all this while the surroundings got brighter and the clouds drifted in from 'up the valley.
very soon it was time to leave and i didnt want to. wells, i wouldnt if i had the time and if tj didnt have to get back to do his assignments. much too short! :(
so here was one last look. good spot that i shall revisit someday. ;)
we waited till the park gates opened at 800 and decided to take the long route back to perth. was it a wrong move? erm... maybe. we were lucky the spare tire was good... but not so that the tools werent. getting help from passing cars took a while (after all we were two asian kids) but help soon came in the form of european tourists in a tarago. :)
i had fun. i want more... u want some?
