trip (updated).

the trip was great. we didnt really know what to expect as we've both not camped here in West Aust previously. so off we went with a little preparation and chose avon valley np as the destination for the first outing. there wasnt a whole lot of info on the area (online) and we were pretty lazy to do more research. so yea..heh. :P

arrived at the park enterance at ard 1230 and stopped to pay our park fees. they have this self registration practice where you fill in your particulars and drop your visitor/camping fees in a box. being the good and honest ppl we were... that we did. :)

at the enterance. clowning ard at bald hill.

from then on it was a long drive of ard 12km to bald hill and this was on unsealed roads, not unlike rally driving. *vrooom vroom* maybe that was the cause of the flat tire on the way home. ohwells. as we had little info of the park we decided to drive ard the few roads in there. we got to 3 other campsites (drummonds, homestead, valley) but none had the views bald hill had. by then it was only ard 1.30 and seeing that there wasnt really much hiking to do (we were also lazy) we decided to drive to one of the towns (northam) that was an hours drive away. what for? to get something that could be used with...

heh. yups... we got some meat to bbq. if we had known of the facilites that were available we would have been prepared for it. ohwells. now we know!

lamb. love it... onions? terrible at night. but i still love it. :P

we got some alcohol at the liquor store too! after a very satisfying dinner, we took a short walk to the granite outcrop where we had earlier scouted to watch the sunset from. very peaceful... but not so with the two of us running around trying to get pictures taken. after the sun set we had a second dinner and brought our gear over from the car. home for the night were to be out on the rocks.

the night was not that could. luckily. but it sure was bright. the full moon made it seem lke someone turn on the lights. :s then it got colder...and colder... *brrrr* we drifted in and out of sleep. could be the cold. could be cos were werent that tired. :P it was also real quiet except for the terrible noise we made and when the train went thru the valley below. sunrise was to be at 555 so we were up by 530. actually tj couldnt sleep cos he was so damn cold. the noisy fella woke me. tsk tsk..

beautiful. and real peaceful too. it was a weekday so i spose tts why we were the only ones in that area.

so up came the sun and it was time for brekkie. we had reheated sausages. bread. noodles. tea. all this while the surroundings got brighter and the clouds drifted in from 'up the valley.

very soon it was time to leave and i didnt want to. wells, i wouldnt if i had the time and if tj didnt have to get back to do his assignments. much too short! :(

so here was one last look. good spot that i shall revisit someday. ;)

we waited till the park gates opened at 800 and decided to take the long route back to perth. was it a wrong move? erm... maybe. we were lucky the spare tire was good... but not so that the tools werent. getting help from passing cars took a while (after all we were two asian kids) but help soon came in the form of european tourists in a tarago. :)

i had fun. i want more... u want some?

Back on thursday! :)

camping? i like...

27 September 2004

man down...requesting medivac.

today i pretty much slacked the day away. work at mrs nelmes' place till ard one and headed home for the afternoon. slept most of it and the plan to pack up my room never happened. :( i dont know why i feel so... :s i've one week left to get my act together. one week. *focus*

just finished my spell in front of the tv watching aussie idol's live verdict show followed by the movie 'black hawk down'. i like the show, even if its a sad one and i'm watching it the second time round. anyways.. abt yesterday...

woke early for the trip up to the pinnacles and to do sandboarding. never did the sandboarding bit before and was a lil excited. it was a trip organised by the Int. Stu. Soc. and it was a combined activity with curtin uni. cost only $17 bucks. sweeet. turned out that we ran late...bla bla.. and it was mostly spent on the bus journey. grrr... wells i might have had too high expectations. :P

sandboarding. it took place at the sand dunes in lancelin and the highlight of that was more of the monster-bus ride thingy. it in itself only involved sliding down the dunes sitting on a plastic board. how...unexciting. ohwells... i seriously shouldnt complain for the money spent. so... there u go! one day out in the sun...

me at the pinnacles. us sandboarding at the dunes.

monster bus ride. jumping off.

at lancelin... i'll be back. :)

so... hiking eh? bingo then.. :P

anyways yesterday and today was work days. 8 and 7 hours respectively. i am so tired.... work was on this barge and we (boss, big boss, dom, julian, me) were doing stuff like de-rusting, cleaning, painting. i was 'incharge' of the vibrating tools! lol. first, there was this grinding tool that sent sparks that i had to operate to smoothen the edges of the new nameplates for it. then it was this de-rusting tool that was like a hydraulic hammer. lets just say i was lucky to have earplugs on. :)
after work yesterday was str home for dinner and catching some rest before the 'asian cocktail' thingy at metro. its some asian (duh) thingy that quite a no. of my frens are going. since its the hols.... y not? :P there were heaps of pretty people and the place was realli packed. didnt enjoy much tho.. prob cos i was tired and had to work today. :s

so two days of work got me really tired but it did at least pay for my oakleys. i havent got my pay yet... ohwells. most of it goes to julian (shades supplier) anyways.. :)

sandboarding awaits tomorrow. wheeeeeeeee.....

halfjacket! my first went swimming during my sailing lesson last year. sigh..

Posted by Hello last nite in the sleeping bag wasnt the best of nights. but at least it kept me warm so i spose it will too when i'm out camping. which hopefully happens sometime soon..cos only that can make me reaaalli happy. :)

meanwhile.. i'll stay pretty grumpy. *grrrrr* :P

21 September 2004

retail therapy is good.

i never thought i'd say this.. but it sure feels good to buy something that you've always wanted, with money that you earned. all in moderation of course. wells... anticipation of some exciting activity helps in a way too i spose.

i... bought a sleeping bagg... and a hat... and a mozzie net for ma head... and a tarp for ma sleeping bagg. :)

plus a shorty haircut.

too bad camping isnt everyone's cuppa tea. i sure think that people are missing out on lots... but then again, to each his own. after all, its my life (or yours...). do what you will with it and be happy....aint that the most important thing? :P

19 September 2004

gloomy.

the weekend was over pretty much too quickly. last day of sch on fri...work on saturday...rot on sunday morning. not enough that has been good has been happening recently, even those that were pretty much got cancelled out.

uni..mid sems and catching up with school work. work..a lil busy. frens bac home..bad news pretty much. everywhere else..kidnappings and bombings. wtf is going on. even if any one of these crap were bearable... it all adds up to some reaLLi shitty stuff. and one thing's for sure...

lots of shitty stuff > some good stuff

therefore... everyone should tread lightly ard here these days. and in the meantime, i need more upliftinG. ^^^ on a lighter note.. surfing today with tj n shups was alrite. not that we managed to stand at all but yea. :P

..have you experienced the gloom lately?

17 September 2004

visitor!

Posted by Hello jess was on her first solo and here for a stopover. her job allows her to travel ALL the time and i am so envious! :P

it was good to catch up with her today, last time being a vball game+wenjie's bdae back bac in jan. wayyy overdue.. anyways, the car-less me met her at sheraton-perth (apparently all sia aircrew stay there during stopovers :P) @9am.. *groans*. and showed her around as best i could. the city shopping areas (where she would spend the afternoon!), subiaco (one of the suburbs), fremantle aka freo to the locals (fishing port/fish n chips @ cicerellos), part of my uni etc. a little rushed considering that i had to work in between! :) after dinner at Tiamos she had to get back to prep for her 1am flight outta here. i miss my volleyballers. :(

in time.. in time.. we'll play together soon.. lol.

obviously i need more sleep. WHICH explains why i slept at 10pm WITHOUT completing my tutorialS. :P
