unsettled. but ready.
sch - the first week of the sem just passed. nothing major except for the clash thingy i wrote about. the rest of the week was spent attending lectures, working a little (too little), resting, getting back into the 'motion' of schooling. i somehow dont feel ready for school. its not that i dont wanna be in school, so do not be mistaken. its just that everything seems to be still in a state of confusion. uncertainty fills the thought of tomorrows.
what am i thinking of even i do not know for sure. year two of uni is when changes will occur. no longer is everyone taking the same basic/core units. a decision has to be made by all with regards to what they would like to graduate with, be it accounting, marketing or finance. it will be different. not to say that i have not attended classes alone and such. but its just that when you have company in classes it seems easier. a lil easier i spose. ohwells.. it might be a good thing anyway. cos going into classes with frens normally means u dont get to know more people. lol. once again a fine example of how one views things. "presented with the same problem, one can choose to view it in different ways. good OR bad, its up to YOU."
non-school - firstly, my gps i presume to be missing in the mail already. boo! and the seller isnt replying to my emails. f f f.... argh! nvm. teaches me a lesson to be more careful in the future. :( the week also saw me going for night photography and night fishing. its damn cold. but didnt have much of a choice cos jon (my classmate frm sr) needed company. once in a while its fine, but all would be forgiven if i can get him hooked of geocaching. lol. :P
*terrible news* just found out that a very very vErY irritating girl is going to switch to a tutorial group that i'll be in. i want out. shes irritating. damn.
life is just like that. when company is wished for, the wrong ones oft appears. anyways, i shall resume my 'trawling' of the net for useless info and interesting bits, while digesting my brekkie of self-made pancakes. :)
*i have tutes to do later...sigh*

lesson learnt.
do NOT buy your books until AFTER the first lecture.
what happens is the the clash and all got me all pissed up already. now it seems i wasted money by buying new two of the books that were "prescribed". one of which i could have used an older edition, one of which i could have done without according to the LECTURER. damn. if it can be done without why dont they put it as "optional"! not good. not good at all. argh. even with the clash of lectures i will not be changing my units for this semester. i am not going to screw up my own planning. all i am gonna do is to listen to iLectures (recorded) for my first law lect each week. i hope i am not missing out too much by not being in class. wish me luck. feeling i'm gonna need lots this sem.
i needa re-org.

not too good a start.
the first day of the new semester started with me going to the guild village to get my books. New and used ones in all will cost me around AUD$350 in all for the four units i am taking. i am broke. :(
cycling here and there, co-op...2nd hand bookstore...united bookstore just off campus, i tried to get the best deal i could. what to do. what to do. sigh. i also paid my fees for the semester and the total amount left in my bank? AUD$66. i am dead. true i have some cash here and there and such but they all add up to about AUD$150+ at most. with the books last semester being un-sell-able. things are not looking too rosy. i have to work.
so there i was, thinking that all is set by lunchtime, having gotten all the books. then came the first lecture for the semester. organisational behaviour at 2pm. it was followed by corporate accounting lecture. that was when it all went downhill. down down down. we were sitting there waiting for the class to begin and was beginning to wonder..where is the lecturer? late on the first lecture? then in came this lady that announced, "CA has be rescheduled." the new timing? a clash with my company law OR intro to finance lectures. so there was NO way around this problem. wtf!!! i was and still am a lil pissed. long long story short...
original clash of CA,CL,ITF classes.
CA timing changed so i was able to take all.
Bought all the books.
CA timing changed the second time.
Once again clash bet. CA,CL,ITF.
Drop one of them? Sure. then wad abt the books?
Only the law unit has iLectures aka recordings.
Damn pissed. *to put it mildly*
Shall have to resolve this soon. Change units? Make do and just listen to recordings for the law unit (its hard enough when its live, concentrating while just listening to an audio recording is worse, heaps worse)? Argh! Luck to he whom crosses my path tomorrow..
is there someone i can kill around here?...
*sorry for this ranting post*

the end.
the last day of the mid year break has arrived. boo...
Yesterday
work yesterday morning was alright. tired out by the chopping and all. yes. chopping. apparently the owners (des n liz) had a few big gum trees that they chainsawed, leaving the stump at ground level. wad i had to do was to dig around it and then chop it up till about 10cm below ground level. sounds easy? ya right. the first stump took me close to an hour with the heavy axe. yes axe. but it was maily because of the way the tree was growing and that the wood hasnt started to rot yet. second n third was easier. the day also saw me removing huge clumps of ferns that were deeply rooted. very deeply rooted. oh. working with me today was an indian guy, karpil or smt. its the second time i've worked with him already. just MY luck. you see, i find him a very very...lazy person. wells. anyone lazier than ME is badd. :P
kapil - the first time i worked with him was during the moving job. moving furniture for ken. he arrived late. and when we were carrying stuff together he wanted to drag some stuff along just because it had wheels. is he daft? wheels on a bed just dont go well on grass. wet grass for that matter. and it wasnt like it was a 100m distance to cover. it was only 20m max. ANYWAYs he seem lazy. bahhh. what angered me most was that he sortof worked less for the same pay. ohwells. the world isnt fair. and at the end of it all he i had to give him a lift someplace which i didnt really want to. *i'm evil* not to say i dont like indians, just not the lazy ones. once again, people lazier than ME. :P so it was the same today, i arrived at eight and liz told me there was someone else coming but will be late cos he was taking a bus. so i thought, wells i have company, good. WRONG. so he arrived at 8.45+ and promptly started painting. painting while i was chopping away. NOT FAIR! but nvm cos i dun tink he could manage it anyways. *evil* then came the weeding part that he didnt do properly. i had to go through the areas he did again. and i am not that skilled with it so u can imagine. anyways at the end of it all he asked if i was the one with the car and i said yes. and know what he said? "great". asshole. i am NOT his chauffeur. grrr... anyway the evil me kicked in and dropped him just somewhere. yeah. somewhere. conclusion: do not piss me off. or anyone for that matter. just because the human mind can be, and often is, eViL... :) *ends bitching..oh man.. i'm bitching - NOT a good sign*
anyways, the owners were nice people and will most probs be goin back next week with a friend that worked for them before. which should be MUCH better. :P
so after work it was right about 1pm. what did i do? i went to a camping store nearby. ahhh... the next time i step it i'll end up buying something. today i controlled myself... just looking around the sleeping bag section. i'll probably be gettin one soon. light weight. rated 0-5 degs. small size. and of course.. not too expensive. spotted a few but i shall do more research online.
picked up wayne at the airport. wayne. my other housemate that just shifted out from trinity college and whose car i've been driving around. sigh. no more car. wells. my bike will have to suffice for now.
dinner was at a viet restaurant in northbridge. mainly cos the both of us were lazy to cook. the food was good. never had duck for half a year i tink. definitely worth going back again. clubbing plans for the night was scrapped for a few reasons. undesirable company being there. lack of cheap transport back. need to save money. and me being tired. lol. all this in spite of me feeling like clubbing before sem 2 starts. i can control. its for the greater good. :P
Today
gonna go for timsum with wayne n the trinity peeps. sortof them welcoming him back. didnt wanna go but dont really have a choice. so much for wanting to save. bah. the timsum better be good. else i'll be regretting paying for the poor std at prices i could get better stuff for back home. i miss crystal jade. :)
ok..i'm late now. gotta prep and get goin. hope something interesting happens today! laters!
update: am lazy to blog.. lol :P

16 July 2004
my day off.
friday is a good day. and today is friday. :)
was thinking whether to work today but in the end decided against it. the friday just before sem 2 starts shall be spent....geocaching! woke early at around 845am. early considering its the hols. got all set and left for supavalue after brekkie for some last minute stocking up.
Gear..
backpack+maps+water+biscuits+muffin bar+mars bar+oranges+towel+tripod+cam+torch+GPS+cables+misc small items
got the mars bar at supa and had a check at my cache by the river. at about 930am i set off for the 3 planned caches for the day. 20+km away near ellis brook. had wanted to get company along for this hike/hunt but there wasnt really anyone i could think of. no one as crazy as me here i spose. ohwells. i was more prepared for this hike cos i had printed out the caching instructions from the website. all i had to do now was follow it and be careful. caching alone this far out i was a lil worried naturally. but soon i sortof got used to it and just concentrated on getting to the caches.
#1. tackled cautiously. the views were great and i encountered my first hillside worth of thornbushes. they even go through jeans! ouch. wad to do. wad to do. this was also where i saw 3 kangaroos on my way up. too bad they were too far away. nvm.
#2. a short drive from #1 took me to the main carpark of ellis brook reserve. a few cars in the area and after a quick check of 'equipment' i was off again. this was up up up all the way. phew. had to stop a couple of times to catch my breath. but that got taken away by the scenery. :P
i was basically heading toward the top of a small waterfall and there were a few lookout platforms along the way. when i got to the top i was able to locate the cache pretty easily.
#3. this one was in the same area. from #2 i carried on and crossed the waterfall near the top. there were people having a picnic at the rocky outcrop. nice. from there i went around 500m and got to it. this one was the highest of the 3 i tackled today. which naturally means that a good view was guranteed. i wasnt disappointed. after loggin my third n last cache of the day. lunch awaited! :P on the way down i was overconfident n didnt use the gps. took a wrong turn n met mr kangaroo. turned on gps in the end n ended the misadventure.
result? 3/3 ... 100% success rate for today.
i actually prefer these harder to get to caches. its like the caches are easier to find cos they are much larger. well they can afford to be much larger cos not many people are as likely to stumble upon them. a plus of all this is the scenery that i've come to love so much. maybe its because i suck at finding urban caches that are so small and well hidden (they have to else they would be pillaged easily by geomuggles). anyway. its just a different kinda satisfaction. :P
all that matters is that i enjoyed myself today! :)
on the way home i stopped by ranger camping store and lost myself in there for an hour i tink. so many things that i wanna buy. i am terrible. i wanna go camping.
shall blog later.. dinner n big brother awaits..
update: no time to blog tonite, gotta sleep cos of work tml morn!

15 July 2004
coming to an end.
time flies. esp when you've been doing nothing. well. pretty much nothing actually. lol. but isnt that how the hols should be? :)
in this short span of three weeks i can say i've had fun. working to save money (which i must add has mostly gone to pay for my 'recent' purchases). geocaching. surfing online to my hearts content. watching tv. slacking. Tho i would have really liked to have been travelling, i'm not exactly feeling too sad about it. reason being that i know i've probably earned my right to go on my next holiday. :P
with school starting in a week, there's much to get ready for..paying fees. registering for classes. scouting for books. basically organising my life for the next semester. i hope i can do better this time. not to say i did badly the past sem. i actually improved! lol. but i'm glad i didnt do badly. if i can, anyone can. :)
with winter upon us, its getting a little cold. right around 5 at night and 20 in the day. its not the time to fall sick and i sure hope i dont. the experience i had last year was BAD. it mostly happens during the changing of the seasons and what happened was that i got so sick i was 'stuck' in my room for almost two weeks. its the worst feeling. away from home too.. :P
just received a few video files from meng n gan today. they had recorded it for me at one of the gatherings. apparently it was gan's bday but joan's party. poor gan. happi bday~! i miss my friends back home. but i'll be seein them soon! haha. then... we'll party! wait..i'd have to plan that first. damn.
geocache news - i placed my very own geocache! (S 31° 58.707 E 115° 49.277). also, i've been seeking out a few caches but having no success. damn they're well hidden. :s
shall i go find work tomorrow? or shall i give myself a day off...to geocache of course! muahahaha.. we shall see.
all that glitters is not gold, all that plastic is not the cache...

*WARNING*
Geocaching is highly addictive and it definitely is not for the faint hearted. If you think that you cannot walk around for an hour and end up finding absolutely nothing, get off track and into the bushes where it might be damp and dirty, cannot find your way around in a 7eleven store, then this activity is not for you. However, do not despair. With a sense of adventure, a willingness to be open to trying new routes, a never say die attitude, you too can succeed in finding your own geocache. It can be a little disappointing at times, when you spend all that time and effort and you end up finding a poorly maintained geocache that just 'sucks'. But more often than not, the real treasure is the location the hunt brings you to. These places are known only to the 'locals' and are usually off the beaten track.
hope for the best, prepare for the worst..
hope for the best, prepare for the worst..

travel bugs.

Travel Bugs. Each with a unique id that allows it to be tracked as it makes its journey around...the world.
found in some caches. each has a specific 'mission' to complete.
camoflage.

the camoflage. makes many a pain to locate. but hey, thats the fun part! :P
all geocaches need them. so that they are safe. safe from geo-muggles of course! :)
Geomuggle
A non-geocacher. Based on "Muggle" from the Harry Potter series, which is a nonmagical person. Usually this term is used after a non geocacher looks puzzled at a geocacher making circles with their GPS receiver, or when a non-geocacher accidentally finds a cache. Geomuggles are mostly harmless.
trade items.

my first trade item - a red jim bean lanyard. one i picked up in exchange for a new yellow bandana. i like it. :)
items are traded in some caches (if they're big enough). no fixed rules but the unspoken one is that you should leave something that you'd be happy to find.
official sticker.

Seen this sticker before? :)
now when you see stuff lying around with this sticker on it. you'll know the secret. ;)
first find.

my first cache find. "TIME OUT IN NEDLANDS".
this 'game' involves using a GPSr to navigate to places where there are known geocaches aka 'treasure chests'. the coordinates are available online and anyone can join in. ANYONE. :)
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....
i confess.
i bought two used GPSrs. both are Garmin eTrex Yellows. But only one has arrived. :(
also, i have been geocaching occasionally in the past couple of days. which..explains. :)
well.. without further ado, i present to you the wonderful world of GEOCACHING. *drum roll*
pictures of my first finds which brought me to beautiful places AND places i dont wanna revisit. lol. it reminds me of the good old days of orienteering. mindless wonderings and basically looking like an idiot with a high tech toy.
with my two GPSrs (GPS Receivers) i plan to conquer the world. wrong line. or rather, i plan to get people back in singapore hooked. ;) but that's if it arrives eventually tho. dun remind me.. sigh.
and now.. the pictures!

the weekend.
it was a tiring weekend. had my fill of gardens alr. no doubt.
fri. after ken picked me up, we went down to essex street in freo and it sure was crowded on a fri night. but its the weekends so its expected. parked the car someplace far and took a stroll over to the pool place. it was a lil cold. 5 deg. when we reached the place, keith was already playing with his friend bob. i tink they all average late 30s. lol. anyways we popped by this liquor store just across the street to get some beer. they have this thing called byo and it allows one to bring your own alcohol to many places for free. quite unlike singapore. so it was nothing much except playing pool for the whole night. it was fun. so in conclusion? be open. try not too be too worried. learn to trust. all this with a little common sense of course. most people are nice and they dont need reasons to ask you out. its something to be learnt. eh... i dunno wad i am taking about. do you? :P
sat. i could barely manage to get out of bed. the 1deg kills. at least thats what i heard it was overnight on the radio. but out of bed i had to get. boohoo. didnt really have time so i was sortof driving while having brekkie. lol. this is followed by 7 hours of gardening. yes. 7 hours. sweep sweep pluck pluck weed weed trim trim. i smell of garden. at the end of it all i was so very hungry. :)
sun. another 6 hours of gardening. now i feel like a gardener already. its a little tiring at times but its needed i spose. i need the money! and i need to save more. muahahaahaha. had originally wanted to work for 2 hours more but decided i had enuff gardens for the weekend. my fingers hurt. :s
anyways. my $$ target has been 'suspended'. guess i'll be needing the money for weekly expenses too so the savings will have to come from whatever's left. sigh. there's more to update but will probs do it later. uni results are out and i'm lucky not to have done worse than last sem. :)
laters..
btw. MY PARCEL IS MISSING!!!! :(

no one is home.
went to the airport twice yesterday. one to see off jerome which was a failure on my part. another to send shups off to syd. shes goin on a east coast hol with her jc frens i tink. yups. someday i'll be the one flying.. :P
star control 3 is an old game. star control 3 is addictive. lol. the game which i downloaded from underdogs.com is keeping me occupied alot. which is good. went to the uni career ctr again today but there was only one gardening job available. tried to ring the person up but nopes. no one was there. shall see if the person calls me back. i sure hope so.
the lady that i bought the etrex from emailed me to see if i've got it. its been two weeks now. does it take that long to ship from the states? sigh. i just hope it arrives. she said that she'll try checking. *keeps fingers crossed*
gonna be goin to some pool place in essex street, fremantle, later in the evening. one of the guys that i worked with on sun (the mover job) invited me along to play pool with his mates, saying that he was short of one player. the guy (ken) whom i was working for was to pick me up at my place. somehow i hope i dont feel awkward. but it was nice of them and i need to practice my communication skills more! :P
...if you dont see me blogging for three days try emailing me. if no update after seven days, call the police... but i may be on a container ship to india by then...or worse?! :s
meanwhile i shall go fill up my growling stomach. with food of course...

sigh.
i missed jerome's flight. or rather. he went in early. cos i was there at three for his four pm flight. also, janet's phone was turned off. :(
cranky.
blogger was cranky yesterday. couldnt load properly. couldnt view. simply terrible. but i didnt do much yesterday actually. so no harm done.
only 1.5 weeks left in my hols and its just so short! ohwells i just have to make do. today(wed), i resumed the job search in uni. saw an advert for a labourer, half days work in digging/widening a hole for an in-ground trampoline. the lady asked if i was a strong lad. eh.. wad was i to say? lol. so i just told her i hope so. and basically offered to go down to her place first. didnt even have time for lunch (but i had late brekkie). so down to south perth i went. reached there at ard 12 and started work immediately. it was hard work and tho it drizzled occasionally the weather was kind to me. nothing that required me to stop digging. there was already a hole in the ground but its just that the soil had fallen in and the grass was overgrown in it. some might say its easy. wells. what i can say is that its not as easy as it seems. grass has pretty deep roots and when they are well rooted getting them out is no joke. even with a rake and all the soil was firmly held together by the roots. bah! so once the grassy cover came off and into the bin/pile, sand had to be removed. this wasnt easy. esp when the wheel on the wheelbarrow was flat. it just wouldnt move. so instead of piling it with ten or more shovels per load. i had to make do with ard 6. :( ohwells. the owner wanted it urgently cos her grand-nephew was comin from england the same afternoon. so i carried on while Anthea went to the airport. no lunch for me except for the kelloggs k-time muffin bar she offered me. nice. but not nearly enuff. :P i planned to finish setting up the trampoline before she returned but only managed the digging part in the end. by then it was already after 5 and it was raining. so they came back and there i was still doing it. no surprise for the lil boy. sigh. anyways i hurried to finish it up and i felt good. why? cos i did something today. cos i had a workout. cos i managed to earn some money. cos i was able to help someone. cos someone appreciated my efforts. anyways.. the result? another $90 for the fund(to cover recent purchase of 'luxury' goods) and a possiblilty of another few hours work for Anthea. =)
tired n hungry. but the hungry part was solved very easily with a sinful dinner of luncheon meat pasta! lol.. with olives, lots of onions and oregano. and a glass of reisling. *yum*
now: just finished playing star control 3 which i downloaded before i went to work. its not that nice but its a way to 'reward' myself. i should go sleep now.
oh ya. work tomorrow is cancelled. :( Sonya, another lady, called to say that the ppl installing the spa would also be preparing the hole for it. sigh. no work. no money. no chance to see french girl. boooooooo! but wells, it allows me to go send jerome off. which is good. :)
eh... i must be realli tired. *dreams of.....my package*

farewell dinner.
today i had jerome n janet over for dinner. shups was in too. dinner was one of 'spicy' asian food just for jerome. there was laksa, sambal fish, rojak like thingy and the usual beer and wine. was stuffed by the end of it and soon we were all watchin big brother and queer eye on tv.afterwhich we had a photo viewing session or his n my pics. its good to see how his life is back in france. looking through the pics made me think about how different it must be like over there. this things that they do and how things are like. but then again in the end its still basically the same. a close group of friends to grow together with in life. loving family whether they openly show it or not. and a keen understanding about how small a part each one of us play in this huge world we have. it sortof puts everything in perspective for me as in it shows that things that arent commonly done where most of us grow up in are done someplace faraway. and to them its just not that surprising. here's a silly pic of the both of us. twenty two and far from home.
to sum it all up..
"what you dont know of isnt necessarily non-existant, you just have to be open and know where to look.."
i'll miss this friend when he flies off on thurs, too bad i cannot send him off. but i'm pretty sure we'll meet again someday as life would dictate..and as we fight against it! :)

sunday.
been a mover before? i mean the kind where you help people shift their furniture when they move. wells. i had a go today and it wasnt too bad at all. considering the pay that is! lol! had to wake at ard 830 and be there by 9. when i left the house it was still raining so i wanst too sure if it was still on but since i had nothing on that day i figured why not. so off i went and when i reached the place there was this huge rented truck from 'budget' and work was waiting! there were lots of stuff. many sofas. beds. cupboards. chairs. loads n loads of them. we had to do four trips in all and it lasted till ard 3pm. the result? a $90 contribution to my fund. :)
on of the guys that were helping too asked me to drop by a freo pool place if i had the chance to. keith was his name and i tink he's a fren of the owner, ken. anyways it was a god experience in all and now i have a sLight aching body i must admit. didnt really have lunch in the end so dinner will be goooood! the menu? some 'fusion' stuff that we thought up. fried beef mince/onions wrapped in wanton skins and all dumped in a soup/sauce of canned tomatoes and shredded cabbage/onions. its something similar to some pasta (tortelinni? - check spelling, lazy to find out). yeaps.
on my comp. the updating n installation of files n programs are almost done now. probs a few more programs and i'll be set! so relieved and happy. one less worry now. would be better able to dream about my yet to arrive parcel tonight! lol. and then tomorrow its off again for a job search. followed by dinner with jerome n janet. :)
*hungry*
*sleepy*

no job. no parcel.
so sad...
anyways was clearing out my mailbox when i read this, its part of a long msg.
"When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying."
sounds evil to have everyone around cry when you die, but the part about you having a smile on your face when that happens, its something to work toward. Dont you tink so?

driving. on the open highway.
the day gone by saw me driving quite abit.
morning to uni for the job search.
evening to south perth to cos my fren was gonna collect his car.
to the airport at night to send my fren off.
each time it was a different car i got to drive. pretty good practice yea. lol. ohwells.
somehow trips to the airport makes ppl think about travelling. it sure does that to me. looking at all those ppl carrying all their belongings and getting ready to board a plane. its just so nice. i wanna travel too. it seems to me that airports are a place of varied emotions. people leaving and arriving. frens and family. just like what the movie love actually was talkin about. seeing that. i just dont understand why some ppl aren't able to see how beautiful life is. the current situation wif the kidnappings and beheadings makes me sick. i dont understand and i never will. and if i can i will do something to stop it. damn these extremists. they not only make things worse, they put the majority of the muslim ppl in bad light. freakin bad apples. rot away..
ok. that might have been a crazy train of thought. not really thought out well but who cares! =)
*dreams for the next parcel...yes i have more coming*
