So I’m off to church camp for the next 5 days! [and my bag’s still unpacked..! *panics*]

But what’s so special this time is that I’m going with both my brother and sister! Cause I don’t think I’ve ever been on a camp with the both of them at the same time.. teehee..

the shoebox project.

Hey readers (or whatever’s left of you guys.. ),

So semester 4 passed by in a jiff.. Actually, come to think of it, the whole of 2011 passed by in a jiff!! I can’t believe the year’s ending already!

Butttt it only means one thing… CHRISTMAS IS COMING!!!   

For this coming Christmas, why don’t you guys do something different? I’m going to encourage you guys out there to share the Christmas love and joy!

If you have not heard about it, The Shoebox Project (okay I don’t think it’s called that but I’m gonna call it that in my post ) is carried out so that underprivileged children from all over can receive Christmas presents as well!

My church, KL Wesley Methodist Church will be having a Christmas Mission Adventure to Sengoi, Pahang and they will be handing out 150 shoeboxes to the orang asli kids there as well as spreading the word about the Lord!

To take part in this project, all you have to do is get a shoebox! And fill it with gifts! It’s as simple as that!

Get an empty shoebox or even those decorative boxes meant to store items in (but not something too large eg. furniture box… )

First you have to decide whether you want to give the box to a girl or a boy. Then you have to determine an age group. Either from 5-9 years old or 10-15 years old.

So suggestions as to what to fill the box with :

CANDIES!!!

But not chocolate (cause they might melt and it’ll be very messy..)

 

…and even more candy…

Or necessities such as school supplies.

Doesn’t hurt that they’re pink and cute as well!

Toyssss!!! Come on, which kid don’t love toys?  

But it’s best not to give war-related items such as toy guys, knives or military figures. Don’t want them turning violent now do we?

You can also give hygiene items such as toothbrushes and toothpastes, mild bar soaps, combs etc.

Then you put all the presents into the shoebox!

Then here comes the fun part!

You write the child that will be receiving your gift a note! You can also insert a picture of yourself if you like but it’s advisable not to include your personal details.

 

Once you’re done, you put it into the box with your gifts!

Okay maybe I went alil overboard with the ‘note’ and wrote a letter instead.. But I couldn’t help it! I HAD to draw some cute items and I made it bilingual just in case she can’t read English.

 

After that, you wrap the box up! Or if you used a decorative box instead, you don’t have to wrap it up. Maybe just tape the cover to the box.  

Don’t forget to stick on a label onto the box to state whether the gift is for a boy or a girl and state the age range. I didn’t write 10-15 years old cause I didn’t think a 15 year old would want a Hello Kitty stationery set.  

And voila!! You’re done!

But the most important part of all is to pray for the child that will be receiving your gift. 

So for those of you interested in spreading the love this coming Christmas, go ahead and make a shoebox!

My church will be collecting them latest by the 4th of December (which is tomorrow >.< ) but you guys can also give it to other Collection Points (but the gifts will be given to children from shelter homes instead!) The Collection Points are listed in the picture below.

 

So come on and participate in this project to create a merrier christmas for children out there!

Hitting the big 2-0!

I’ve been living in denial for awhile now. What started off as something I just told myself in my head turned into something that I believed was truly true!

I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M 20!  

Throughout 2011, I kept thinking in my head that I was only turning 19 this year. (Oh what a big fat lie, Chloe!) Every time someone asked me how old I am, I would say I’m turning 19. And then somehow, something would not feel right, and I will count back the years from high school till now to see how many years has passed to add on to 17 years. I think I was delusional.   I even asked those close to me to wish me HAPPY TWENTEENTH on my birthday! >.<

But I’ve finally come to accept the fact that I AM NOW OFFICIALLY 20. After 3 birthday surprises.

I realized that turning 20 really isn’t that big a deal! It’s really just a number. I’M STILL YOUNG AT HEART!

But I must say, my transition to adulthood would not have been complete without all the lovely people that I’m surrounded with and I only have God to thank for that. This year, I was surprised countless of times and felt incredibly loved by all around me.

The weekend before my birthday (22nd Oct), Enyaw asked me out. He told me to dress up cause we were going on one of our rare dates (he’s currently busy preparing for his final exam).

Oh boy, was I shocked when I saw my friends at TGIF! With a cake! And before I knew it, they were singing me a birthday song. And all I could do was shriek.  

 

Thank you to those who made it! To those who couldn’t make it, it’s alright! You just missed out on yummy cake!

I usually like keeping my presents till my actual birthday to open but since Enyaw insisted on me opening it that day, I did!

 

Couldn’t wait any longer! Even read the manual there and then!

Food @ TGIF!! Nyom nyom nyom!

The really yummy cake that we all loved! It’s a walnut cake! I usually don’t like nuts in my cake but this was an exception!

It’s so sad how I didn’t get a picture with the cake and the lighted candles! (Cause the camera was with me when they surprised me with the cake!!) The cake was lit with the really pretty tall candles and not the typical pink with white stripes candle!

 

And so I thought that was it for my 20th birthday but noooo…

On Thursday after my antenatal clinic visit to Mantin (will blog bout it soon! ) , Carmen called me up saying she has to pass me something that I left in her house. Then the girls surprised me with a super cute homemade birthday card (!!!! I LOVE PRETTY CARDS! ) and a lovely present! I you girls!!!

Okay so then I thought that’s REALLY it for my birthday..

Then on the night before my birthday, Enyaw called 10 minutes before 12am, saying he wants to be the first to wish me. So we talked for abit and then he said ‘Hold on, I’ll call you back in abit?’ and I said 'Okay!’.

Then at 12am, my sister opened my room door and in came my brother and Enyaw with 4 plates of cake, party hats and party poppers and they all sang me a birthday song!! (They don’t have the teary smiley emoticon here.. ) I was so touched! I really didn’t expect Enyaw to surprise me again since he already did a week earlier. Thanks so much baby!

He wanted to buy 1 big cake but the shop didn’t have a big enough box for it. LOL Hence the 4 various types of cake. Chocolate banana, Cheese, Carrot and Coconut cake.

Yes that is what I wear to sleep. LOL

Being the vain person that I am (okay, I’m really not that vain. I’ve seen worst! ), I wanted to reenact the whole lighted-candle-on-cake scene so that we could all take more chio pictures again!

And on my birthday night, the family and I went out for dinner at a steak house.

I assure you, it tasted a lot better than it looks. >.<
