Fun Family Fitness

We had a really fun weekend! The American Fork Fitness Center had a free day and a mini decathalon to celebrate the Worldwide Day of Play. They gave us each a card with different "events". We started off by stretching and then jumproping. The girls have never jumproped before so it was a little difficult for them to get the hang of it. We moved on to some yoga positions (they took a picture of us posed in yoga but they haven't sent it to me yet) and then off to do some push-ups. Madalynn said that the push-ups were her least favorite thing to do. We ended this event with some stair-stepping. Maddie really liked this.
Afterwards we went down to the track and sprinted a lap. Then headed off to the Gym to do some Hula-Hoops. I wish I would have had some videos of Emma doing the Hula-Hoops. It was hilarious. As you can see I'm a pretty good hula-hooper! Maddie caught on to this really quickly and she said that this was her favorite part. We had to do sit-ups and then chin-ups. We did the long jump and I think that this part was Emma's favorite.
Afterwards we went outside to do the shot-put. That was actually really fun. Then we were finished and we handed in our cards for an otter-pop and some fun play on the inflatable toys they had. When we were all done playing and exercising we each received a gold medal! The family that plays together stays together!!

Chub Chubs

My Baby is 6 weeks old!!! I can't believe how fast the time has slipped away. Nathan is getting soooo chunky!! Emma was a chunker as well. At her two week appointment the Dr. commented on how much weight she had gained and said that I must be giving her "whale milk"...we no longer have that pediatrician. Never say the word WHALE to a woman who just gave birth two weeks prior! I don't know how much he weighs right now, but at his two week appointment he weighed almost 9 pounds. He is so much fun. He started smiling a week ago. He's smiling a lot more now and he is trying so hard to make little cooing noises. He opens his mouth really wide and starts breathing really fast trying to make some noise. He actually laughed at me this morning!! We call him Chub Chubs right now. I took a picture of his fat thighs but you can't really see them in the slide show. Anyway, my baby boy is just growing up too fast. He's happy and healthy though and that's all that I can ask for. Check out his cute pics in the slide show above!

4 Years!!

Jason and I had our four year anniversary yesterday. It seems like it has been a lot longer than four years, and I mean that in a nice way. I guess it's because we've always had a child with us. Emma was born a few days before our first anniversary and Nathan, of course, a few weeks before this one. I had these grandiose plans to make a special meal and send the kids off for a few hours...but they didn't work out. So, we decided that we would spend it with the kids. We went to the Spaghetti Factory for dinner. The girls had free meals from the library for reading this summer. They thought they were hot stuff when they gave the server their "tickets." We don't eat out much and so going to a restaurant was a real treat for the girls. Nathan graciously slept through the whole thing. Afterwards we took Emma to the store to buy the new Barbie movie that just came out. Again, my three year old-going on thirteen-thought she was pretty grown up when she handed the cashier her birthday money to buy her movie. We've had a lot of fun watching it today. (I think I get a little more excited than the girls do about the new Barbie and Disney movies that come out!) Jason and I really enjoyed our time with our family because that's really what it's all about. Jason was sealed to Maddie on the day of our second anniversary and so it has such a special meaning to us. More than just celebrating our love for each other but also celebrating our love for our children and our striving to become a Forever Family. Still, as much as we love our children, we are going to try and have a nice quiet dinner without them this weekend. Because of the tragic loss of my camera on Emma's birthday I don't have any pictures to show for our special day, which is really a bummer...for me anyway.

Emma's Birthday

Emma turned three yesterday and we had a fun day. We started out by wearing our traditional "Princess for the day" crown. For lunch we went to McDonalds with some of the cousins and spent an hour or two there. I had my camera with me but forgot to take pictures. Later that night we had our family over for some delicious cake and ice cream. Emma made out like a bandit with the Barbie dolls. They are pictured below. She also received a fun dancing ballerina Barbie from my parents, but I dropped my camera and broke it at that moment. Fortunately I had a back-up but I didn't get back into the action in time to get a picture of it. The ballerina Barbie came with a little girl doll that dances as well. Emma has named the Barbie "Jamie" which is her dance teacher's name. She named the little girl Emma. So, I'm sure you can see where her creative play leads to. Her dance classes. Emma also received a Mega Make-up kit complete with lights and a large mirror from Grandma and Grandpa Childs. She has wanted her own make-up ever since Maddie got some for her birthday. She's bugged me all day about wearing her make-up. I think she will do well as a Mary Kay Consultant! Aunt Amy bought her Cinderella shirt in Disneyland and Aunt Krista gave her the wings and wand. Emma is so funny with the wand. It's difficult to describe unless you've seen Cinderella a million times like I have. She taps it on her hand as if it doesn't work because that's what the fairy godmother does in the movie. It's cute but I guess you have to see it. When my mom asked Emma what she wanted for her birthday she replied "flowers and make-up." Don't ask me where the flowers came from. Well, Krista remembered that she wanted flowers and so she gave her a bouquet of pink silk flowers. Emma pulled that out of the bag first and ran outside to show her dad...she didn't come back in. She was so excited about the blasted flowers. We had to drag her back in and show her that there were other things in the bag. Silly! Aunt Nic knows how much we love to read books. She gave Emma three fun little books and some dress-up necklaces. This morning I caught Emma reading to her baby brother when he was getting a little fussy. It was so cute! The cake was fabulous. I got it at Walmart. A little to pricey for a three year old's cake, but it had not only one, but THREE princesses on it. You can't really tell in the picture, but Cinderella's dress is lit up. I thought that all three of them were supposed to light up (and I'm 99% positive on that so I need to follow-up with that) but oh well. Emma's favorite princess is Cinderella so I guess that's all that matters. I think Maddie could have done a better job at writing on the cake, but that's Walmart for ya. The cake was really good. It had a delicious Strawberry filling inside. Emma LOVES strawberries. All in all I think she had a pretty good day. Lucky for me I am done with birthdays until January when Jason turns 30!!! What a bash that is going to be!
