Emma turned three yesterday and we had a fun day. We started out by wearing our traditional "Princess for the day" crown. For lunch we went to McDonalds with some of the cousins and spent an hour or two there. I had my camera with me but forgot to take pictures.
Later that night we had our family over for some delicious cake and ice cream. Emma made out like a bandit with the Barbie dolls. They are pictured below. She also received a fun dancing ballerina Barbie from my parents, but I dropped my camera and broke it at that moment. Fortunately I had a back-up but I didn't get back into the action in time to get a picture of it. The ballerina Barbie came with a little girl doll that dances as well. Emma has named the Barbie "Jamie" which is her dance teacher's name. She named the little girl Emma. So, I'm sure you can see where her creative play leads to. Her dance classes. Emma also received a Mega Make-up kit complete with lights and a large mirror from Grandma and Grandpa Childs. She has wanted her own make-up ever since Maddie got some for her birthday. She's bugged me all day about wearing her make-up. I think she will do well as a Mary Kay Consultant!
Aunt Amy bought her Cinderella shirt in Disneyland and Aunt Krista gave her the wings and wand. Emma is so funny with the wand. It's difficult to describe unless you've seen Cinderella a million times like I have. She taps it on her hand as if it doesn't work because that's what the fairy godmother does in the movie. It's cute but I guess you have to see it. When my mom asked Emma what she wanted for her birthday she replied "flowers and make-up." Don't ask me where the flowers came from. Well, Krista remembered that she wanted flowers and so she gave her a bouquet of pink silk flowers. Emma pulled that out of the bag first and ran outside to show her dad...she didn't come back in. She was so excited about the blasted flowers. We had to drag her back in and show her that there were other things in the bag. Silly!
Aunt Nic knows how much we love to read books. She gave Emma three fun little books and some dress-up necklaces. This morning I caught Emma reading to her baby brother when he was getting a little fussy. It was so cute!
The cake was fabulous. I got it at Walmart. A little to pricey for a three year old's cake, but it had not only one, but THREE princesses on it. You can't really tell in the picture, but Cinderella's dress is lit up. I thought that all three of them were supposed to light up (and I'm 99% positive on that so I need to follow-up with that) but oh well. Emma's favorite princess is Cinderella so I guess that's all that matters. I think Maddie could have done a better job at writing on the cake, but that's Walmart for ya. The cake was really good. It had a delicious Strawberry filling inside. Emma LOVES strawberries.
All in all I think she had a pretty good day. Lucky for me I am done with birthdays until January when Jason turns 30!!! What a bash that is going to be!
