i always say, you learn new things every day. on some days, you learn a little more than usual. like the night i got the bioengineers over for a belated surprise party for tryph? that night itself, i learnt that...
.. caroline's and jessica's maids make the same type of mac salad
.. both kristy and liquan can't cook to save their lives
.. tryph makes really yummy cupcakes
.. tall guys like lenith make good help around the house
.. yiren doesnt arrange his mahjong tiles
.. zeming's grandma makes REALLY good otah
.. sandip makes yummy tasty cheese omelettes
.. vinodh is one cool bartender who handles troublesome customers well
.. weilong can't really find his way around his own neighbourhood, heh
.. jem's roast chicken is really pretty damn good
.. weiguang makes a really wonderful PA
.. and i really do like alcohol, esp when they come sweet.

haha, lessons aside, let's talk about the party proper.

we had nice, simple, nus-colours-and-csi-based decorations around the house put up by mr hui
a very budget banner printed using my black-and-white laser printer on plain white paper previously used to print other stuff on the other side:
lots and lots of food of which i never was able to get a nice clean shot of, cos people kept stuffing their thumbs in front of my lens:
we had a bartender to keep all the alchies nice and happy:after stuffing our faces with food, we also had a nice surprise cut-jelly session for the 'birthday' girl, where we learnt that agar-agar can be pretty heavy, as can be seen from yiren's very strained bicep:
then we had people entertaining themselves in front of the tv watching the 9pm show and other sitting around the kitchen just making idle chat.
and then suddenly, somehow, everyone managed to squeeze themselves into my wee lil' room either around the mahjong table or happily camped out on the sofa set:and then we realised that my ceiling was just barely high enough for some tall folks (who helped put up/take down the balloons on my ceiling without any chairs or added height!) and at the same time was comfortably high enough for others:
and then we had people going around photowhoring and me not wanting to photowhore along with them:
and then, and then, and then i really don't know what else we did that night but, like every other time good friends come together to just hang around and enjoy each other's company, time just went by and it was time for everyone to go home cos we had consultations with casey chan the next day. :(

ah well, i hope you guys had a blast at this cosy little pad of mine!

and tryph, see, you can't turn 21 without a party! and i hope you like your present! (:
it's a little tiring, but i'm really looking forward to hosting you guys again. i had a wonderful friday night that day. (:
