Writer's Block?

Ainsley has recently taken an interest in pens. According to the baby books, it's too early to notice a hand preference, but she's definitely favoring her right hand here.  It seems Ainsley likes to chew on pens, too.  Could it be writer's block, or just teething?

Peas and Carrots

We started to feed Ainsley veggies on January 1 and introduced fruits shortly thereafter.  The first veggie was peas, and then we moved on to carrots.  She has since tried avocado, a zuchini/squash mix, strawberries (not a big fan), applesauce and bananas.  It's such fun to watch her facial expressions when she first tastes a new flavor!

She really did like the peas!
...and some carrots, too!

Seven Months and More!

A lot has happened here at Chez Wills East in the new year already. For one, Ainsley got her first teeth. That's right - teeth!  We noticed the first two bottom teeth poking through the gums on January 15, during the third quarter of the Steelers/Ravens playoff game.  (If you missed the score, Steelers came out on top, 31-24).  Ainsley was very excited, of course, cheering for the Steelers.  (See also Here we go, Steelers.)  But we were all very excited that those first teeth finally popped through, less than one week shy of her seven month birthday.

Check out those two little nubs!

Then, on January 21, Ainsley turned seven months old.  She is such a happy baby, always giggling and starting to blow raspberries now!  She also doesn't hesitate to show her frustration when things aren't going her way. But that just means she's becoming her own person, and we couldn't ask for more than that.

Ainsley is also very interested in everything around her, from the telephone and the TV remote to the mail on the dining room table.  Even her birthday sign!

And this isn't really new in the new year, but her jumperoo is still a favorite toy.  Ainsley is still too tiny, so we have to keep a pillow underneath, but I definitely think she's big enough to use it. :)  It almost seems like she's going to eject herself right out of the seat!

Christmas Fun with the Whole Family

Ainsley's first Christmas was so much fun, very memorable and filled with magic.  We had the opportunity to visit a lot of family, and even with so many houses and being passed from person to person, Ainsley was a very happy and smiley little girl through it all.

She figured out how to rip bows off packages pretty quickly. She also enjoyed tearing off wrapping paper, which went straight into her mouth!
