No time to blog, gotta knit

I promised myself that I was going to start blogging regularly as that was a requirement for joining Summer of Socks 2007. So here it is, four days after summer began and I've yet to blog.

Been busy. My Zen String June Sock Club package was waiting when I got home from work Wednesday evening. Bluefaced Leicester Superwash 2-ply, beautifully dyed, and a pattern, Perambulate, that looked fun and quick to knit -- quick being an important factor. Socktopia's June Knit Off was to start on Friday and I didn't want to start the Perambulates until Thursday so they could count for Summer of Socks. But I really did want to get them knit -- first one to finish a pair would win more yarn :-)

Cast on the Zen String Thursday morning, knit during every spare moment (including meetings) and finished the socks Friday night around 10 pm. Then came the hard part. Could I find the cable to connect my camera to the PC? No, of course not. That would make life much too easy. I looked everywhere -- remembered that I'd taken the camera and cable in to work one day a couple of weeks earlier. Clearly remember thinking that I needed to put the cable in a "safe" place so I wouldn't lose it... Sigh.

Since I couldn't find the cable I thought maybe I could get by with using my cell phone's camera. Taking the pictures worked. Loading them onto my PC didn't. Naturally, I'd never installed the drivers that were needed. So around midnight I leashed up the Chew monster (who thought that going for a ride at that hour was the best idea I'd ever had) and headed in to the office -- maybe my safe cable storage place was in my desk at work.

Nope.

Installed the cell phone drivers on my office PC. No go. I have no idea why, buy my PC remained oblivious to the existence of my cell phone. Heavy sigh. Much irritation.

Burned a CD with the drivers and went back home and to bed.

Early o'clock Saturday morning, before heading out to the dog park (Chewy is incredibly patient) I installed the drivers on my home PC and got the photos downloaded (or is that uploaded?) Finally -- making real progress. Now all I needed to do was upload them to Flickr.

A while back I was quite annoyed with AT&T, dropped my home DSL service, and started using my cell phone for a dial-up connection to the Internet. It actually works pretty well. Unfortunately it now works not at all. My PC is no longer able to connect to the phone as a modem because it thinks it is a flash drive. And I can't figure out how to uninstall the drivers. Why is everything always so difficult?
After a calming visit to the dog park (just what the shrink ordered) we located a camera store. About an hour to kill before it opened, so we hung out in the car, cast on our Socktopia KnitOff sock, Clementine, and knit. The camera store didn't have the cable, but they did have a card-reader device that they said was a better idea anyway. At that point I figured anything that would work would be a better idea. So, back home, drop off the beast, and head back to work (because I still can't connect with my home PC).
