灵魂之窗

All along till poly, I always have perfect eyesight. Maybe due to usage of computers in poly times, my right eye degree start to increase first then my left eye. If not for my high astigmatism for my right eye, there wouldn’t be a need for specs or contact lens. Sigh.

And now being a contact lens user for 7-8 years, my eyes start to have some minor problem. Sometimes, the eyeball will become very red and the inner eyelid will itch. It happens so often and having seeing glaring objects twice which lasted 1 hour plus. I finally went for a medical appt at eye centre to find out why (after hearing Fen’s experience).

It is scary that there’s a possibility that I can’t wear contact lens anymore if the problem worsens. Ahhh… I don’t want that to happen!

Turned out to be I’m having dry eye symptoms

Here’s are some of most common symptoms of dry eye information that I found online:

  • Feeling like there is something in your eye (foreign body sensation)
  • Scratchy, gritty eyes
  • Aching or sore eyes
  • Smarting or burning eyes
  • Eyes tire easily, particularly noticeable from reading, watching TV or using a computer
  • Contact lens discomfort or intolerance
  • Excessive mucus discharge
  • Watery eyes
  • Eyes easily irritated by smoke
  • Sensitivity to light (photophobia)
  • Fluctuating vision
  • Blurred vision, particularly first thing in the morning, and/or late in the day
  • Eyelids "stick shut" at night
  • Eyelids feel "heavy"

The doc warned me to stop wearing contact lens for long hours and too often. If need to be, I can only wear daily disposable lens. Wah.. Damn sad. I dislike wearing specs as wearing it too long in front of the computer will make me giddy which according to the doc that this will happen is because my inner eye lid contains lots of oil glands and water level is low. That explains why I always have red eyes as well.

Guess I better heed doc’s advice and treat the eyes with care then. Unless the condition gets better, otherwise I just got to continue to wear my specs. It’s more important to take care of my precious eyes. Considering that wearing daily disposable lens are more hygienic too~
